i watched Firefox last Saturday and i really liked it, i tought it was cool, well written etc.

The only thing that i didnt like is the bad acting from few actors that had enough important roles(First Secretary and the Captain roles), they really were monotone...  it got on my nerves.

The part where they talk together, when the Captain tries to find out where Clint is, during the coversation, sometimes theyre voice was... my god... so monotone... also, for the actor the played the First Secretary... i was ready to trow something at the tv... lol

I dont know if its just me that didnt like theyre acting, and its really theyre acting, not theyre accents, accents are fine with me.

by the way, this movie is soooo Metal Gear Solid like ;)

anyway, i think it would be really cool to have a remake of this movie, what do you think ??

In a word NO.   I don't think remakes are a good idea and who would you like to see in it?  I can't imagine Clint, Freddie Jones who is 82 and Warren Clarke who is 62 replaying their parts.    David Huffman is sadly no longer with us.

Sorry Lena if the above post sounded rude it wasn't meant to be.  I just don't like remakes and there is no way I could imagine other people in the parts.

I think Lena meant with others actors but I don't think it would be a good idea. I love the movie just the way it is. :)

Of course I'm sure we'd all agree that it's high time Clint got round to making the follow up... Firefox Down.... ;)

Nobody better try remaking a Clint movie or they'll get their A$$ Kicked. >:(
Firefox could use some updated effects though, for a re-release DVD.
I remember reading Firefox Down many years ago and really liked it.
No spoilers, but Gant doesn't exactly make it back with the Firefox like you think.
I wished Clint would have made Firefox Down. Maybe he still can. He just couldn't play the role though.
Or someone else could make it. That would be fine.
Just don't dare try redoin' a Clint movie.

yes, i meant with other actors, and think about it, the movie was very good and cool in general, of course Clint Eastwood is a good actor, but i do not see why the idea of remaking this story wouldnt be cool.

Like i said, and i dont care if i repeat myself, this story is very cool, there's everything in it : action, suspense, technology, etc etc etc. Soooooo, why not remaking a modern version of it ?? One thing for sure, they would have to follow the story well, and choose great actors.

Also, like i said, this movie is very Metal Gear Solid like, if you never heard about MGS, it is a video game that was created by Hideo Kokima, and he himself said that the person that inspired him for the main character of the game(Solid Snake) was Clint Eastwood. There are rumors that a Metal Gear Solid movie is coming, but there is no official release date yet.

Which element of Metal Gear are similar to the movie ?

:  The story is set in 2005, where a genetically enhanced next-generation special forces unit commanded by FOXHOUND lead an armed uprising on a remote island in Alaska's Fox Archipelago. This island, codenamed Shadow Moses, is the site of a nuclear weapons disposal facility. The forces that seized this island have acquired the nuclear-capable mecha Metal Gear REX, and are threatening the US government with a nuclear reprisal if they do not receive the remains of the "legendary mercenary" Big Boss within 24 hours.

As the game begins, Solid Snake is forced out of retirement and is dispatched at the request of Colonel Roy Campbell to penetrate the terrorists' defenses and neutralize the threat.

In the game, Snake has to disguise himself to enter areas, he have to plant bombs to some places and many other things ressemble the movie Firefox.

In my opinion, the Metal Gear Solid movie might be a little similar to Firefox, im saying a little because its not the same story and only elements and some facts are similar to it.

I think that it would be really cool to have a remake of Firefox, here im not talking about remaking a "Clint's movie" but just to remake a cool movie.

 ;)

In my opinion, remaking a movie would indicate that the original wasn't very good, and someone can make it better.
I hate movie remakes. All of them.
Why not come up with something original?
If they want to make Metal Gear Solid, Go For It.
But don't make a movie calling it Firefox.
That would be a Darth Weinstein move. >:D

I completly disagree with you on that, remaking movies doesnt mean that originals sucks, not at all, on the contrary, they remake movies because they liked the originals very much and they think that it would be cool to remake it with today's technology.

They used to remake movies, and they were good. Use the actors of the day. But recently I haven't seen any remakes that were better than the Originals. Why? Because those who are making them these days don't CARE about the originals. We're NOT FANs of the originals. Have NO Respect for what came before them. I ask you, why would they allow a remake of a movie or tv show, when all who are involved, The Writer, The Producer, The Director, and the Main Actors, were never Big Fans of Originals. None of them care. All they see is $$$$. And the remake sucks.

I don't want to ever see a remake of an Eastwood movie because it CAN'T be done any better. Period.
Oh, it can be updated. But who cares.
Would you really want to see Ben Afflack or someone else inside the cockpit of Firefox?
What would be the big change to warrant a remake?
Would it still be the same movie?
Like I said, they could get John Dykstra to update the effects, and have a Special Edition DVD.
That would be cool.

not every Producers are like that, youre very negative..., you do not try to see the other side of the situation, i do not agree with you, but i respect your opinion.

I don't want to ever see a remake of an Eastwood movie because it CAN'T be done any better. Period.

im sorry but it would be better, here im talking about the graphics and the acting of some actors (not Clint Eastwood, you can refer to my first post for more details). I think it would be cool to remake this movie because the story is really cool, and with today's technology, Yes, some things would be better, but like i said, thats just because of today's technology. I never said that it would be better than the original in general(you sound like i said something bad about Clint), though it would be possible.

Would you really want to see Ben Afflack or someone else inside the cockpit of Firefox?

why not ?? though i would preffer someone else... but maybe he would be ok ? he isnt a bad actor.

What would be the big change to warrant a remake?
Would it still be the same movie?.

remakes are always different, everyone knows that, we are not learning anything new here... its normal, and we cant know in advance if a remake is going ro be good or bad, even if many remakes were bad.

I cant believe that no one else would think that it would be cool to have a remake of this cool story... oh well.....

Well I always TRY to respect others opinions, but I still must disagree.
I don't know what you mean about "other side of the situation".
Maybe I just don't see another side.
There would be no reason to remake it. (Again my opinion)
The story can't be changed. It's a book from an author. That's what Firefox is.
What would a new actor do? Run around and do pretty much all the same things that Clint and the other actors did.
It seems to me, you wish for a remake because of poor acting from a non-star, non-leading role actor(s).

Most remakes happen AFTER the Director/Actors are dead and have no say or control about it.
I believe Clint is still alive.
Anybody ever ask HIM if he's cool about his movies being remade while he is still alive?

Not necessarily. Psycho was a classic and they still made a remake (terrible, in my opinion), being The Island of Dr. Moreau the worst remake ever. They should have let the one with Burt Lancaster alone. So if the purpose of doing remakes is turning the movies in better versions, why they messed up with those ones?

I'm not die-hard against remakes but I wouldn't like a Firefox one. I really like that movie, it has always been one of my favorite. The tension, the suspense, Clint's acting, there's nothing to change about it.

Hope you can forgive me but, if in the future, some Clint movie turns into a remake, it could be Play Misty for Me.

I wouldn't want to see a remake of any Eastwood movie unless Clint actually directed it.  That would be about the only way.  Most remakes are awful.

I don't think there would be anything wrong if someone wanted to go back to the novel and readapt a screenplay (which is what I believe should have been done with the Psycho remake--since they insisted on remaking it). I'd be surprised to see anyone wanting to do that with Firefox. It's only an "okay" film, and honestly, I don't feel that Eastwood's performance is particularly special in it. So maybe there is room for improvement. ;)

I personally am not opposed to remakes but I do not think that a remake of Firefox would work. The Soviet Union is a totally different place today then it was back in 1982. That element of us vs. them back in the early 80's really helped with the suspense element for the film when it came out. This is just my opinion though.

Some would say that has already been remade as Fatal Attraction, with Michael Douglas back in 1987.

A play Misty remake has been on and off the cards in the last few years.
I can't remember (because I don't care enough) but the name Will Smith comes to mind.
