Misty, I edited your topic title. Hope you don't mind, but I was getting a bit tired of clicking on this one without having the faintest idea of what it was about.  ;)

I'm building myself a large film library, and Clint's films
are topping the list with 31 DVD's.  There are only seven
more that I will be getting (Play Misty, Space Cowboys,
Coogan's, Where Eagles, Tightrope, Honkytonk Man, and  White Hunter), but what I'd like to ask is do you
purchase all of Clint's available movies even if you don't
care for  the film?  I just can not see myself buying
The Rookie, Madison County,  or Pink Cadillac.

My list is kind of short after being robbed last year,  I did have quite the collection going on DVD but the thief helped himself to my nice Eastwood collection and the rest of the lot.  Santa was good to me last X-mas so it's getting back up there.  And yes, if I see and Eastwood DVD used that's not one of my favoritesI will buy it anyway.  Just like the Bond flicks and Bogart flicks that I have aquired.  Not all gems but all together they sparkle... ;D

Nightwing, my distaste for "Madison County" basically
stems from a strong distaste for the oh-so-popular
book it is based on. I really can't give you any other reason, but I really thought that book set our best seller lists back a thousand years.  I see  nothing wrong with books that capture a mass audience, but do you remember how this book was held up as some sort of
feminist's  Magna Carta?  This book was given so much
weight and relevance by the people I know who read it,
and I saw it as a blight on my beloved NY Times best
seller list.  I'm half-joking with that last statement,
but I'm also half serious.  Anyway, when I heard Clint
was going to be the one to bring this to the screen, I
was deeply saddened. Please, not this one, Clint!!!
He did, and I suppose I really never gave the film any chance at all because of my feelings for the  novel.

So far, here's my Eastwood DVD collection:

Dirty Harry Boxed set (5 movies there. Oh, I know you all know that, but so I can keep count. ;))
Man with No Name Triligy Boxed set (3 movies)
The Beguiled
Blood Work
Bronco Billy
The Eiger Sanction
The Gauntlet
In the Line of Fire
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
Unforgiven

16 in all so far.

I like pretty much every movie that Eastwood has made, but I don't really desire to have them all on DVD. But I suppose after I've gotten the others that I really want, I might fill in some of the gaps, but that'll be a long, long time before I do that.

Clyde, I've yet to hear anyone on this board admit to liking the book...  During our Bridges of Madison County film discussion, we discussed the book:

The Thread

But really, the movie should be judged independent of the book.

I have about half his movies on dvd now, but there are some it will be a long time before I acquire.  But this Sept. I definitely mean to pick up at least four more.

I have all the films on various formats, with the exception of Blood Work as i am waiting for R2 DVD.

I never watch the videos of The pre Fistful of dollars stuff, with the one exception to that being The Witches. I just love that one. It has to be the most unusual film of Clints career but at least he got to work with Desica.

Slowly replacing my VHS with DVD. Well as fast as they come out, but that's slowly.

The one thing i do not have is the Amaxzing Stories episode Vanessa In The Garden although I'm sure it'll turn up on Sci Fi sooner or later.

Just missing: Honky Tonk Man, Space Cowboys, & Bridges of Madison County.

I guess these count too: Birds, Breezy, Midnight, Witches, and any of his stand in movies before the Man with No Name began.

Most of my collection is on DVD.
