Thanks I did listen to the song and I was left covered in goosebumps.   The only other person who could do that to me was John Denver.

Lin, I moved your post about Troy Kennedy-Martin up to Eastwood News (with a new title), because of the Kelly's Heroes connection (Kennedy-Martin, a screenwriter, penned the script for Kelly's Heroes shortly after his big breakthrough, the script for The Italian Job. He died this month at the age of 77.)

I'll repeat here the link Lin posted to a career summary on the BBC site:

Here's a man whose name is not well-known (not to me at least) but who did a lot of good for all humanity: Dr. Ignacio Ponseti, orthopedist and inventor of a non-surgical cure for clubfoot.

May he, too, rest in peace.

Sad to hear of Edward Woodwood's passing..

The Wickerman's one of those movies once seen, never forgotten.

Richard Todd, dashing actor and real-life hero on D-Day, dies age 90

Quote
Near the end of his life Richard Todd, the actor who has died aged 90, was asked what it meant to be British. “To me,” he said, “it means fairness, good sense, decency, kindness, politeness.”

To that list he might have added heroism, and a certain understatement. Todd, the star who embodied all those virtues, may be best known now for his performance in The Dam Busters and a series of other war films in which matinee idol good looks and a stiff upper lip helped to defeat the Nazis.

He was the perfect actor to play the English man in uniform.    I enjoyed his movies.   RIP Richard.

Film writer Dan O'Bannon died a few days ago. He's most notable for writing the first Alien movie.
