I always go through this page every few weeks, as there is always someone well known, but not a huge name in Hollywood that passes away, but doesn't get mentioned here in the press, or if it does in such a tiny blurb you can easily miss it. I always get a little shock when I see a name that I recognise but didn't know they had left us.

Pernell Roberts passed away on January 24.

I was never a huge Bonanza fan but watched Trapper John MD in the early 80's as a kid. He was the last surviving member of the Cartwright Clan.

on Saturday Johnny Dankworth died.  His wife Jazz singer Cleo Laine announced it at a concert she was performing in with their children.  

He was one of my favourite jazz performers.    His music will live on.

I'm not sure how much of a celebrity he is, but no one's not thrown a frisbee around in their life.

Charlie Wilson, the fun-loving Texas congressman portrayed onscreen by Tom Hanks in 2007's affable international-intrigue flick Charlie Wilson's War, passed away on Wednesday. He was 76.

Lionel Jeffries died yesterday.   He was a British actor and also directed the movie The Railway Children.  He was also known for playing Grandpa Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.   he was 83.

Yeah, I did see that, but it only has 30 names on each page. The old link gave you the date and the just the persons name which you could click on. It was one continous page for the whole year.

The way it is now is so much more time consuming.

Well, you can sort it by death date. Click the column twice, and you'll get the most recently deceased people first.

Actor Andrew Koenig, who had a recurring role on the 80's TV show Growing Pains, had been missing the past few days in Vancouver. News just broke that they have found his body. Andrews dad is Walter Koenig best known as Chekov from the original Star Trek series cast.

DOVER, Tenn. – Charles B. Pierce, an independent filmmaker whose inexpensively made documentary-style drama "The Legend of Boggy Creek" influenced the hit film "The Blair Witch Project" decades later, has died at age 71.

Pierce, who grew up in Arkansas and made his films mostly in that state, died Friday at a Dover nursing home, according to Wayne Anglin of Anglin Funeral Home at Dover. A cause of death could not be obtained.

Pierce was born in Hammond, Ind., but moved to southwest Arkansas with his family as a child, according to a daughter, Amanda "Amy" Squitiero. He grew up in Hampton, Ark., and as an adult lived in nearby Texarkana, where he ran an advertising agency. But it was his 1972 low-budget movie that gained him fame.
