I've been incommunicado for a while, so, if it weren't for this Obituary Thread, I wouldn't know who died. (Maybe it's better when I don't know.)

RIP "Alfred", Jane, Annie, and Joe Morello...

I can't believe that I'm saying this in another century, let alone another millenium, but I was around when Take Five was out and popular, and all the jazz musicians who were my neighbors would go to each other's apartments to practice, and I could hear the beautiful music live! It was FANTASTIC!

RIP Michael Gough

I remember him as Alfred in Batman and Robin.  He was the epitome of an English butler.

Shadows legend Jet Harris dies from throat cancer, aged 71

Quote
Jet Harris, the original bass guitarist with The Shadows, has died from throat cancer, aged 71. Harris, who received an MBE for services to music last year, joined Cliff Richard’s backing group in 1959. They were then known as The Drifters, but Harris suggested they change their name to The Shadows.
He died in the early hours of yesterday at his partner Janet Hemingway’s home in Winchester, his agent, Peter Stockton, said.

Elisabeth Taylor was a great actress, so many beautiful and unforgettable movies in her career ... And I've often admired her for her involvment in AIDS fight (Amfar)...

Last time I saw her, it was in "Giant", during Christmas holidays, with my daughter Colette who discovered this master of piece for the first time ...

R.I.P Mademoiselle Taylor.

The image of her in Cleopatra reminds me of the video for MJ's "Remember The Time".  She called him the "True King of Pop, Rock & Soul"......but what did she know, anyway?  Regardless, RIP to an incredible woman.  God bless Elizabeth Taylor.

Here is the actual link to the New York Times obituary:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/24/movies/elizabeth-taylor-obituary.html

It's a good read. It ends like this ...

Quote
Married or single, sick or healthy, on screen or off, Ms. Taylor never lost her appetite for experience. Late in life, when she had one of many offers to write her memoirs, she refused, saying with characteristic panache, “Hell no, I’m still living my memoirs.”

You'll find a video tribute and a slideshow at the same URL.
