Dan Haggerty who played Grizzly Adams has passed away. I remember watching reruns of that show growing up as a kid. Always enjoyed watching it. Just a real nice peaceful show to watch. I actually bought the entire series which is only 2 seasons and the movie for my brother last Christmas.

Well, as an actor, Haggerty might not have been in the Alan Rickman/Brian Bedford class, but he was an interesting character. Here's a link to his obit in the New York Times, which I had missed when it appeared ... thanks for posting, Rawhide7.

I don't remember much specifically from the series, but I also remember watching Grizzly Adams as a kid.

It's been sad to hear of all of these deaths over the last week or so. I'm not familiar with Brian Bedford, but did see that he voiced Robin Hood in the 1973 Disney movie that I've always liked a lot.

Glenn Frey, Eagles Guitarist and Singer, Dies at 67

My wife and I saw The Eagles in concert in Boston. They performed 3 encores. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.  I was disappointed Frey didn't perform his huge hit, The Heat Is On even though he and Henley performed other solo hits.

God Bless You, Mr. Frey, sir.  May you Rest In Peace.

I skipped this thread -- reading 60+ pages of obits was something I "didn't find all that appealin'."

But now that I think about it, I bet I knew about this at the time, and forgotten.  That seems to happen more and more these days. :-[

" Ettore Scola: Italian film director dies aged 84 "

 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35358908

Quote
The double Oscar nominated Italian director and writer Ettore Scola has died aged 84, Italian media reports.
He had been in a coma since Sunday after being admitted to the cardiac surgery unit of a hospital in Rome, according to the reports.
His 1974 work A Special Day, which he wrote and directed, received Best Foreign Film and Best Actor nominations for star Marcello Mastroianni.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said Scola was a screen "master".
His death left a "huge void in Italian culture", Mr Renzi tweeted (in Italian).
Scola directed 41 films and wrote the screenplay for almost 90, according to the Internet Movie Database.
He performed both roles in A Special Day, which saw Mastroianni and Sophia Loren develop a relationship against the backdrop of fascist 1930s Italy.
Other works include We All Loved Each Other So Much, The Family and Ugly, Dirty and Bad - for which he won best director at the Cannes film festival in 1976.

I remember watching Barney Miller as a kid... he seemed old then.  When I saw that he had died, a stray thought ran through my mind, wondering if he was ever young.

R.I.P. Abe.

I loved his guest spots on Conan O' Brien when the show was in New York.  He showed a small clip compilation/tribute to him last night.  RIP Abe Vigoda
