I dont know if anyone might know this but does anyone know if the .44 Auto-Mag used in Sudden Impact, was the same one that Harry Sanford gave to Clint Eastwood in real life?

Hey everyone, I was searching the internet earlier and found an awsome website! It's full of almost nothing but .44 Auto-Mags. If you guys want something really cool to read or to print out, go to www.glossover.co.uk/AMT/, then scroll down and click on "downloads" on the left side of the screen. Then scroll down until you see "Magazine Articles." Then keep scrolling down until you see the "Guns and Ammo" Articles, and find the article titled - "Dirty Harry's Baddest Magnum." It is unbelievable!  O0

Let me know what you guys think of it  :)

Christopher O. I have merged your three topics regarding the Auto Mag into one thread seeing how they pretty much cover the same subject... :)

Chrispopher O, very interesting reading the article from Guns and Ammo from 1984.   Thanks for the link.

I have not heard that Harry Sanford gave Clint an Auto Mag.  I did know that Harry Sanford designed “Clint 2” for the movie Sudden Impact, but on loan only.  I know that “Clint 2” was designed to function and fire blank cartridges only while “Clint 1" was a fully operational semi-automatic.  (Maybe Harry gave Clint the “Clint 1”?)

The first link was not working.  You have an extra s on the end. I have hyperlinked it to the direct thread below:

AutoMagpistol.com

According to AutoMagpistol.com “Clint 2” sold just a few days ago for $60,000.

Wow!

"That’s a hell of a price to pay for being stylish!"

Below is a letter from AMT to Warner Brother explaining that Clint 2 is strictly on loan.

Below is an actual letter from Clint Eastwood to Harry Sanford stating, yes, that “Clint 2” was indeed the Auto Mag used in the movie Sudden Impact…

Check out this Youtube below.
It's sick how the rear sight wobbles when the gun is fired.  I have never seen anything qutie like it.

AutoMag fired in Slo-Mo
Now that's what I call recoil...

Definitely the Clint-2 is way better than the Clint-1  8).

Uh $60 K is much easier to pay than being "stylish."

I can't remember.  In Sudden Impact, did it say how Harry got the gun?

I found in one of the links above that:
THE ORIGIN OF HARRY'S AUTOMAG

In the novel, the film's screenwriter reveals Harry's introduction to the Automag:

Harry had received it as a gift.  The grateful husband of a hostage and potential murder victim was a master gunsmith.  A few months after Harry had rescued his wife from the mess of a botched bank robbery, he had sent him the boxed gun and a card that read, "You saved my wife's life.  Maybe this will help to save yours.".

In his time as a cop, Harry had never accepted a thing, not even a free cup of coffee.  But he accepted this gift.
