This standoff reminds me of the film,The Ox-Bow Incident

That's one of Clint's favorite films and it's one reason he wanted to do this script as his first American film in which he'd have a starring role.

Bruce Dern copped a lot of flak for killing John Wayne in a movie. I wonder what would have happened had he killed Clint in this.  :D
