Upon their original release, films are promoted by posters of various formats, but also by means of such things as book tie-in editions, soundtracks, novelty items, and of course advertisements in the press. When they are released on video, the artwork chosen or created for the video packages becomes part of the promotional material. If your collection includes promotional items other than posters and lobby cards for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, or if you would just like to post images and discuss them, this thread is the place.

Has anyone read the book tie-in? Is it different in parts that some books are to the film? I've got the tie-in for Fistful of Dollars, but I can't remember ever seen one for GBU.

That's my copy up there ...  Wink

I've skimmed it. It's based on the original Italian screenplay, so it includes some material that didn't make it into the finished film.

Perhaps the most striking detail is the names of the lead characters. Tuco is Tuco, but for Angel Eyes they just went with the Italian, "Sentenza" (meaning "sentence"). And Blondie is known as ... Whitey. Which was a perfectly good man's nickname back in the day ... Whitey Ford, anyone?

It shouldn't be hard to find on the Net ... you won't even need a fistful of dollars, a couple of bucks ought to do it. Try this link:

Heres are another two publications

This one would have been a great poster.  I love the artwork on this one.

The technical term is "editions," Davy Triumph ... those are two other editions of Joe Millard's novelization of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Wink

Thanks for posting those ... I agree, the second one would have made a very striking poster. Cool

OUCH KC,  I feel as if I have just been reprimanded over my poor grasp of English. Wink

Don't mind me, Davy Triumph ... as a librarian, I have to worry about things like "editions." The rest of you needn't bother!
