Completely by mistake, I recently won an auction from an auctioneers in the UK. 

It was listed as "Coogans Bluff UK Quad 30 X 40".  There was no picture to rate it.  I decided, if I got it at a decent price, it would be worth having a second copy of the poster.

I phoned them to place a bid. There was no internet bidding. I was buying blind.

I won it for a steal.

When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. 

This is a version that I have NEVER seen before.

An educated guess, I would say that this is a very rare teaser poster for the film.

If anybody has any other info on it please let me know.

I'm no poster expert but is that really a poster?

To me it just looks like a newspaper review of the film blown up to poster size. There is no cast list or anything like that, that normally appears.

At the time, it wasn't uncommon for newspapers and magazines to be used in a film's publicity. A case in point is the Dirty Harry "standee," featuring photgraphs from the Life magazine cover story:

I just won this one at auction and while not overly keen on

I won this from emovieposter a couple of months back.

Look at the state of the poor thing.  It is in a very fragile state.  Obviously, it been has  been a quick print run.  Very basic.  I would like a year on it, but there are no markings, my guess would be early 70`s.  If anyone can enlighten me, then please do so.

What's the GP stand for? Consult you local doc after seeing this film?

We have PG here as in Parental Guidance so I assume it's something to do with its rating.

From Motion Picture Association of America film rating system -

The ratings used from 1970 to 1972 were:

    Rated G: All Ages Admitted. General Audiences.
    Rated GP: All ages Admitted. Parental Guidance Suggested.
    Rated R: Restricted. Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.
    Rated X: No One Under 17 Admitted.

Also in 1970 the ages of viewers admitted to R- and X-rated movies was raised from 16 to 17. It was then changed from 17 to 18 for X to stop underage kids from seeing porn.  However, the age on the X rating varied per the jurisdiction.

By 1972, parents perceived the "GP" rating as not indicative of a film's true content. In 1971, the MPAA added content advisories such as: Contains material not generally suitable for pre-teenagers. In February 1972 the MPAA replaced the GP rating with the new PG rating.


There we have it I suppose !
