" Warner Bros. attempts early Oscar domination and sets dates for two buzz-worthy films " Holly Coletta http://thecelebritycafe.com/feature/warner-bros-attempts-early-oscar-domination-and-sets-dates-two-buzz-worthy-films-06-30-2011 Fresh off of the release of the trailer for Steven Spielberg's Oscar-ready War Horse, Warner Bros. has award-season chatter filling the air once again with its announcement of (vague) release dates for two anticipated films.
The production company has secured an October date for Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar and a December release was given to Stephen Daldry's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Deadline reports.
The webiste notes that this move puts both films "right in the middle" of Oscar season.
The former is a biopic about "controversial and enigmatic" FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover and boasts an Oscar-friendly cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Watts and The Social Network's Armie Hammer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, on the other hand, is based off of a novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, and tells the story of a family who is directly impacted by the tragic events of 9/11. Oscar-winners Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock lead the cast.
Neither Eastwood nor Daldry are strangers to taking home shiny gold men. Eastwood has won a Best Director award two out of four times he's been nominated, and all three of Daldry's past films have earned him Best Director nominations.

On Location Photos ( link) More fan photos from the set of ‘J. Edgar’ in D.C. last spring by Christine on July 26, 2011
One of our readers, Jenn C., checked out the Washington D.C. set of J.Edgar back in March in hopes of seeing the film’s star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Though she wasn’t lucky enough to meet Leo, she did get a glimpse of him, writer Dustin Lance Black, and met the film’s director, Clint Eastwood, along with Leo’s co-stars Armie Hammer and Naomi Watts. ...
