I just saw something online that said:

Quote
Say this: Rise up lights

And then the caption reads, "Congrats! You are now an Australian saying, 'Razor blades.'" ;D

Going to be a tough Christmas for some. This has been ongoing for a couple of months and with no rain what so ever, it's a grim picture. :(

ABC News

It's been a tough couple of months for a lot of people around Australia. Today's temp in Sydney's west is 45 celcius. 113 Fahrenheit! :o

There are no words for what's going on over there. Is the area you live still safe, SK?

I too have been horrified to read about the fires over there. We've had bad ones in this country too, but that sounds even worse. Stay safe, but beyond that ... I wish the whole country could find some relief from this. Of course animals are suffering too. A month or so ago, before these latest catastrophes, we were alreadu hearing reports of how hard it has been on the koalas.

I know SK doesn't need to see any more pictures, but for those of you who have managed to avoid this news, here is a selection of hair-raising images:

ďIíve seen fire and Iíve seen rain.Ē

What a difference a week makes. Last weekend, hot and 40C +. This weekend, 20C and three days of constant torrential rains. 😳😳😳

This week marked the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook's landing in Australia. April 29th 1770.

Quote
On 29 April 1770, explorer James Cook arrived in Australia. He would later claim the region for the British crown.

But celebrations in Australia for the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook's voyage have been a muted affair.

This is mainly down to the coronavirus lockdown but there is also significant unease over marking the "discovery" of a land already inhabited for millennia.
