Pages fall apart. The center cannot hold.

Is this better?  I made it max at 1240px?

I like it! It was a bit of a surprise at first. But I'm one of those with an insanely wide monitor. Let's see what others think.

Cool...I can change width to suit others.  May be too wide now for some?

Crikey!! I'm away for a few days and I get back to a whole new look. As Matt said, a little surprising at first but I can get used to it.  8)

I preferred it without the border, but the way it is now isn't too much different. I'm good with it.

I never have my browser window fullscreen, but I notice if I do maximize it, the border becomes much wider while the forum part stays the same width. Conversely, if I resize my browser window to about half the screen width, the border disappears and the forum part gets cut off so you can't read it all. I don't remember if it was like that before, but I just checked another forum (uses vBulletin, not Simple Machines), and it doesn't work like that. The forum has a narrow border, which stays constant even when maximized, and no matter how narrow you make the browser window (up to about 1/4 screen width anyway), the text just wraps so you can read the whole thing.

I changed it back.

I am concerned yes that people on smaller devices will have the page cut off.

There should be a way to have it with a max width setting which would be a good compomise.  I am looking into how to do.

Ok.  I made another change to hopefully suit all people.

The board will at most be 1240px. Depending on the size of your screen / browser:

1) If your screen is wider then you will have a border
2) If you are smaller you will not have a border
3) If you are less than 564, the page will cut off.

This should work for most everyone I think, and hopefully there are no side effects.  Let me know if something looks weird now.

I think this is great and should satisfy everyone.

Here's what it looks like now with my browser window maximized (1,672 pixels). I resized it to 800 pixels wide.

And here is about where I usually have my browser window: about 1,200 pixels or a little wider (resized to 800):

And with the window sized down to about the max before the text starts to get cut off ... about 500 pixels (actual size):

Great job, Richard, thanks!  8)
