My favorite part is the "get 3 coffins ready" at the beginning.
That's just pure eastwood, I don't know, I just love it. And when he comes back and says "sorry, 4 coffins" (This is probably inacurate as I haven't watched it in a while) it gets even better!

Also the "you see my mule don't like people laughing. Gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him"

Boy, that movie is good!

That 'three coffins/four coffins' line was pretty good, but I always loved the Mule speech. Brilliant!! And the way Eastwood delivers it was gold!! Gold, Jerry, GOLD!!

There are so many good lines in this movie.

Here's from Matt's quote web site of the full scene that's been spoken of several times in this thread already:
Quote
JOE: (To Piripero) Get three coffins ready.

MAN: Adios, Amigo.

MAN 2: We don't like to see bad boys like you in town.

MAN 3: Go get your mule. You let him get away from you?

JOE: You see, that's what I want to talk to you about. He's feeling real bad.

MAN 3: Huh?

JOE: My mule. You see, he got all riled up when you men fired those shots at his feet.

MAN 2: Hey, are you making some kind of joke?

JOE: No. See, I understand you men were just playin' around. But the mule, he just doesn't get it. Of course, if you were to all apologize.

(The men laugh. Joe moves the poncho aside, exposing his pistol.)

JOE: I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. See, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it......

(Pause as music builds, men draw their guns. Joe draws his and fires five shots.)

JOHN BAXTER: I saw the whole thing. You killed all four of them. You'll pay all right. You'll be strung up.

JOE: (Draws gun) Who are you?

JOHN BAXTER: I'm John Baxter, sheriff.

JOE: Yeah, well, if you're the sheriff, you'd better get those men underground. (Lowers poncho and walks off, passing Piripero.) My mistake. Four coffins.

I’ve got two answers to this question …

Let me do a little scene describing:

Ramon pacing his walk down the stairs to a steady rhythm while breeching loads into the chamber of his Winchester ’73  one by one by unloading the lead into the (amazing repairing) steel knights suit of aromor in the shape of a heart.

(Which, on further review by the archive specialist, looks as if Ramon did infact have his “steel” replaced on that joint of that amour KC..That’s a goof question from way back..
Anyway…

Joe:  “Good shooting.  Very good shooting…”

Ramon:  “When you want to kill a man, you must shoot for the heart and the Winchester is the best weapon.

Joe:  “That’s very nice, but I’ll stick with my .45’s”

Ramon:  “When a man with a .45 meets a man with a rifle, the man with the pistol will be a  dead man.  That’s an old Mexican proverb… and it’s true…”

Do you believe that?

Second:

Joe walking out of the dynamite blast at the end:

Ramon:  “Gringo!”

Joe:  “Heard you wanted to see me …”

Ramon:  “The americano’s dead.” Clicking of shell into chamber …

Joe:  “Let the old man down!(REPORT!) What’s wrong Ramon, loosing your touch? REPORT  Are you afraid Ramon?”

Gravedigger: “ Ha, Hew, Hah…”

Joe:  “You shoot to kill, you better hit the heart.(clicking)  Your own words Ramon.  REPORT! REPORT! “The heart Ramon.  Don’t forget the heart.  Shoot the heart or you’ll never stop me.  REPORT! REPORT! REPORT! Clicking of empty magazine…

That's some great scene describing, D'Amb.  :)

This is one of my favorites, also:

Quote
RAMÓN::  When a man with a .45 meets a man with a rifle, the man with the pistol will be a  dead man.  That’s an old Mexican proverb… and it’s true…

I've got so many favorites but I don't want to post them all... I'll leave some to others to post.  But other than some great quotes that have already been mentioned in this thread, I'll add this favorite of mine:

Quote
ESTEBAN: What are you doing?

JOE: Moving.

ESTEBAN: But did you know all our men live here with us?

JOE: That's all very cozy but I don't find you men all that appealin'.

Ah....  But I did never finish my two part answer....

This is my favorite quote of the flick:

“When a man with a .45 meets a man with a rifle… You said the man with the pistol is a dead man…Let’s see if that’s true…….Go ahead, load up and shoot…”

I appologize that I do not remember the exact words to quote.  The scene is Joe and the Bartender setting up the dead soldiers in the Cemetary.  The Bartender says something about being with the dead when he's dead and wanting to be with the living while alive.  I forget exactly how it went, but I remember chuckling at it.

and
