Hi, theape, and welcome to the Eastwood Web Board. I hope you don't mind, but I've moved your post here to Questions & Answers.

I'm not sure the movie you're trying to find the name of is a Clint Eastwood movie. The only movie in which he played a cop who had a daughter was Tightrope. In fact, he had two daughters in that movie, but neither was of college age or living in a dorm. The two girls live with their father, who is divorced. The oldest, played by Eastwood's own daughter Alison, is about twelve.

The killer in Tightrope does eventually attack Eastwood's character's daughter (she survives, but is traumatized), but the rest of the plot details you give don't jibe.

Does anyone know what movie theape might be thinking of?

theape, I think your movie is 10 to Midnight (directed by J. Lee Thomson, 1983). It starred Charles Bronson, and Clint Eastwood did not appear in it. Here's a brief synopsis, from the Internet Movie Database:

Quote
A serial killer gets his kicks by knifing his victims while naked. A veteran cop, Leo Kessler, believes that he has found the killer and plants fake evidence to obtain a conviction. When this "evidence" is discovered, the killer is released, and plans his revenge by stalking Kessler's daughter...

Yep, sounds like 10 to Midnight. Been a long time since I've seen it, but I do remember the detail about him planting evidence to get the guy.

Sorry I missed this thread until the question was already answered. Funny, I only watched this movie a few weeks ago. I still quite like it.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
