This was a treat. All those voices you hear on hit records but never knew who they are. Interesting how some of these back up singers tried to make it on their own but could never be a lead singer or weren't given the opportunity to shine up front.

You should watch The Wrecking Crew. Very similar concept, except it's all the musicians who played on all the classics from the 60s, when you thought it was the actual band playing. (Pet Sounds, for example.)

(Off-topic: You know, there's a famous drummer Bernard Purdie who claims to have played drums on many of the Beatles songs, but in that case he's a nutcase, no matter how good a drummer he might be.)

This documentary covers corrupt cops in a New York precinct in the late '80s and early '90s, and focuses on one officer in particular who went from being an idealistic rookie to a big-time drug dealer.  If you like Sidney Lumet style crime-dramas and/or grew up in NY, then this is worth a watch.

This looks very interesting. I'll keep an eye out for this.

Dave Prowse who portrayed Darth Vader in the original three Star Wars films is the focus of this doco. Very interesting. His relationship with Lucasfilm has been strained since 1983 when it was wrongly reported that Prowse had told the press the Darth Vader was being killed off.

George Lucas was furious and hasn't spoken to Prowse since. Also when Vader's mask is taken off at the end of Return Of The Jedi, another actor was brought in to shoot that scene. It was shot on another studio stage with all the doors locked so Prowse would not find out.

Spanish filmmaker Marcos Cabotá tracks down Prowse in the hope of refilmimg the unmasking scene, this time with Prowse.

They do film it but we never get to see it.

The Battered Bastards of Baseball is a must for all baseball fans. I came across this on Netflix and knew nothing on the story and was fascinated for the entire runtime of this doco.

In the early 1970's Bing Russell (Kurt's dad) runs the only independent baseball team in the USA. All other teams are affiliated with major league clubs but not the Portland Mavericks. To recruit players they advertise in the paper for open tryouts and hundreds show up for a chance. Not for big bucks but a chance to play for the love of the game.

A real against the odds story.
