A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS: Acting: 3. The Co-Stars and Minor Characters

What do you think of the performances of the co-stars? Which performances strike you as being particularly good, or particularly bad ... or particularly ugly?

Many of the character actors turn up in the other Leone-Eastwood films, notably Maria Brega (Chico), Benito Stefanelli (Rubio), Aldo Sambrell (Rojo henchman) and Antonio Molino Rojo (Baxter henchman), who were in all three. Do you recall any of them from other Leone roles? If so, which is the role you like best?

Maria Brega is the only one of those listed that I can know who they are, and what parts they played in all three of these movies. He's always good.

I've always enjoyed Marianne Koch's performance as Marisol. However, Marisol's son is always whining like a little kid or something. He does a good job.

Its becuase he was a little kid!!  

Yeah, Marianne Koch was pretty good, even though she pretty much had no lines, she still did a good job with facial expressions.

The Undertaker was played well, and so was the bartender friend of Joe, I cant remember his name, and yet I just watched the movie today!!

I don't like Marianne Koch's performance that much. I think she mostly has the same look on her face... But maybe I'm just jealous because she's more beautiful than I am

Marianne Koch's performance is, IMO, not outstanding.  She doesn't seem to change her facial expression no matter what is happening to her. 

The child is awful.  As I remarked during the movie night, I would have rather he cried than whining.  Real crocodile tears. I found him quite unbelievable.

Joseph Egger made this movie just a year before he died. I think he played Piripero to perfection bringing so lightness to a very violent story.

In fairness to the kid actor (Nino Del Arco, uncredited, according to the IMDb), it wasn't necessarily his performance that was so bad ... it was the performance of whoever was dubbing him into English.

Another actor who deserves a mention, I think, is Margarita Lozano as Consuelo Baxter. I often wish we knew just a bit more about her. Why did she marry Baxter, the American intruder, in the first place?
