In this week's Double Issue of Entertainment Weekly (for July 5th and 12th), they give a list of the 100 best movies. Dirty Harry is the only Eastwood title on the list, and it comes in at number 85. Here's what it says about the film:

Clint Eastwood gives a mythic performance as a lean, mean police enforcer out to wipe the streets of San Francisco clean of "scum" in this furious, drum-tight urban Western. It's the single greatest expression of Eastwood's populist fury.
