Rather see Mickey Rourke in the role than overrated Cooper

I'd prefer an adapted screenplay,so that Clint could play the lead :)

Maybe 45 years ago Antonis. Chris Kyle was in his 30's.

From a recent interview with Bradley Cooper:

Quote
Next he goes into American Sniper, a true story which starts shooting April 1st under Clint Eastwood’s direction. He starts training on Monday for the demanding role of the late Navy Seal Chris Kyle, known as the most lethal sniper in American history.

According to Bradley Cooper, the star of the movie, this is supposed to start filming April 1st. Does anybody find it strange that there hasn't been any news on this project given that filming is imminent? They better get busy casting if filming is starting in less than two months!

April 1st feels a long way off to me too, KC. DC weather sure is different from the weather in San Diego, California! ;)

Eastwood can bring a subversive complexity to the movie that would be great. If he can make a film with the craftsmanship he brought to UNFORGIVEN then AMERICAN SNIPER will be a film to stand out from the obvious

There's a short interview with Eastwood in the Carmel Pine Cone. They interviewed Eastwood about his recent life-saving efforts ;) In that interview, he talks a little about this film:

Quote
He’s also beginning work on his next film, “American
Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper.
“It’s the story of Chris Kyle, who was a Navy SEAL with
four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Eastwood said. “He had
160 confirmed kills as a sniper, and probably another 100
that he probably got....”

“It’s a wild, tragic story,” Eastwood said.

This is a fact-based drama, but if you don't already know the story of Chris Kyle, and don't want to know why it's a wild, tragic story, don't click on the link. My sincere apologies to Schofield Kid for posting this earlier without thinking that some would not be familiar with the story of Chris Kyle.

There's not a whole lot of info here, but Eastwood and Cooper were apparently in Chris Kyle's hometown, presumably scouting locations or doing background research for this film.

It looks like casting is in full swing now. Sienna Miller has apparently landed the role of Kyle's wife, which is the leading female role. She is reported to be in talks but the article makes it seem like she's Eastwood's choice for the role. I'm not especially familiar with her, but I do recall seeing her in an independent film called "Interview." She was quite good in her role, which was the female lead in the film.

Cory Hardrict has been cast as a supporting lead in Clint Eastwood's upcoming film American Sniper. The actor, husband of actress Tia Mowry, will star opposite Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller. Eastwood hand selected Cory for the role, it will be Cory’s second film with the Oscar-winning director. The pair previously worked together in Gran Torino.

Since he was a terrible actor in "Gran Torino," I'm not sure he is the best choice for this movie, but we will have to see.

I don't remember what role Cory Hardrict played in Gran Torino. I looked it up on IMDb but that doesn't ring a bell.

Aw, okay, thanks. I'd wondered if he'd been a gang member in the movie.

Yeah, I am totally with you on that Christopher. I too figured he was a gang member in the movie but I didn't remember his name either initially. When I saw he was in "Gran Torino," I looked for pictures from "Gran Torino" using his name and recognized him. He was one of the main gang members in the scene where Eastwood scares the crap out of the black gang members who were hassling Sue before telling her to get into the truck!
