Improv comedy is definitely Colin Mochrie

Chris Farley was hillarilous on Saturday Night Live. Conan O'Brien  is also hillarious.

Favorite Stand up is way too tough...
George Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Brian Regan, Lewis Black, Ellen Degeneress...

If I had to choose I would say Kevin James followed up by George Lopez.

Favorite Stand up is way too tough...
George Lopez, Wanda Sykes,

Wow. George Lopez is not funny and niether is Wanda Sykes. Lopez is just an idiot and Sykes is just extremely annoying. Remember the Emmy telecast when she attempted to interview Bill Cosby? That was some good awkwardness. Cosby looked like he was ready to strangle her while eatting some pudding.

And Conan, Sarah Silverman is pretty funny. She's always good on Conan O'Brien.

Bill Cosby

I've always liked Sinbad too. Haven't seen him around in a while though.

And though I haven't really heard much from his stand up routines, Bob Newhart will always be a favorite. I love that dry humor. Dave Letterman falls under that category too. Speaking of The Late Show, I always like to see Mitch Hedberg on the show as well. Something about his style I really like. His general approach to standup.

I've heard most of Adam Sandler's most recent album and got a kick out of some of those bits.

I know he's not funny to everyone... but he's funny to me.
There's quite a few comedians in this thread who I don't think are funny at all, so I guess "yanks" don't laugh at just "anything".  But at least I recognize that other people can think they're funny and not lump everyone from one country into the same category of being easily amused.

he's very funny in his movies, but i've only seen a video of his stand up and he didn't seem funny at all.
still don't understand american humour though.you make it too easy for them.

I couldn't really tell you why I think Adam Sandler is funny. While I can appreciate humor that has a more 'intellectual' basis to it, Adam makes me laugh at absolutely stupid things. Sort of like the Three Stooges, but for some reason, it's more respectable to like them.

I have most of Adam's CDs, and I even surprise myself at how stupid some of those tracks are, and yet I still find myself cracking up at them.  I think everytime I bring up liking Adam Sandler, I hear it from someone. And I always say the same thing... people have different senses of humor. It's an individual thing that makes us... well... individuals.  :D

I know Gant said Lee Evans. I used to like him when I was about 10, but recently I found him to be not that funny, but I'm not sure if that's to over watching it.

If he does another tour, and has some new material, maybe I love him like I once did.

No, I believe Matt has said he thinks Adam Sandler is funny.  I personally think he's funny, too,

if not why doesn't he ever change - to be fair i haven't seen all his movies

Well, that's what I did......watched all of his movies and that's how I decided he was funny.  His movies have a very sweet charm about them as well.  :)

Why should he change?  What he's doing now is working for him AND some of the rest of us.

You ever seen Punch Drunk Love, vik? It's as far from Adam Sandler as you can possibly get. And he gives probably the best performance of his career.

How can Adam Sandler get as far away from Adam Sandler as possible? ???

 ;)

Hehe, this reminds me of something: I remember when The Truman Show came out and I heard someone say it wasn't good because it wasn't a "Jim Carrey movie."

Heh heh, yeah... I meant that it's not the typical Sandler performance we're all so used to seeing in his movies. He actually tried to be differant and it worked. It wasn't him making poop and pee jokes and yelling at people with a some crazy accent to be funny. He completely surprised me with the performance and it's a shame he hasn't done any more films like this.

Same thing here. Jim Carrey was differant in The Truman Show. He still had some of the Carrey we're used to in it but there was just something else there that was new and refreshing to see. Much like his performances in Man on the Moon or The Majestic. He can do it but it just seems his die hard fans can't get past the slap stick sillyness of Carrey which is unfortunate.

I don't like Jim Carrey's comedy at all, but I do like some of his movies that aren't comedies: The Truman Show and Man on the Moon were both terrific.

If you don't like him, you don't like him. Why bother? If you don't like Happy Gilmore, then you probably wouldn't like any of his other comedies.

I don't think that Punch Drunk Love is a really good movie. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, if they were a fan of his, or if they weren't. The only thing you can say about it is that it's different.

My personal fav...I dont know, maybe Jerry seinfeld :)
I like chris rock and martin lawrence also

Personnally, I think Adam Sandler is great.
I dont know why people keep putting him down...Of course his humour is not really smart or anything , but then its not meant to be that way. His movies are just light hearted comedies and if hes always playing the same lovable goof character, its because thats the way his fans like him.
I wish people would take art (movies, music whatever) more for what it is..accusing Adam sandler of not beeing funny because he's not intellectual enough is like saying Evil dead was a bad movie beacause its not realistic :-\

as for JIm Carrey..I watched man on the moon yesterday and its definately his best performance to me...I like him in a couple other flicks but I dont think I can sit through any of the Ace Ventura's

I like John stewart too

Sandler is an easy target for alot of people.  "Happy Gilmore" is hilarious, one of the best sports movies I've seen.  "Billy Madison" was pretty good and "The Wedding Singer" was great.
Now I do think that the one where he played the son of the devil was crap and "Eight Crazy Nights" was maybe the worst animated movie I've ever seen.

He is hit and miss with movies these days, but still a funny guy.

I think Sandler is very funny. His stand-up isn't the best, but he was halarious on SNL. Some of his movies are funny also.

I used to like Jon Steward. But recently he has just bashed Bush. He would do 2 Bush jokes, than 1 Kerry to "balance it". Just kinda ticked me off a little.

happy gilmore was good, i nearly died laughing at the "you eat pieces of sh!t for breakfast " gag, but i never got into the rest of his stuff. little nicky wasn't that bad though.
seinfeld, it was a bit weird wasn't it, the sitcom was a bit hit and miss but his stand up routine at the end was class.

My favorite Aussie comedian was Graham Kennedy.Sadly he passed away a couple of weeks ago.He was known as The king of television here down under. There was no one bigger during the early years of t.v. in the 50's.I only remember him from the 70's game show Blankety Blanks, but have seen clips from his early work and it would have me rolling on the floor. The man was a genius.Unless you're an Aussie you probably have never heard of him apart from several film roles including The Last Angry Shot,The Club and The Killing Fields among others.
