I'm bringing this thread over from the old board...

Is it from 'Every Which Way But Loose'?
-
Thanks for having a go Nightwing!
But you are a year out ;)
-Stranger-
-
Ok, then its gotta be either from The Gauntlet or Escape From Alcatraz. :P
-
Well, don't forget Nightwing, we have to say who said it, what scene etc etc...
-Stranger-
-
Hi Stranger ,
I think its Litmus pretending to Charlie Butts that he has only just leart to play poker in Escape from Alcatraz
Philo .
-
YEAH!!!!!!!
Nice one Philo!
-Stranger-
-
Oops ,
I just realised I needed to post here .
" How are we gonna find him "
Philo .
-
Before two solid months are up , I am moving this back to the top .
Matt you normally go for mine ?
Philo .
-
??? I'd like to solve it Philo, I just don't know it. But, I ran through the list of films and came up with two in which that quote might be found. I'll try this one first...
Honkytonk Man, said by Hoss to Red, regarding Arnspringer.
-
Good , but not the one .
I bet it's the next one .
Philo .
-
Okay Philo... the other one I thought of is in Firefox, and it would be said by some of the Russian men regarding Gant.
*crosses fingers*
-
No not that one either ......
This is from the film I normally quote from .... but where .
Philo .
-
I knew after posting that last guess that it had to be in one of "your" movies.
It's not really fair of me to keep aimlessly guessing, although I think I might know it now. If anyone can get it, step up to the plate, if not... I promise to look it up this weekend.
-
Found it! (Finally :-\ )
Sorry about the wait, Philo. It's from Every Which Way But Loose, right after Frank and Elmo have the run in with Philo (with Orville and Lynn) at the diner. Back at Black Widow Headquarters...
CHOLLO: The very first thing we do is find out WHO we're talking about. I mean... we don't even know where to find him.
ELMO: How are we gonna find him?
CHOLLO: Well it appears to me that there can't be too many guys driving around this valley with an ape!
;D
Trivia's been dead lately... is there anyone out there? Where's Stranger been? I realized last night he hasn't been around for a month now. :(
I thought my Eastwood quote would be answered pretty quickly too... but it's still there, waiting for a month for someone to come along and solve it... anyone?
Long forgotten Eastwood Quote trivia game (http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=33;start=15)
I'll be back tonight with a new non-Eastwood quote. :)
-
Okay, this one is a little easier, I think. Hopefully we'll get some responses.
What I can't figure out is... with all this kind of action going on in here, what are you doing out there couchin' it?
-
All I can think of is possibly a Dirty Harry movie? ??? ???
-
It's not a Dirty Harry movie ... it's one of the movies you should have studied for our biweekly film discussions. ;)
-
Well I didn't study ..... but Its the lady who has the rare luck to have every line she utters being funny and spot on for the scene .
It is Birdie , Dave Garver's cleaning lady commenting on the state of the place and to why Dave is alone . The film Play Misty for me .
" Hey your'e good man ! "
Philo .
-
Well I didn't study .....
You didn't need to... you've studied them for... how many years? :D
Good job, Philo!
-
Stranger its from Play Misty For Me :P
-
Stranger its from Play Misty For Me :P
Skippy, what question are you answering? We're looking for the answer to Philo's:
Hey, you're good man!
-
Moving this back to the top , I thought this was easy .
It is someone impressed by some swift moves .
Philo .
-
Matt ,
You must know this .
Philo .
-
Maybe I do! I just had to think a few minutes.
I'm pretty sure it's Jack Wilson to Philo in Any Which Way You Can... as for the exact scene.... that's where I'm stumped. Would it be the scene where they fight together the "rough crowd" at the bar where Lynn is performing?
-
Thanks for having a go Matt ,
For once Philo has quoted from a non Clyde film .
Philo .
-
LMAO, okay okay... I guess I'll have to think a little harder now.
It sounded like a possibiity! ;D
-
Any takers ...... or shall I reveal all and post another or move on for someone else .
It is someone impressed by some swift moves .
This is from a great scene in a great movie .
Philo .
-
Moving this back to the top , I thought this was easy .
It is someone impressed by some swift moves .
Philo .
Lightfoot to Thunderbolt... one of the deleted scenes? :o ;D
-
Matt ,
Are you suggesting there were semi gay scenes that were so obvious that they has to hit the cutting room floor ;)
You may not know it but you are correct .....
But where in the film ?
Are you surprised ?
Well done ..... sort of .
Philo .
-
After posting that, I gave serious thought to the fact that it sounded like Lightfoot...so where could it be? Hmmm... let me think (clear minded this time) and see what I can come up with.
-
Found it! Lightfoot does say that to Thunderbolt right after Thunderbolt dodges the rifle-bearing, bunny-shooting crazy driver (Bill McKinney) and fights him to the ground.
-
I told you eight posts or so back that you knew it . ;)
Well done Matt ,
This is our thread .
Philo .
-
Thanks, Philo.
Here's the next:
The complaint department is open now, Sonny!"
-
Come on, Philo... I know you know this one. ;)
-
I don't Matt ....
Any help ?
Philo .
-
Okay, this said to another non-Eastwood character, right after this line:
"Uhhhh, that's not polite."
-
Can i guess ?? Space Cowboys?? probably wrong..but its a shot..lol ;D
-
Sorry Scoot, but there can't be any guessing in this thread. I've entered it in a contest. If you think it might be in a film, look it up and come back with a definite answer.
For contest information, read this thread:
Congratulations! (http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=764;start=15#lastPost)
If a member is almost sure they know the movie and scene but doesn't own the film to look it up, then PM me off the board and ask if it's right. I don't want to put anything on the board that might give it away. But be careful, only one guess per member. (Man, the rules are tough, huh? ::) )
-
Do I need to give another hint? Is anyone working on figuring this out other than Christopher?
-
I'm kind of trying and I have an idea, but I havent seen the movie at all, so I wouldnt know if its in it or not. Actually, I have four ideas, three of which Im working on. ;)
-
I hate flukes so I never guess.
I will have another hint when everyone is ready .
Philo .
-
Having followed Matts instructions and PM'd him with my answer first I can state that the quote is from Any which way you can and is spoken by Jack Wilson in Philos local bar when he gets into a fight so that he can check out Philos style.
New one soon.
-
"I thought you were on your way back to Ireland?"
-
Having followed Matts instructions and PM'd him with my answer first I can state that the quote is from Any which way you can and is spoken by Jack Wilson in Philos local bar when he gets into a fight so that he can check out Philos style.
This is the correct scene in the right movie. Small glitch on the answer, but definitely acceptable. This scene unfolds with a bar patron yelling out: "Hey get someone who can sing around here!" after Laura Lee's performance.
Jack Wilson said to the man: "Uhhhh that wasn't polite."
The same bar patron replied: "The complaint department is open now, Sonny."
And that's the answer to the trivia question,
As Red said, a big fight then occurs where Wilson helps Philo take on the raucous crowd and studies his fighting style.
Red, contact me off the board with your shipping information and your choice of poster. Congratulations!
-
Well that shows which one of the which way films I watch the most. I must watch which way you can a bit more !!!
Matt ,
You said Laura Lee wasn't she in Josey Wales !!!
Philo .
-
(http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/instantshock.gif) Well damn, glad I wasn't trying to win any contests. :-[
Lynn Halsey-Taylor. My bad. :-[
-
No problem , I couldn't get the quote so as far as I was concerned she could have been there !!!!
Philo .
-
;D Neither one of them could sing... could've been in either movie!
Since we turned the page, I'll repost the next quote that Red put up:
"I thought you were on your way back to Ireland?"
-
Need a clue?
-
Pete Verrill (Jeff Fahey) in White Hunter, Black Heart?
-
Sorry Daisy, way off. Matt may have given a clue without realising it.......
-
Paint Your Wagon?
-
Care to elaborate a teeny bit KC? You are correct of course :)
-
To elaborate too much would compel me to get out the DVD and actually watch part of the damb thing! ::)
But does it refer to those miners that Rumson and Pardner encounter ... with whom they embark on the scheme of "mining" subterranean No Name City?
-
Oh, does that line come right near the end of the movie, after the town has collapsed? Perhaps when Rumson is in his horse n' buggy heading out of town, and finds out that those people who had been staying with them is going to be staying around there to rebuild the city?
It's been a while since I've seen it, but I figured I'd see if I had some idea to this.
(I don't have the DVD, so I can't check)
-
If Red's happy with that, KC, you can go on. I was just trying to see if I could "elaborate" a little. ;)
-
KCs answer is good enough for me. I was just trying to get someone to admit to watching Paint your Wagon ;D A film I am happy to own up to liking.
The quote is actually from the first time Ben Rumson takes Pardner into town on horseback with his leg still splinted and runs across some old cronies while crossing the river.
-
You and me again Red ....
Being British (sort of) fav Tv shows and now Paint your wagon
Where will it end ?? ???
Philo .
-
"Hand me down that can o'beans!"
I kinda like Paint... too, fellas! Maybe it does have something to do with being British. ;)
The movie was botched but the musical numbers are fine, as are the performances. Not the disaster people make out.
My second Eastwood movie, after Eagles - a wet afternoon in Bournemouth when I was about five... :D
-
Where were all you people during Eastwood Film Survivor? I wanted Paint Your Wagon to last a little longer.
-
Well I would never vote it off .
Daisy ,
you may well have seen your first two Eastwood movies in 70mm . Those coast venues together with big city theatres got it in that great format with six track magnetic stereo sound .
Having never seen them that way (only in humble 35mm) let me bow to you . 8)
Philo .
-
You and me again Red ....
Being British (sort of) fav Tv shows and now Paint your wagon
Where will it end ?? ???
Philo .
If I remember correctly from last year you are a West Ham supporter? That's where it ends ;D
You're up KC.
-
"You think you're pretty smart, now, don't you?"
-
It's the FBI agent (or something like that) who says it to Sally Gerber in Perfect world. He is cornering her in the "silver whalelike thing" and starting "conversation" with that sentence.
Give me a day to pick up a quote, ok?
-
Red ,
With the season we have had everything has ended , If you are a Boro supporter you could have done a little more than you did especially on the last day .
Philo .
-
Philo. West Ham will be back, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them come straight back up. The Boro just seemed to go on their summer holidays a month early. Don't forget we lost at the Boleyn Ground.......
-
Yes , you are quite right .
This has been a horrible year for me so far, and the West ham news just about sealed this awful time with still over seven months of the year to go.
This has nothing to do with non Eastwood quotes, so will finish .
Philo .
-
I'm going to take you out for a beer
-
Hawk to Sara in Space Cowboys!
-
That was fast!! Congratulations. And next time I'm up it will be more difficult ;)
-
New one (pardon the French):
"It's so damned good to see you here!"
-
Does Ray Charles count?
Any which way you can?
-Stranger-
-
Ray Charles counts, and you gots it, Stranger! ;)
-
Sneaky KC ;D
New one:
You drink it..
-Stranger-
-
That would be the Chief to the Carpetbagger in The Outlaw Josey Wales, in reference to the Snake Oil he is selling. 8)
How about:
"She's a fresh young whore in the territory..."
-
That's the "half-soldier" to Angel Eyes in GBU.
-
You are correct sir...
Your up. :)
-
Here's the next one:
Need a bigger target?
-
Is that Coogan's girl with him in the bath and aiming the soap .
Philo .
-
Yeah! I've always loved that scene. ;D
-
"it's a job"
Philo .
-
May need a little hint on this one, Philo.
-
I know that one, because it always reminds me of my so-called "career." ::)
Escape from Alcatraz. The guard telling Morris he's been assigned a job in the carpentry shop ...
GUARD: It's a paying job.
MORRIS: How much?
GUARD: Fifteen cents an hour.
MORRIS: Well, I always knew crime would pay.
GUARD: It's a job.
New one: "Our destinies are intertwined."
-
KC, that sounds like something Marlene from Honkytonk Man would say to Red.
-
That's right, Matt! Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
Got a new one? :D
-
NEXT:
I didn't mean to kill her, but she was driving me crazy!
-
That's from a favorite of yours, Matt ... ;)
-
Give us the answer, KC! It's been a few months since this thread has moved. :D
-
Bronco Billy ... John Arlington to Edgar Lipton ... he is talking about his allegedly late wife, Miss Lily. :o
I haven't got a new one just now. If you do, Matt, go ahead and post it! :)
-
Okay, sorry to hold up this thread so long. Here's another non-Eastwood quote:
Mustn't interrupt daddy.
(I was going to use this for the "New Dialogue Game", but didn't know how hard it would be to find a "mustn't" or an "interrupt".
-
(http://users.erols.com/kcoblenz/WHBHMrsMcG.JPG) (http://users.erols.com/kcoblenz/WHBHWilsonReaction.JPG)
That's right ... you're way too beautiful for that!
-
That's her! ;D
Care to finish it off and post the next?
-
The film is White Hunter, Black Heart, of course, and am I glad it is finally out on DVD! The speaker is Mrs. MacGregor ... guilty of looking inattentive during Wilson's little "story" about a woman he had known once upon a time in London ... ;)
I'll post a new one in a little while ... if I can think of a good one!
-
Say "The Leith police dismisseth us"!
-
Remember this game? Anyone want a hint on this one?
Hey, you can't ALL be eating turkey already!
You didn't ask for a hint ... I'll give you one anyway: It's a film recently released on Region 1 DVD. ;)
-
Hey.... is this from your 2nd fave Eastwood film of all time.. City Heat ?
For some reason I can hear Burt Reynolds saying it.
-
You gots it, Gant! I thought we were stuck here with the Leith police forever! :o
Can you think of where in the film and/or to whom he says it? :D
Even if you can't, can you give us a new one? There hasn't been any action in this thread in ages!
-
Here comes the action.....
So what dya say Colonel ? Lets the two of us get a taste of her then turn her ass in...ok
Sorry I can't be definite about the City Heat quote.. I think it was Reynolds character talking to one of the hoods.... One things for sure.. I ain't gonna go rent it and watch it all the way thru' to find out... ;D ;)
-
For the record, Murphy (Burt) says it to Tuck (Tab Thacker), the huge fellow who guards the door at the speakeasy where Ginny sings.
MURPHY: Hello, Tuck. How you feeling?
TUCK: Good.
MURPHY: Getting plenty of raw meat, are you?
TUCK: Huh?
MURPHY: That's good. Say "The Leith police dismisseth us."
TUCK: What?
MURPHY: It's a test they give radio announcers.
TUCK: What?
MURPHY: You don't want to be a radio announcer?
TUCK: Nah!
MURPHY: C'est la vie, Tuck!
TUCK: Yeah!
As for yours ... it's from The Gauntlet ... the Constable (Bill McKinney) to Shockley, as they cruise in the purloined constable's car with Mally (Sondra Locke) in the back seat.
New one:
If you need me, I'll be right over here.
-
This was a poor guess that I have erased.... :-[
-
Hint: It's spoken by a woman. ;)
-
yes! This is where Kevin Costner gives one to that women who works in the burger place, well he trys to slip her the dogs bone , i'm not sure, i don't think he does her properly cause the boy is looking at the action.
am i right.
-
No, I don't think they did get a chance to finish their act. Not by the look on Butch's face when he left there. :(
When answering, remember to mention the character's name and the movie name. This one is A Perfect World, and the character who says it to Butch is Eileen at "Dotty's Squat 'n' Gobble".
How about this one:
I don't like bowling.
-
That is said by Becky in Tightrope when she meets Wes for the first time at the tatoo parlor. He tells her they could get better acquainted........he could take her bowling. She says:
I don't like bowling.
Right?
-
That's right, M. Post another.
-
New one........
Sexual harassment. Hmmm... what are the guidelines?
-
Bridget in True Crime?
-
You are right, Dannyman. :D
-
Next...
That contraption... almost sent you to your grave.
-
Dats Col. Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) showing his gun to Manco in For a Few Dollars More ;D
Nexttttttt........
You may go in peace.
-
Shouldn't that be "You may go in peace," Matt? ;)
-
Is this from Josey Wales.....?
Ten Bears talking to Wales near the end of the film....
-
That's it! :)
-
Next
Well thats it... we might as well all go home
-
That's spoken by Capt. Arthur Buckholz in Firefox, at a moment when they fear the Firefox is lost.
By the way, according to the IMDb, the actor who played Buckholz, David Huffman, was a homicide victim in 1985. Does anyone know anything about this? ??? :(
-
According to this,
http://www.sdcrimestoppers.com/solved.htm
1985 The David Huffman Murder
David Huffman, an actor from the Old Globe Theater was murdered in Balboa Park after chasing a thief into a canyon. SOLVED
It doesn't go into much detail as to why he chased a thief into a canyon?! Doesn't really make sense but I couldn't find any other info on his death.
-
I found that one too, Dannyman. It kinda leaves you wanting to know more, doesn't it?
He was a nice looking fellow ... and he was only 39 when he died.
-
Yeah it sure does. There should be more details in that crime stroppers story. Poor guy :'(...hold on I have something in my eye
So what's the next quote KC :)
-
I can't think of one just now, Dannyman. If you want to post one, go ahead (just don't make my day ... ;) )
-
Ok, I will. Just give me a sec...
-
Heres the next one: :)
That room is taken!
-
Is that the innkeeper to Manco in For a Few Dollars More?
-
Yup it sure is Matt! ;D
(http://mercury.walagata.com/w/dannyman/PDVD_002.BMP)
-
(http://users.erols.com/kcoblenz/Lol.GIF) "He's tall, isn't he?" "You're just dirty!"
-
And rememeber how short he is after he steps down from he desk. :D
-
KC, do you remember reading in any of your books that the innkeeper and his "shortness" was an inside joke that Leone put in there toward someone that looked just like that actor? I don't know where I read that, or the fine details of it.
I know you're waiting for a new one here for me to post. Gimme a few minutes.
-
Matt, that was in the long radio interview Eastwood did for Cahiers du cinéma in 2000, parts of which were published in Cahiers (in French, natch) in September 2000. Here's what I posted about that passage back on the old Web Board in January, ought-one ...
Eastwood comments on the landlady scene ... in his Cahiers interview. According to what he heard on the set, it was Leone's idea of humor to hire the tallest, bustiest, most slatternly-looking woman he could find to play the landlady, then stand her on a box to make her look even taller next to the diminutive fellow he hired to play her husband, who was said to exactly resemble Arrigo Colombo, producer of A Fistful of Dollars, with whom he had quarreled. He staged this scene in such a way as to humiliate Colombo and get his vengeance on him ...
quote:
LANDLADY: (dreamily) He's tall, isn't he?
LANDLORD: You're just dirty!
-
Hehe, that's great! ;D Poor Mr. Colombo :P
-
Here we go:
Well, Lady Luck sure didn't shine on you boys this time.
-
Thanks, KC! That's what I remembered... I was afraid to give too many details that might be wrong. I probably read it right here on the board. :)
-
We finally got these trivia threads moving, don't let this one stall out on us now.
KC? mgk? D'Amb? Anyone?
-
I'm going to take a stab at it and say it's Stacy Bridges in High Plains Drifer???
-
Nope, sorry D'Amb, that's not it.
Anyone else want to try?
-
Isn't it an old favorite of yours, Matt ... Bronco Billy?
-
That would be right. Finish it off. :D
-
It's after the fire that destroyed the tent of the Wild West show. King, another carnival worker, comes over to Billy's little troupe the next morning ...
RUNNING WATER: Hiya, King. Get you some coffee?
KING: Thank you, Running Water ... Well, Lady Luck shore didn't smile on you boys this time.
LEFTY: You can say that again.
BRONCO BILLY: Morning, King.
KING: Billy ... What's your plans?
BRONCO BILLY: I don't know. I guess the sun's always shining over the next valley. Maybe that's where we'll find our pot of gold.
KING: (offering a roll of money). Well, uh ... we took up a little collection along the midway, and it ain't a lot, but it'll help you start, and help you get back on your feet.
(Billy takes the money.)
RUNNING WATER: That's nice.
BRONCO BILLY: Thanks ... Appreciate it if you'd, uh ... thank the rest of them for us too, willya? We're pulling out this morning.
KING: Sure thing.
If I can think of a new good one by tomorrow morning, I'll post it. If I can't ... anyone is welcome to take my turn! ;)
-
"My Pa did the embrodiery , but he told me not tell anyone"
-
That's Jamie, played by Sam Bottoms in The Outlaw Josey Wales, talking about his shirt, which was soaked in his blood. :(
Here's the next:
Now do I look like the kind of guy who'd do something like that?
-
Yes, you do, Matt! :o
-
What, exactly, are you trying to say, KC? ;D
-
BLOCK: (showing tattoo design: "Lookin' for love") Do you recognize this?
TATTOO GUY: Why should I?
BLOCK: You drew it.
TATTOO GUY: Well, so what?
BLOCK: Well, tell me about it.
TATTOO GUY: Uh, Jamie Cory. She come in here one day sayin' this hot tub guy beat her up. She wanted a tattoo. So, I did it.
BLOCK: Yeah, well the hot tub guy says she came down here and ... YOU beat her up.
TATTOO GUY: Now, do I look like the kind of guy who'd do something like that?
BLOCK: Yeah. Ever hear of a girl named Melanie Silber?
TATTOO GUY: Yeah. I'd like to beat her up, too. You know, everybody's looking to get beat up.
-
Oops, I forgot the name of the movie! Tightrope, of course! ;D
-
Right on! Man, you got that quick... I thought it might be a hard one.
Your turn! :)
-
What's a hard one, Matt? :D :o ;)
-
(http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/lol.gif) And to think that I actually paused as I was typing that post to make it sound better than how I had originally written it: "And I thought I had a hard one for you." :o
Not that I don't, of course. ;)
-
Would you like a free one? ;)
-
Im gonna pretend I didn't read your last few posts. ;)
-
Well, shucks, Dannyman, you can take my last one as my latest entry in this trivia game. It is, in fact, an exact quote from an non-Eastwood character. I think most of our members ... er, so to speak ... know it, however ...
Would you like a free one?
-
;D Looks like your mind's still in the gutter, KC.
And if you were asking me that question.... my answer would have been: Well, I would... but unless you love me, it wouldn't be any good. ;)
-
Well, I would... but unless you love me, it wouldn't be any good. ;)
This is becoming too.............sexually focused
This is Non-Eastwood quotes Matt ;) and You can't on account of your wife ;)
KC that is of course Unforgiven when the prostitute asked Clint if he wanted a free one.
-
That is, of course, correct, Dannyman! Have you got another one? Non-Eastwood quote, that is?
-
This is becoming too.............sexually focused
Cool. 8)
Dannyman, I was quoting Bronco Billy McCoy. He and I can. :D ;)
-
Cool. 8)
Dannyman, I was quoting Bronco Billy McCoy. He and I can. :D ;)
Oh yeah! I got it confused with Unforgiven. That's when him and Sondra want to...........well anwyays. Give me a sec to think of another. Stay Tuned. :)
-
Ok here's the next one, really easy ;D:
You ain't digging.
-
Doesn't anyone want to answer this and get the game moving again? ??? C'mon, I'm sure we all know it! :D
-
iIm' guessing Is it The Good the Bad and the Ugly ?
Since they need to get to the other side of the river, Tuco and Blondie blow up the bridge, telling each other their half of the gold's location. When the two armies move on, the two men cross over and make their way to the cemetery. While Tuco runs on ahead, Blondie offers his cigarillo to a dying soldier, who very shortly dies. Blondie removes his trench coat and covers the dead man, taking his poncho as a replacement. Meanwhile Tuco has found the grave and is digging away; Blondie tosses him a spade to help him; and Angel Eyes appears and tells Blondie to dig too. Blondie refuses, since the gold is not in that grave after all: he writes the name of the real grave on a stone for which there is a three-way shootout. Blondie shoots Angel Eyes, having unloaded Tuco's gun the previous night, and makes Tuco dig up the gold, which he then shares 50-50. But he leaves Tuco standing on a shaky grave marker with his head in a noose and rides away, before turning back and shooting the rope from his neck one last time. Blondie rides into the sunset while Tuco shouts abuse at him...
my quote is ...
that's mighty white of you .
I know Clint said it but someone else did too !
-
Gregory Walcott as Pope trying and failing to be funny with Clint's character in The Eiger Sanction.... :)
New one....
I can actually hear your little brain tick, tick, ticking away
This is spoken to Clints character.
-
C'mon... it aint that hard. I'll give you a clue.
It's from one of Clints more recent movies and it's spoken by his superior. (job wise.. that is)
-
James Woods as Alan Mann to Steve Everett (Clint) in True Crime, right, Gant? I'd forgotten about this one!
-
You got it....... ;D
-
New one:
I wish we could've stayed.
-
I've forgotten this one myself! :o
-
Try this one:
"Quit fu*king Bob's wife, he doesn't like it"
-
Adam S. started a new thread on "Non-Eastwood Quotes" so I merged it with this one.
However, we need to answer KC's quote before we move on.
New one: I wish we could've stayed.
-
Try this one:
"Quit fu*king Bob's wife, he doesn't like it"
Well I know Adam S.'s's's's's's one; James Woods to Clint's character in True Crime. But KC's.... hmmmm....
New one: I wish we could've stayed.
-
This has been available for awhile now. I don't happen to know the answer to this one. Does anybody want to pick this thread up and take a shot at this good quote that KC has posted?
-
I remembered what it's from. I'm surprised no one's got it yet. :o
There's another bit to the speech that would give it away. Does anyone want me to post it?
-
A stab in the dark... Is it from Josey Wales and is it spoken by Sam Bottoms..?
-
Nope, it's spoken by a politician in a modern day film.
-
Isn't it from "Absolute Power"?
-
No, Dannyman. It is spoken in connection with a sporting event. I hope that's enough of a clue, this has been sitting around here forever! :o
-
Dirty Harry Harry movie where the mayor is kidnapped........let me rememember the title.
-
The Enforcer when the mayor is leaving the ball park?
-
You gots it, kid! You're up! Make it a good one! 8)
-
Ok, here's the next one....
I'm not in a hurry, at least for the moment.
-
Need a Hint?
It's a western
-
It's a Sergio Leone western......
What more do you want ;)
-
I think Dannyman's going to have a board record. This one is almost a year old!
-
Haha, maybe I should just answer it.
-
Go for it, Dannyman. And then, you can post another.
And for stumping the board for nearly a year, you deserve a MAJOR AWARD:
Good work, Danny! O0
-
Go for it, Dannyman. And then, you can post another.
And for stumping the board for nearly a year, you deserve a MAJOR AWARD:
Good work, Danny! O0
Haha. "Fra-gi-le, it must be french!"
The quote is from Don Miguel Rojo in A Fistful of Dollars.
-
This one should be easy.
"Who are you?!"
-
I can do this one! (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/lol.gif)
Do we have any new fans on the board that would like to jump in here for this one?
-
Especially considering our last *cough*Movie Night*cough*
-
Matt, I want one of those .......... things! (http://users.erols.com/kcoblenz/Lol.GIF)
-
Haha well the new one is from High Plains Drifter.
-
Where's Dannyman? Well, we all know you're right Chessie. How about you keep the thread moving along and post another for us?
-
Of course! High Plains Drifter is correct. :)
Don't stump us with your next one Chessie.
-
Thanks guys. Sorry I've been a tad busy the last few days. Give me a few more moments to find a quote. O0
-
Sorry it's taken so long!!! Ridiculously busy. ::)
Hip Hip Hooray... Hip Hip Hooray... Hip Hip... Hoo...ray...
;D
-
"Three cheers for Bronco Billy! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hoo-"
That's Doctor Canterbury in Bronco Billy, who isn't gathering up much enthusiasm from the sanitorium patients.
-
Of course Matt gets it! Over to you. ;) :D
-
This might be way too easy, but I don't feel like looking for one, so.....
You're as young as you feel!
-
Is that Heartbreak Ridge? The same lady who said, 'panther piss'? If it is, I'm thinking of the scene where Gunny first arrives at the bar.
-
Nope, that's not it.
-
You're as young as you feel!
This is just a wild guess,Sullivan(James Garner)to Frank(Clint Eastwood) in Space Cowboys.
-
Lightfoot says it to Thunderbolt to try and convince thunderbolt not to leave near the beggining of the movie.
-
Ok you can take this off if I was wrong but we might as well start a new one.
What's confusing you this week?
-
Lightfoot says it to Thunderbolt to try and convince thunderbolt not to leave near the beggining of the movie.
You got it, Inferno.
-
And Inferno's is from Million Dollar Baby ... Father Horvak to Frankie. ;)
-
Yep thats right! Good memory :D
-
KC, you're up... (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/boardwink.gif)
-
Ooooooooop.
I'm done with him. I cannot work with him.
Easy one. ;)
-
True Crime, when Bob is telling Alan he can't work with Ev anymore. Good scene. :D
-
I figured that would be easy, but I would have thought someone from the Movie Night would get it. Do you recall Ev's response, Chessie? ;)
-
Something about giving him notice?
-
Funnier than that!
-
Ah yes... Ev says for Bob to hit him in the face...
Like Denis Leary could punch Clint? Pish.
-
But that's not the funny part!
This line always got one of the biggest laughs, every time I saw the film in the theater ...
EV: Bob, why don't you hit me in the f***ing face, willya? I'll fall down, I'll bleed, I'll do all that. I deserve it! Then you go home and you hit your wife, 'cause she likes it.
ALAN MANN: Ohhhh! [Laughs.] Nice one, babe!
Anyway, we need a new one here, Chessie! 8)
-
Hey I know it's my duty to post a new one, but I'm so busy I just have zip time to, so if someone wants to do one go for it. ;)
-
O.K. let's see if this takes a little longer than my Eastwood quote:
Me and you are friends
-
Anyone?
-
That is Butch talking to Phillip while on the run in ....
A perfect world.
Philo .
-
Too good Philo,you're up.
-
Next one :
Do you mind lady! you make me nervous
Philo .
-
Anybody ???
Philo .
-
A hint perhaps :-[
-
The person saying this is trying to learn how to use an item.
Philo .
-
Wild guess...Heartbreak Ridge ?
-
Sorry Gant,
Not the one.
Philo .
-
Another clue ? :-\
Philo .
-
Time to move this along a little.
This is from a recent Eastwood film made in the last five years.
Philo .
-
*thinking hard* ???
-
Space Cowboys :)
Tank Sullivan to a woman -I assume she works for the NASA
He's trying to ... uh I don't know exactly what he's trying to do, but well he's trying to do something and this woman arrives and disturbs him. She wants to see what he's doing.
Do you mind, lady ? You make me nervous.
She answers
Get used to it. You gonna have a lot more people watching you on television.
And Tank says
Thank you. Very comforting.
-
Very well done AB, O0
You are next.
Philo .
-
Cool. Thanks, Philo :)
Next one
He's the guy in the dog suit
-
Clue please AB
-
I think this one is from Clint's more underappreaciated films. ;)
-
Yes, indeed.
Tell me if you need another clue.
-
midnight inthe garden of good and evil
no maybe thats the guy who walks a non-existent dog
-
Sorry vik, wrong movie.
Before Midnight.
-
Pink Cadillac but I need to check the scene and I have to go to work. :'(
-
Sorry, Lin.
Wrong movie.
Before Pink Cadillac, but not long before ;)
-
Do you need another clue? :)
-
I think I know it without another clue ... ;)
-
Oh, I'm sure of that 8)
But maybe Lin or vik -or other members who'd like to give it a shot, need one. Just ask guys :)
-
Alright.
Nobody asked ;D, so to move this on ... here's a clue -should be very helpful ;):
Eastwood's character is in the police force.
-
Eastwood's character is in the police force.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Thank you for the brilliant clue AB! I still don't know. Why not go for it KC?
-
Thank you for the brilliant clue AB! I still don't know
;D ;D
Yeah, I must admit it probably didn't help. I mean Eastwood playing a police officer!! NO WAY ?!! :D
But yet it's easy.
Alright.
As KC said
I think this one is from Clint's more underappreaciated films. ;)
Eastwood plays a lieutenant. THAT should really help you ;)
-
Underappreciated movie .... lieutenant .... ANYONE ?! :D
-
Burt Reynolds in City Heat?
I have no idea what scene though,so who ever can come up with it,it's all yours.
-
Yup, that's the movie! O0
Well done, tgy.
Anyone here knows the exact scene?
-
short legs, long tongue, pants a lot..
;)
That's where Clint and Burt deliver the case containing the ledger books at the garage in CITY HEAT.
Do I have to wait for someone to say it's ok to post another?
-
You got it, mary mary!
Your turn :)
-
Thank you Americanbeauty.
Here's a new one.
DO I HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE?
-
I think it may be time for a hint. :-[
-
Yeah. I'm afraid we need one ???
Just a wild guess here, but I'd say a Harry movie. Or one where he plays a cop. Eastwood's character is forcing somebody to do something ???
-
Is it at the end of Where Eagles Dare when Colonel Turner has been exposed as a double agent and Major Smith is explaining how it will go down once they reach England and Schaffer is in the wings just listening?
-
:-[ Sorry friends I'd forgot all about this
D'Ambrosia is absolutely right! O0
Well done.
-
Next one:
"You from the insurance company pal?"
-
"You from the insurance company pal?"
Is that from The Enforcer when Harry enters the brothel?
-
Very close tgy. It's Harry alright but you've got the wrong movie
Try again. Go Fish (hint)
However, that exchange you are referring to is one of my personal favorites from the series...
Callahan: You Pichinski?
Pinchinski: Your trespassing this is private property.
Callahan: You a lawyer?
Pinchinski: Yes, seeing you asked, yes I am. Now, who ever you are…
Callahan: I’m looking for a tall brunette named Wanda.
Pinchinski: I want to tell you something Punk! This is a protected operation. Now, you can end up with you balls in spaghetti sauce.
Callahan: You trying to tell me you got a lot of clout with the Syndicate Huh?
Pinchinski: Enough to blow you away with one phone call. Now get the hell out of here!
Callahan: I’ll tell you what you are to me little man Your just a maggot who sells dirty pictures.
The Goon coming through to door with bat in hand: Why you mother…
And if you watch real close with your DVD you can see how close the Goon gets in real life to taking the Girls head off…Wonder how much that actress was paid for that scene?
-
What about Sudden Impact, when Harry goes to the fish shop to question Mrs.Kruger, one of the two men asks:
"You from the insurance company pal?"
-
Bingo! You got it tgy...
Another one of my personal favorites...
Callahan: Mrs. Kruger. May I have a word with you..
Goon 1: You from the insurance company pal?
Callahan: Nope.
Goon 1: If you don’t want to by some of these fish why don’t you get your ass out of here?
Callahan: Mrs. Kruger my names Callahan.
Goon 2: You got s@#t in your ears buddy?
Callahan: I’d like to ask you a few questions about your husband.
Mrs. Kruger: That lousy son of a b*$@h. He leaves me nothing. I’m up to my ass in bills. He let the insurance run out. Then he gets killed looking at dirty pictures when he ain’t even touched me in months that bastard.
Goon 1: Say, can’t you see our sister’s in morning? Why don’t you get the hell out of here?
Callahan: Why don’t you boys go suck some fish heads, huh?
Major ass kicking ensues…
Mrs. Kruger cocking rifle: Don’t even think about it…
Callahan: Well I’ll come back when you less bereaved.

Next one:
Right.Take it easy,kid.

This is ringing Unforgiven bells for me...
-
This is ringing Unforgiven bells for me...
Sorry Gant,not from Unforgiven. :)
-
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, maybe? ???
-
Welcome back AB,
sorry,it's not from Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.
-
Is this The Outlaw Josey Wales.
-
Is this The Outlaw Josey Wales.
No Sorry,Mary Mary it's not from Josey Wales.
Time for a hint?
It's not from a western or a Dirty Harry Film.
-
crapgame in Kelly's Heroes?
-
crapgame in Kelly's Heroes?
Well done,Mary Mary. O0
You're up.
-
Thanks TGY
New One:
You're about as welcome as a turd in a Swimming Pool
-
That is one of Big Ed's boys letting Harry and Kate know just how welcome they are.
From The Enforcer (1976)
Philo .
-
Hello Philo, you are very right! O0
-
Thanks Mary ,
Next one ...
"Whats the matter with you"?
Philo .
-
Philo, could that line be ...
"What the hell's the matter with you?"
???
-
I don't think so KC.
What film were you thinking of ?
Philo .
-
I don't think so KC.
What film were you thinking of ?
Philo .
True Crime ... spoken by Ev's wife when Ev comes back from playing "Speed Zoo" with the kid. ;)
-
Hi KC,
I am sure you are correct.
However mine is not from True crime.
Philo .
-
OK, well, that was the one I "heard" in my had when I read the words ... I'll ponder another. :)
-
Isn't that George Kennedy in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.
-
No Mary,
Not Red.
Philo .
-
I keep hearing George Kennedy :o
I've still not pulled the DVD to check, but is it him in The Eiger Sanction?
-
No Mary,
Not Ben.
Philo .
-
I am thinking that it is Ma(Ruth Gordon) in Any Which Way You Can.
-
Hi Richard,
She may have said that but this is not Ma.
Philo .
-
I'm hearing Sondro locke from Every Which Way But Loose...
-
I'm hearing Sondro locke from Every Which Way But Loose...
Lucky you Gant. ??? ??? ??? ???
However it is not Miss Halsey Taylor.
Philo .
-
Is this High Plains Drifter? The scene in which Clint is in the barbershop and the bad guys walk in, making the barber nervous. One of the baddies says, "what's the matter with you?"
-
Well done Lilly.
That is it.
Philo .
-
Cool. Thanks, Philo. 8)
Back with another later...
-
Here ya go:
How far?
-
Is this Beryl in Tightrope ?
-
She might say it too, but it's not the one I'm thinking of, Gant. :)
-
If no-one gets this in the next two days, I'll leave the answer with one of the mods. :)
-
Antoinette Lilly in Bronco Billy ... I was thinking, maybe in this scene when Billy accepts to give her a ride ???
-
I haven't seen that movie, AB. It ain't the one that I was thinking of. :)
-
I know this has been a while......
Is it Phillip to Butch in A Perfect World when they first get in the car?
-
How far?
Is it the constable in The Gauntlet?
-
Hey, tgy and Doug. I dunno if it could be either of those, but neither is the one I am thinking of!
It has been a while though; let me know if you want a clue.
-
If I may... I would like hint...
-
Sure thing, CL.
It is said by someone boarding a form of public transport. :)
-
Ohhh. I know this one...
-
Me too! ;D
Go ahead, D'Amb ...
-
(http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/9070/ndvd316as4.png)
It's the Duke of Cool...The Earl of Funk...
The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla! Stich Jones!!! O0
-
;D ;D ;D
-
Yes! :D Well done, D'Amb. And you have the screen cap right there; as Stitch hands the driver his money, he asks, "how far?"
Over to you, D'Amb. :)
-
Well shoot, I'm up...
Maybe they will forget about you..."
-
There's an unforgettable answer to that one! 8)
-
Come on... 8) Nobody knows this one?
Hint: It's from a Western...
-
Well, I know it, but we have to hear from some of the other folks! ;)
-
Well shoot, I'm up...
Maybe they will forget about you..."
Does Lone Watie say it to the outlaw Josey Wales?
-
I think that quote is from Unforgiven.
-
No, Doug has it right ... I'll speak for D'Amb. ;)
-
Next one:
I'll just take that on faith.
-
I have not looked at this thread for some time.
That is actually an Eastwood quote from Ben to Gus in The Gauntlet.
However as this is posted in non Eastwood quotes I am willing to accept that Doug has another answer.
Philo .
-
I have not looked at this thread for some time.
That is actually an Eastwood quote from Ben to Gus in The Gauntlet.
However as this is posted in non Eastwood quotes I am willing to accept that Doug has another answer.
Philo .
Yeah, you're right, I got mixed up. I'll post another.
-
A non-Eastwood quote:
Are you for real?
-
Funny, I saw Doug's quote when he posted it and thought that The Gauntlet was the answer ... and completely forgot that this was the non-Eastwood quotes thread.
I know the new one too, but I'll let someone else have first dibs. :)
-
Well I think that it is the same people but different movie.
Miss Lilly to Bronco Billy ?
Philo .
-
You're right. It's followed by one of my favorite quotes from Clint in the movie: "I am who I want to be."
-
Ok .... next one.
"Maybe you should excuse yourself"
Philo .
-
A month has gone by .....
Anyone? :-\
Philo .
-
Once again, Philo's non-Eastwood quote is ...
"Maybe you should excuse yourself"
Philo .
-
Do you know it KC ?
Thanks for posting the quote again. I forgot. :D
Philo .
-
It's on the tip of my tongue ... ???
-
I wasn't testing you, I just know that you usually stand aside for others to pitch in and I thought you could perhaps solve this one to keep things moving.
We can start with clues for anyone who wants one. ???
Philo .
-
I'd like a clue, please! :)
-
Ok, here is the first and probably only clue needed .....
The line is said to Clint's character.
Philo .
-
Every Which Way But Loose ???
At the very beginning, when Philo enters the bar, and there's this guy eating peanuts -Big Al (?) I think it's Big Al who's saying this to Philo.
-
AB,
After all this time, this is so near and yet ....
Right film ..... wrong scene.
Philo .
-
It's kinda hard, since I don't have the movie with me :-\
I'm guessing it's that scene with the Black Widows, when they are with Philo at the diner. Just before they decide to take it outside. One of them says "Maybe you should excuse yourself!" to Philo ???
(http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/4665/ewwoopsuq0.th.jpg) (http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ewwoopsuq0.jpg)
-
Hi AB,
The masterpiece that is Every which way but loose should be with you everywhere. ;)
Right film ..... wrong scene.
Keep going.
Philo .
-
I'm guessing Lynn Halsey-Taylor, but I really can't remember the scene.
Help anyone?? :D
Feel free to post the exact scene if you got it O0
-
Could it be the scene where the Black Widows come into a diner full of truckers to pick a fight. Isn't that where the waitress suggests this to one trucker before he stands up turning to them and says, "Let's go, tuts." ???
whoops, nevermind, I see the clue up above that claims this was said directly to Philo.
-
Ok, next guess...
Was it the college student in one of the first scenes at the bar. Philo sits down to introduce himself and finds out she's doing a study on the cowboy mentality. She might have said this to him, before he ends up putting those false teeth in her soup. HA HA Love it!! ;D
Even if this guess is still wrong, it was still worth sharing that scene with y'all. ;)
-
Hi Tony,
I agree a great scene.
Sadly not the one with the quote.
Philo .
-
Ok Ok. I finally just had to watch the movie again for the umteen-millionth time just to figure this one out. Don't think I woulda got it otherwise.
Lynn Halsey-Taylor's new boyfriend (forgot his name already) says it, there toward the end of the movie, when Philo confronts Lynn outside the Zanzabar. I didn't note the exact dialog, but it's just before Lynn starts beating up Philo saying, "I hate you, I hate you."
If AB wouldn't have got the movie narrowed down, I might never have figured it out. O0
-
If AB wouldn't have got the movie narrowed down, I might never have figured it out. O0
You re-watched the movie, you did the hardest part ... all the credit goes to you ;)
Ok Ok. I finally just had to watch the movie again for the umteen-millionth time just to figure this one out. Don't think I woulda got it otherwise.
:D this thread could almost make you go crazy, couldn't it?
The masterpiece that is Every which way but loose should be with you everywhere. ;)
If I could, I'd take all of Eastwood's films with me everywhere I go :D
-
You re-watched the movie, you did the hardest part ... all the credit goes to you ;)
Well, I wouldn't consider it to be the hardest part, you don't have to twist my arm for me to watch an Eastwood movie again. 8)
:D this thread could almost make you go crazy, couldn't it?
Haven't had a lot of experience with this thread yet, but I can assume as much, especially on some of them where you know the line, and you can practically see it being said, but you just can't think of the right scene for some reason. Or especially, if it's a co-star like Bill McKinney who's been in so many of Clint's films. ??? :D
-
Well, I wouldn't consider it to be the hardest part, you don't have to twist my arm for me to watch an Eastwood movie again. 8)
Well, I kinda like this thread, so I wanted to get that one figured out, so we could continue on with the next one. :)
Maybe this one won't be too difficult, but then I wouldn't wanna make it too easy either. :D
Here's the line...
STAY AWAY FROM ME! I HATE YOU!
edited 5/17/07

Megan Wheeler in Pale Rider?
-
Megan Wheeler in Pale Rider?
Well, I hadn't actually thought of that scene Fhil, good guess, but no, that's not the one for this quote. ::)
-
STAY AWAY FROM ME! I HATE YOU!
edited 5/17/07
Is it too early yet for a clue?...
This movie is as old as I am if that counts as a clue. ;D ::)
-
Well the only movie besides Pale Rider I can think of at the moment would be Lynn Halsey-Taylor in Every Which Way But Loose.
-
Sorry Fhil, I know it can be even worse trying to think of a new answer when you have the wrong one stuck in your head.
Another possibly useless clue for most... ::) the right movie was just on cable last night, and I know that doesn't help much to identify which scene, however it is on again this coming Sunday night. O0
-
How embarassing. I messed up the line after-all, even after I made extra sure I had it perfect. :-[ The line is actually, stay instead of get, not that that makes a huge difference for you, but I'm usually very detail oriented, so here is the correct line...
STAY AWAY FROM ME! I HATE YOU!
-
I just wanted to confirm that Tony is indeed correct.
I am so glad that someone got it and thanks also goes to AB for sticking with the quote in the early days.
Philo .
-
Been two weeks now. How about another clue... :-X
It's a girl that yells this line at Clint's character. ^-^ And I think he deserved it too.
STAY AWAY FROM ME! I HATE YOU!
-
This is just a guess.... Is it sweet Amy from The Beguiled?
Philo .
-
This is just a guess.... Is it sweet Amy from The Beguled?
Philo .
Yup, that's the one!
It is from near the end of the movie, Mr. McBee is kind of on a rampage. He’s been drinking and now has a gun. Remember, they’ve just cut off his leg trying to save his life. Amy shows him her little pet turtle, trying to calm him down, but it’s too late. His temper gets the better of him and he throws her turtle across the room. As she cries out and runs to rescue the poor thing, he realizes what he’s done, but it’s too late now. She yells at him, “STAY AWAY FROM ME, I HATE YOU!”
I wish I could attach a screenshot of her face in that scene, sweet little Amy is really mad. :o
Of the lesser known Eastwood movies, The Beguiled is one of my favorites. O0
-
Next one .....
"I expected no less"
Philo .
-
Wow :o
I just noticed this goes back to June.
Anyone?
Philo .
-
Yeah, things have been a bit slow around here ...
Again, Philo's new stumper is:
Next one .....
"I expected no less"
Philo .
-
Thanks KC.
Philo .
-
This is ringing Josey Wales bells in my ear.....
-
Not Josey ... :(
Philo .
-
Could this be Captain McKay from The Enforcer, just after Harry finds out who his new partner is?
-
Kid,
You are kinda close, not that film, not that actor but in another way not a million miles away either .... ???
Am I being cryptic ...... Nooooo. ;)
Philo .
-
Could it be from Magnum Force?
-
Hey Philo,
Could it be Captain Donnelly talking to Harry in the scene from Sudden Impact, where they are dragging the three young punk's car out of the water?
-
Not Magnum force or Sudden Impact
Philo .
-
Space Cowboys
-
Not Space cowboys.
Philo .
-
Hey philo,
What about The Rookie?
When Pepe Serna introduces Charlie Sheen to Clint as his new partner.
-
Hi Kid,
Not that great chapter of Eastwood cinema. ;)
Philo .
-
Is it the reporter from The Dead Pool?
-
Hi Richard,
Slightly better movie but not Harry's 5th case.
Philo .
-
And once again, Philo's quote is:
"I expected no less"
-
Thanks KC,
This has been going on for a long time (with large breaks in attempts), so long that I want someone to get it. ???
Philo .
-
Does Smith say it to Schaffer in WED?
-
Is it The Gauntlet?
-
Hi Guys,
Not Eagles or Gauntlet.
I think I am correct that examples and not just film titles have to given.
Philo .
-
We certainly need at least the character who says the line and preferably the scene in which it is spoken.
Philo, could we have another little clue? Please? ???
-
Philo, could we have another little clue? Please? ???
This line is concerning money won and lost.
Philo .
-
Is it from The Eiger Sanction?
When Hemlock is being bribed by Dragon into taking on the Eiger Sanction?
-
Hi JSE,
"I hate being predictable" is possibly the Line from The Eiger sanction.
So it is not that.
Philo .
-
In seven days this will have been going a year. :o
At that time I will reveal the answer and hand over to another member.
Regards
Philo .
-
The line was from Beekman (Harry Guardino) just after the snake fight in Any which way you can.
The scene is after the loser of the fight agrees when he will pay up.
Over to someone new.
Philo .
-
Wow a year :o
Looks like you stumped everyone. :-\
I'll put my hand up, let's try this one.
"All three of them"
-
Clue #1
This person has a gun.
-
Clue #2
All the main Actors are present in the scene.
-
"All three of them"
Final clue
It is at the dénouement of the film. ;)
-
I got the film now! :D
-
It's from Where Eagles Dare. Col. Turner (Patrick Wymark) says it to Smith (Richard Burton) in the final scene, just before the revelation of who is the greatest traitor of them all.
TURNER: Berkley wrote these names?
SMITH: Yes, sir.
TURNER: Ted Berkley. I can't believe it.
SMITH: And Thomas. And Christiansen.
TURNER: All three of them? My God, it's incredible.
SMITH: Yes, quite. But not as incredible as the one name that's missing from that list, Colonel.
-
Yep that's it.KC. :)
Over to you. O0

OK, new one:
So, you want to play, huh?
-
Is that from Sudden Impact when Mick is trying to rape Jennifer and she is trying to get away?
-
Nope ... and it's been so long I have to think a bit where it IS from ...
Ha, I got it. Nope, not Sudden Impact. Anyone want a clue?
-
Is it from Pink Cadillac when Tommy walks up to the guys playing pool in the bar?
-
Nope, not Pink Cadillac, either.
It IS from one of the, shall we say, less cherished Eastwood films. ;)
-
Does Lynn Halsey-Taylor say it inEvery Which Way But Loose when she pulls out a gun in the meat storage room?
-
Nope ... and while Philo is still a member here, I would never call that one one of Clint's "less cherished" films! :o ;)
-
First hint: The line is not addressed to Clint's character, but he is present when it's spoken.
-
Is it Strom (Raul Julia) at the beginning of The Rookie when Nick (Clint) and his partner attempt to arrest him?
-
Is it Strom (Raul Julia) at the beginning of The Rookie when Nick (Clint) and his partner attempt to arrest him?
That sounds about right SK.
-
I haven't watched that one in so long, for all I know it could have been said there, too.
But it's not what I'm thinking of! ;)
-
Nope ... and while Philo is still a member here, I would never call that one one of Clint's "less cherished" films! :o ;)

Re: Your favorite decade of Eastwood movies
« Reply #53 on: October 22, 2008, 12:20:29 PM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Less memorable Eastwood films from the 1980s:
Any Which Way You Can (1980)
Firefox (1982)
Sudden Impact (1983)
City Heat (1984)
The Dead Pool (1988)
Pink Cadillac (1989)
So what you are saying is the other one was "less cherished". ;D ;)
-
Any Which Way You Can: Less memorable (to me) ... yes. Less cherished (by many Eastwood fans) ... no! ;)
The film in question here is perhaps less memorable AND less cherished by Eastwood fans. Still, it has its points. A friend of mine (male) cried when he saw it. And he's not even a Clint fan.
-
Once again, the quote is:
So, you want to play, huh?
-
OK, time for another hint:
This line is spoken by a man and addressed to a woman.
And as I said before ... Clint is a witness.
-
It's been awfully quiet in this Forum lately! :o
Does anyone want another hint here? ???
-
Can we have a clue please.
-
Both the man and the woman are soused. Clint's character, however, is extremely sober.
-
Long time waiting for this one ... here's another clue.
The actor playing the speaker has been in two Eastwood films.
-
Absolute Power?
When Luther is sitting behind the mirror watching the President (Gene Hackman) getting a little rough with Christy Sullivan (Melora Hardin) in the bedroom?
-
You got it! :D
-
Thanks, that last clue helped a lot. 8)
Next:
Mid 30's, wearing a black jacket
-
The Dead Pool?
Inspector Quan(Evan C. Kim) describing a suspect to Capt. Donnelly(Micheal Currie) and Insp. Callahan
-
Correct.
Although I don't think Capt. Donnelly is in the scene, but it is Inspector Quan who says it.
Too Good SC. 8)
-
The scene I saw he was SK, they were in his office at the time. Maybe it's said in another scene aswell?
It was pretty easy that one. The clue was in the quote itself. ;)
Ok this should be easy aswell.
Cause your chest, right
-
That one doesn't make much sense? ???
-
Ok... I've got KC confused already :o.....the clue is in the quote ;)
Since we've turned the page here's the quote again.
Cause your chest, right
-
OK, "cause" is a noun, "your" is a possessive pronoun, "chest" is a noun, "right" is an adjective or a noun, or it can be shorthand for "that is correct."
There is no verb in that sentence, no conjunction, no preposition, not much way to get any sense at all out of the unrelated elements.
If I were to "translate" using synonyms, I might get "Grounds your thorax, right" or "Origin your torso, right" ... I can't get any sense at all out of that. ???
-
The person should be saying "because of" but has shortened it to "cause"
-
Ah, 'cause, a conjunction. Or 'cause of, which functions as a preposition. There's still no verb, but I guess I can get some sense out of it now. ;)
-
Time for another clue.
It's from a contemporary film.
-
Oh I forgot about this for a while.
He says it to Clint. They are the only two in the scene.
"Chest" is the other clue. ;)
-
It's not in Gran Torino is it? Thao and Clint in the basement with the old Army chest or something?
-
Hi Fhil sorry its not GT.
"Chest" is a very BIG clue. It's one of those clues where you shouldn't think too hard what it is associated with. It's right in front of your face.
Think simple thoughts. :)
-
Thinking simple thoughts hasn't helped me SC. :-[
Could we have another clue please? :)
-
What's inside your chest?
-
What's inside your chest?
Your Heart?
Does Buddy say it to McCaleb in Blood Work?
I don't know the scene, but do I have it narrowed down to the right film?
-
Your Heart?
Does Buddy say it to McCaleb in Blood Work?
I don't know the scene, but do I have it narrowed down to the right film?
BINGO. O0
Don't worry about the scene, that's enough info for me.
Over to you SK.
-
Cheers,
We are supposed to name the actual scene, but if you're happy with that, the game shall continue. O0
Back with a new one shortly or if someone can name the actual scene from Blood Work before I post, they can go ahead with the next one. 8)
-
New one:
We'd sure appreciate it.
-
Oh, wait, now I remember the Blood Work scene ... McCaleb wants Buddy to drive him, he can't drive because of the heart transplant ... right? I'd look it up to be sure but I'm watching the baseball game just now ...
-
^ Yep that's right KC, Buddy is on the back of his boat and McCaleb is standing on the dock if I remember rightly.
-
Since we've turned the page, here is the new one:
We'd sure appreciate it.
-
Does the Mayor say it Clint in the hotel in High Plains Drifter?
-
Does the Mayor say it Clint in the hotel in High Plains Drifter?
Not sure, but it's not the one I'm looking for. :)
-
Does Hull say it to the Preacher at the dinner table in Pale Rider?
-
Sorry SC.
Keep trying. :)
-
Time for a hint.
It's not from a western. :)
-
Dirty Harry. The suicide jumper scene. The firefighter asks Harry to help out.
Firefighter- But now that youre here
Harry- You mean I go up?
Firefighter- We'd sure appreciate it
-
You're correct Jordan.
Well Done. 8)
Your turn to post a new one.
-
New One:
The three F's?
-
Wow Jordan, you're really good at this trivia stuff. And welcome to the Board, by the way! 8)
-
Could we please have a clue, Jordon?
-
OK. It is from a movie that was made in the 80's. Probably the worst one Clint ever made.
-
Is it from City Heat?
-
No, not City Heat. It was made a few years after that.
-
Pink Cadillac?
-
Pink Cadillac?
Yes.
-
Lou Ann says it to Tommy in the laneway next to the Casino.
He said something like "my job is to find you,...(can't remember the second f) and freight you back...."
To which she replies "The three F's"
-
Thanks, SC ... I'd been meaning to look it up.
Hmmm, I suppose the second F isn't the most obvious candidate? Guess I'd better look it up after all.
-
Got it!
TOMMY: My job is just to follow you, find you and ... Federal Express you back home.
LOU ANN: The three F's.
OK, now I'd better go look for a new one ...
-
OK, I finally found a new one:
"Don't walk so fast!"
-
Kate to Harry, in The Enforcer?
-
Nope! Maybe you should sit down and watch ALL Clint's films again, Aline ... ;)
-
:-[
-
Just kidding, Aline! :D
-
I know ;)
Phillip said it to Butch?
You can't accuse me of not trying :D
-
Not A Perfect World either! ;)
-
Does Major Smith say it to Schaffer as they are walking across the bridge towards the German camp in WED?
-
Nope, it's not in Where Eagles Dare!
-
What about Silvanito to Joe in A Fistful of Dollars?
He always seems to be lagging behind.
-
Antoinette Lily to Bronco Billy?
-
What about Silvanito to Joe in A Fistful of Dollars?
He always seems to be lagging behind.
Not that one either!
Antoinette Lily to Bronco Billy?
No, but you're close!
Again, we're looking for:
"Don't walk so fast!"
-
John Arlington to Antoinette Lily as he chases her up the stairs in a "City Hall"?
-
That's right. I put this one and the last "Eastwood quotes" (which Aline got) in as clues to "Eastwood Locations." ;)
You're up, SK!
-
Anyone with a quote can take my turn. :)
-
Ok I'll jump in with one SK
Should be easy.
"And ahh what a disguise"
-
Lou Ann to Tommy in Pink Cadillac?
-
Nope sorry Aline.
-
Time for a clue.
A man says it to a woman. ;)
Oh and there is a third person present in the conversation.
-
Ok another clue.
The woman's disguse is very sexy.
-
Thunderbolt & Lightfoot?
Red Leary to Lightfoot with Lightfoot dressed as a woman.
-
Ahhh no.
The woman is actually very beautiful.
-
A man says it to a woman. ;)
That's what threw me, I thought the wink meant it wasn't really a woman.
-
That's what threw me, I thought the wink meant it wasn't really a woman.
That's understandable. :)
-
Thunderbolt & Lightfoot?
Red Leary to Lightfoot with Lightfoot dressed as a woman.
I confess this went through my mind too ;D
Is it from Where Eagles Dare, Maj. Jonathan says to Heidi who is dressed as a waitress? ???
-
Is it from Where Eagles Dare, Maj. Jonathan says to Heidi who is dressed as a waitress? ???
OOOhhh yeeess it is. O0
Over to you Aline. :)
-
Thanks, Cat ;)
Next:
See if you can make the motor work
-
Is that Moriarty to Oddball in Kelly's Heroes?
-
It wasn't Moriarty, SK :)
-
How about Major Smith to Lt. Schaffer in Were Eagles Dare?
-
That's correct, D'Amb. And I thought posting a quote from the same previous movie would be tricky :P
-
Thanks Aline! :)
Next one:
“When you take the Devil into your mouth you’re doomed…”
-
A guy's speech (don't remember his name) before being hung in Hang'em High? ???
-
You got it Aline! :)
You are now looking, at the last time, at the mortal body of Francis Elroy Duffy, born to John and Edna Duffy, good god fearing folk, who raised me up to be a good man, and a good christian, and I was a good christian, a good husband to my beloved wife, a good father to my children, whom I leave behind hopefully today, and all you, will learn this here lesson I leave you with.
When you take the Devil into your mouth, you’re doomed! For he is lying there, and waiting for you, inside that bottle of whiskey, waiting for you, to take him into your mouth, waiting to get down into your GUTS. So he can do his devils work. Liquor is the most powerful evil thing in this here world. Destroyed good men like myself, and will destroy you too, and beer is not much better. Slower, cheaper…
So take these words of advice and remember, you heard them from a poor sinner, who had no more cause to lie, cause he’s going to meet his maker, and now he’s ready…. And that is all I got to say…
Your up....
-
Nice job transcripting the speech, D'Amb. I don't know why I always think that character seems and sounds pathetic while reciting it ???
Next:
Just part of my job
-
I have a "Just part of the job" in Absolute Power ... is that the one, Aline?
-
I have a "Just part of the job" in Absolute Power ... is that the one, Aline?
KC, the movie is really Absolute Power but from where I transcripted the quote is "Just part of my job". Maybe if you describe the scene, we can be sure if it is the one I'm thinking of.
-
I was thinking of the scene where a "telephone repairman" has just told Seth Frank (Ed Harris) that he's fixed the phone problems the police had been having. (Actually, he's bugged their phones.) He says, "Just part of the job," causing Seth to mutter that he hates people who say that ... "It IS your [expletive] job."
He definitely says "the" and that's also how the English subtitles had it. It's possible someone reprises the line later in the film with "my" instead of "the." But if so, I don't recall where.
-
That's the scene, KC. Sorry the little mistake in the quote :P
-
No problem! 8)
Give me a little while to think of a new one ...
-
New one:
We try to give quality for our money.
-
Could we have a hint please. :)
-
It's said by a woman. :)
-
Is it said by the woman in the brothel during The Enforcer when Harry says "For $75 I get to make it with a rubber dolly."
-
Ha, nice guess, but no! ;D
-
We try to give quality for our money.
In Pink Cadillac, Lou Ann said it to...someone? (http://planetsmilies.net/grinning-smiley-17116.gif)
-
Nope, not that one, either!
-
Hawk to the young kid who threw up during his birthday joy flight in Space Cowboys?
-
Ha, nope!
-
Does Jemima say to Hemlock in The Eiger Sanction?
-
No. Although it is a professional woman (and not a sex trade worker) who says it to Eastwood's character.
-
That woman who makes fake identities said to Luther in Absolute Power.
-
You got it, Aline!
Spoken by Valerie (Elaine Kagan) ... I thought for sure when I used her picture in "Guess Who," someone would make the connection with this thread.
(http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/4354/newmysterywoman.jpg) (http://www.filmdope.com/Gallery/ActorsK/41341-22889.gif)
Your turn, Aline!
-
Spoken by Valerie (Elaine Kagan) ... I thought for sure when I used her picture in "Guess Who," someone would make the connection with this thread.
Actually, I didn't make that connection, it was your latest clue "a professional woman (and not a sex trade worker)" that helped.
I'll think of another one. :)
-
Nice one Aline. O0
-
Next:
Kind of ironic, isn't it?
-
Nobody is going to try? It's not that difficult ???
-
Can you give us a hint, Aline?
-
Does Jennifer say it to Harry right at the end of Sudden Impact?
-
It's not from Sudden Impact, Cat. :)
It's said by a woman, in some of the recent movies.
-
Marcia Gay Harden in Space Cowboys?
-
Not that one either :)
-
Is this Sue to Walt in Gran Torino?
-
Yes, it is, KC O0
-
Next:
Can't think of any such.
-
In Pale Rider
Hull Sarah I want to apologize if anything
I've said or done is gonna stand between us.
Sarah Can't think of any such
-
Correct, Cat. Over to you!
EDIT: Script-O-Rama, eh? And SOME people complain when I want to use the IMDb to help me out in these games! ;)
-
There's only a couple of films that use that old western style of speech. Good ole script'o missed Hull saying "Sarah" at the start of the scene.
Back with one soon.
-
New one.
I'm so stiff.
-
Is this from Space Cowboys as they're all stretching ready to start running and one of them says it. Maybe Tank?
-
New one.
I'm so stiff.
SC has picked a quote by another Sarah ... or rather Sara. ;)
"I'm not accustomed to riding like that" ... "You'll feel better when you've spent a few hours on your mule."
-
Yup your up KC. :)
-
Yup your up KC. :)
Just in case you've forgotten. :)
-
How about ...
That's some getup you've got there.
-
Does Lou Ann say it Tommy in Pink Cadillac?
-
No ... though I certainly did when I first saw him in this scene! ;D
(http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3296/pcrawdude.jpg)
-
No ... though I certainly did when I first saw him in this scene! ;D
Yep, that's the one KC. ;D
Does the person say it to Clint's character?
-
Yes.
-
Does someone say to Walt in reference to his new tailored suit in Gran Torino?
-
I'm thinking Bronco Billy?
When Miss Lilly sees Billy in his cowboy outfit.
-
Does someone say to Walt in reference to his new tailored suit in Gran Torino?
No, I don't think anyone comments on Walt's suit (except the tailor, who says "You look very good.")
I'm thinking Bronco Billy?
When Miss Lilly sees Billy in his cowboy outfit.
No, though I can just hear her saying it ... her voice dripping with sarcasm. ::)
-
Does Lt. McElroy say it to Coogan, the first time they meet in Coogan's Bluff?
-
Nope, again.
Lots of "some getups" in Clint's films, too! ;)
-
(http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3296/pcrawdude.jpg)
;D That scene is great. My father loved that golden jacket and the ridiculous fancy white shoes he wears with that outfit :D
-
Does Jerry say it to Frank in Space Cowboys? I remember someone came in looking geeky with there pants riding too high or something like that.
-
Does Jerry say it to Frank in Space Cowboys? I remember someone came in looking geeky with there pants riding too high or something like that.
No, again!
-
And since we've turned the page ... the quote is:
That's some getup you've got there.
We've eliminated Pink Cadillac, Gran Torino, Bronco Billy, Coogan's Bluff and Space Cowboys.
And we know that someone says it to Clint's character.
-
Lilly to Frank in In The Line Of Fire when Frank had his tuxedo on?
-
No ... though he says something like that to her! ;)
-
Lightfoot to Thunderbolt when they first meet and Thunderbolt has his priest clothes and collar on?
-
Not that one either!
-
Pete to John Wilson in White Hunter, Black Heart, at the beginning with Wilson in his riding gear?
-
Yes, finally!
I've been kind of "harping" on White Hunter, Black Heart lately in the hope that someone would get it!
Your turn, Kid!
-
Thanks, it was the 15 questions link that made me think of it. It just took five days to sink in.
Back with a new one shortly.
-
Next:
I've got nobody but you
-
I know this one, doesn't anyone else? ???
-
Doesn't look like it KC.
Take it away. :)
-
I'm assuming the full line is "I've got nobody but you, Frankie." And he answers ... "Well, you've got me." A beat ... then he continues, "At least until we find you a good manager."
Million Dollar Baby, of course.
-
Correct KC. 8)
Your turn.
-
Drat, now I've got to think of an Eastwood quote AND a non-Eastwood quote! And a location ...
I'll work on it.
-
bump. ;)
-
Well, I've got one that's awfully similar to the outstanding one in the "Eastwood Quotes" thread ...
Do you believe that?
-
Does Francesca say it to Robert in Bridges?
-
Nope! Gee, I thought everyone had forgotten about this.
-
How about Inspector Quan to Harry in The Dead Pool?
-
Not them, either.
-
Gus Mally to Shockley in The Gauntlet
-
Nope!
-
McKay to Harry in The Enforcer?
-
Not him, either.
-
Eddie to Frank in Million Dollar Baby?
-
Still no.
-
Are we getting closer?
A hint perhaps, please. :)
-
No, you're not getting closer! :P
It's said in a Western. ;)
-
Does Sara say it to Hogan in Two Mules.?
-
Does Sara say it to Hogan in Two Mules.?
Nope!
I wouldn't have thought this one would be as hard to get as Aline's post of the same line in the "Eastwood Quotes" thread! :o
-
Since we've turned the page, we're looking for ...
Do you believe that?
... spoken in a Western. Besides five non-Westerns, we've eliminated Two Mules for Sister Sara.
-
Deliah to Munny in Unforgiven?
During the "We've both got scars" scene.
-
It might have been Strawberry Alice to Delilah when she talks about how Munny was "the nice one ... so true to his wife and all" ...
But it isn't.
-
Ned to Munny in Unforgiven?
Asking whether he believes the "Kid" killed five men.
-
Well, no, because the line is "Do you think that kid really killed five men?" And Munny replies, laconically, "No."
You don't have the dialogue of Unforgiven memorized yet? And it's "your" movie, too! ;D
-
You don't have the dialogue of Unforgiven memorized yet? And it's "your" movie, too! ;D
With MY memory. It's a wonder I find my way back here somedays. :D
-
Sarah to the preacher in Pale Rider?
The scene where they are alone?
-
Nope. But you're warm.
-
Megan to the Preacher over the grave of Megan's dog?
-
Nope. It's not in Pale Rider.
-
Does Rachel say it to Jed when they are having their picnic in Hang'em High?
-
Nope!
-
Does Jamie say it to Josey Wales?
-
Nope!
-
Does Esteban say it to Don Miguel when they are talking about the stranger in AFOD?
-
Nope!
Since we've turned the page again, we're looking for ...
Do you believe that?
... spoken in a Western. ;)
-
Sarah to The Stranger in High Plains Drifter?
-
Finally!
I was just going to post and ask if anyone wanted a clue.
Can you describe the scene and preferably quote a bit more of the dialogue, SK?
-
No sorry, I just took a stab in the dark, so if anyone can describe the scene and more dialogue, can take it.
-
It's the morning after Sarah and The Stranger have been in bed and Sarah is talking about Marshall Duncan laying in an umarked grave.
Sarah says, "The dead don't rest without a marker of some kind." "Do you believe that?"
-
Next:
You ever had any enemies?

Does the Kid say it to Ned in Unforgiven?

Nope. :)

Does Elma say it to Joe in Joe Kidd?

Nup.

Sarah says, "The dead don't rest without a marker of some kind." "Do you believe that?"
Sarah says, "They say the dead don't rest without a marker of some kind. Do you believe that?" And the Stranger replies, "What makes you think I care?"
-
As for the new one,
You ever had any enemies?
... would it be too much of a hint if you tell us whether someone says it to Clint's character, SK? ???
-
Yes, it is said to Clint's character. :)
-
Does the Father say it to Walt in Gran Torino?
-
Nope. :)
Since we've turned the page.
You ever had any enemies?

Hint: It's from a 1970's film. :)

Does Doc say it to Frank in Escape from Alcatraz?

Nope. :)

The Eiger Sacntion. Ben Bowman to Hemlock, after Hemlock tells him he considers him a friend.

-
No. :P
-
I've got a feeling it's a Sondra Locke character that says it.
-
Don't trust your feeling on this one. ;)
-
David Ackerman in The Rookie?
-
Nope.
-
Is it that old woman on the retirement bus in Sudden Impact?
Or does she just say, "Get that sucker"?
-
It's not her. I don't remember what she says.
It is a woman, however.

Is it Lou Ann in Pink Cadillac when she and Tommy are driving out of the compound towards the end of the film?
-
No. Gee, I don't know why I thought this one would be easy.

Is it Angela Russel in True Crime to Steve in the car and he replies, "We go fast!"?

Yes it is! You finally got it, SK! You're up.

Thanks KC.
Next:
Lunch! It's 9 O'Clock in the morning!

In The Eiger Sanction, said by George Kennedy's character to Hemlock?
-
Nope.
-
It is raining in the scene when this quote is said. :)
-
Does Red say to Lightfoot when Lightfoot is working on someones front yard?
-
SC has the movie, but it's not spoken by Red. It's Curly (Gary Busey), one of Lightfoot's jobmates. His brother-in-law has told the crew to take the lunch break now, since it's raining and they can't work.
-
That's right, I had a feeling I stuffed it up. :-[
-
Yep, SC had the scene but the wrong character.
KC got it. 8)

Next:
Public servant.

Nope.

Just a guess, mind you ... [it]Paint Your Wagon[/i]? ???
Yes.
-
Did you have to quote my formatting error? ;)
Is that good enough, or should I get out the DVD and hunt down the scene? I really haven't seen this one in ages so it might take some looking. I'd guess the speaker was Rotten Luck Willie?
-
Did you have to quote my formatting error? ;)
:P ;D
Sorry, couldn't resist.
All yours KC and yep it was Rotten Luck Willie to Ben. :)
From IMBd
Ben Rumson: Hi, Willy! How're things goin'?
'Rotten Luck'Willie: I ain't won a hand in two weeks.
Ben Rumson: (to Partner) They call him 'Rotten Luck' Willie. You couldn't beat him with five aces.
Pardner: Oh, I don't gamble.
Ben Rumson: Neither does he
-
OK, new one:
Copacetic.
-
Lilly in In the Line Of Fire?
-
Nope.
I thought this one might be hard. Here's a clue: It's spoken by a very minor character who is in only one scene. Clint's character is not in the scene.
-
Hint Please. :)
-
Things are not nearly as "copacetic" as the speaker assumes.
-
Is it spoken by one of the soldiers at the beginning of The Beguiled when they're looking for McBurney.
-
Nope. It is spoken by a man in uniform, however.
-
Is it in Firefox?
The murder in the bathroom in the train station or was it the airport? It's been a while.
-
No.
Remember, Clint's character is not in the scene.

Officer Pete to Officer Terrance after Butch's stolen car was spotted in town while he and "Buzz" are in Friendly's.

If it hadn't been for this thread, I never would have noticed what was actually said in that dialogue. Sorry I forgot to name the movie. I was in a hurry. :-[
Over to you, ElizabethR!
KC, thanks for the new name. :)
I'll post a new one soon.
-
Isn't the Queen Of England referred to as ElizabethR?
-
That must have been what I was thinking of ... the Queen of long-unsolved quote trivia questions! ;)
-
Lucky it isn't Independance Day! :D
-
Ouch! :o
-
Next:
All the way.
-
DiGeorgio to Mickey in the warehouse in The Enforcer?
-
No. Dirty Harry films are out of the running. The statement is made to Eastwood's character.
-
Is it Lou Ann to Tommy in Pink Cadillac when she asks for a gun?
-
It's part of the same conversation, but occurs a few lines later after Tommy asks how far Lou Ann wants him to go.
Go ahead SC, sorry I didn't notice your answer until today.

This is what I usually wear.
-
It's from a film made in the 90's. ;)
-
The Rookie ... spoken by everybody's favorite train wreck, Charlie Sheen?
-
That's no way to speak of someone who comes out with more corny one liners in one episode of his current "hit" TV series than in the film Dumb and Dumber.
But yeah that's it. ;)
-
OK, new one:
Yes, I did. And I do.
-
Arhh, I think I have it. Is it spoken by Elizabeth in Paint Your Wagon? When Ben finds out she's also in love with Pardner?
-
Yes, it is. And she was. ;)
-
Cool. :)
Next:
Just one more time, and I'll leave you alone.

One of the mobsters to Orville in Any Which Way You Can?
-
Nope.

Since we've turned the page, here's the latest quote again:
Just one more time, and I'll leave you alone.
-
It's from a film released after 1990.
-
Little Bill to English Bob in Unforgiven?
The scene in the jail house.
-
Nope, it's not from Unforgiven. :)
-
In The Line Of Fire?
The scene on the boat at the beginning with the counterfeiters?
-
Nope. :)
-
It's said to Clint's character. ;)
-
Strom to Nick in The Rookie?
-
Nope, it's said by a female.
-
Dr. Anne Caruthers to Frank in Space Cowboys?
-
Nope.
-
There is a lady doctor in the film, though ... right? ???
-
There could be.
-
Dr. Bonnie Fox to Terry in Blood Work?
-
You're half right. :)
-
Graciella Rivers to Terry at the marina when she's about to tell him he has her sister's heart?

Graciella Rivers to Terry at the marina when she's about to tell him he has her sister's heart?

I betcha Shirts knows this one. ;)
Oh, why did you have to remind me? You're right. I ought to know, but I can't place it for all that. :-[
My first reaction was that it sounds like something Tuco would say.

My first reaction was that it sounds like something Tuco would say.
It isn't said by Tuco. :)
-
Angel Eyes to Tuco in the prison camp?

Correct SC. 8)

Whatever you say, babe
-
Is that Pope to Hemlock in Hemlock's office?
-
That's a good guess but not the one I'm looking for. :)
-
The character who says it, is very laid back. ;)
-
Maggie to Frankie in the hospital in Million Dollar Baby?
-
Nope, an old film. :)
-
Sounds like a crapgame line from Kelly's Heroes?
-
Sounds like a crapgame line from Kelly's Heroes?
Getting real hot!!!
-
Is it Crapgame to Kelly when they first discuss the heist?
-
It sounds to me more like Oddball. And he's the "laid back" one, not Crapgame.
Though, it's in the IMDb quotes page as a Moriarty line:
Oddball: This engine's been modified by our mechanical genius here, Moriarty. Right?
Moriarty: Whatever you say, babe.
-
Oh geez, I didn't even bother checking imdb, like I always do. :-[
-
I don't usually check there, but I Googled the line plus Oddball. ;)
-
Funny, I thought Oddball said it but now I remember Moriarty saying it as Kelly inspects the tanks. ;D
-
Bump. :)
-
Bump again tonight! :o

Terry McCaleb to Dr. Fox while having that cord pulled out of his chest?

I just keep getting better and better with the stuff ups. :-[
-
Tank after running laps around the track in Space Cowboys?
-
Nope!
-
Seth to Luther in Absolute Power?
-
No.
The speaker is someone who has been in more than one Eastwood film. And he's addressing Clint's character.
-
Scrap to Frank in Million Dollar Baby?
-
Finally.
Do you remember the scene?
-
No, I can just hear Scrap saying it for some reason. Was it in the office? The same scene with the socks dialogue?
-
Got another guess? It's just before a climactic scene.
-
Bump. :)
-
I'm still not sure what scene Scrap says it in. Anyone who knows can take it. :)
-
I'm still not sure what scene Scrap says it in. Anyone who knows can take it. :)
Well, you got close enough. It's just before Frankie and Maggie go to Las Vegas for the title match. Frankie asks Scrap if he wants to come along:
FRANKIE: Wanna come to Vegas with us?
SCRAP: Watch you suffer over the nickel slots? My heart can't take that kind of pounding.
FRANKIE: Well, she's got a title shot. The Blue Bear. Million dollars, split right down the center.
SCRAP: That's good, Frankie. That's real good.
FRANKIE: Well, I could use a good second. Can't find one, I thought I'd ask you.
SCRAP: Now, why the hell would I wanna do that?
FRANKIE: Well, because you're a half-blind old fool who never got there himself. I thought you might like to feel what it's like to be in a ring on a title match. Excuse me for feeling sorry for you.
SCRAP: No, you pick up somebody there in Vegas.
Over to you, SK! 8)

Thanks. 8)
NEXT:
We didn't think he was serious.
-
It's from a 1990's film. :)
-
Should I type the name of the movie?
-
Should I type the name of the movie?
That's the idea! :)
-
Should I type the name of the movie?
Have you got it, Lil?
-
Lil's gone MIA. :(
Does anyone else know what 1990's film this quote is from?
-
" ... till you found that fingerprint"?
-
It's about time we tried reviving some of these old trivia threads! :)
"We didn't think he was serious" (continued by "till you found that fingerprint") is spoken by David Coppinger, the CIA agent, in In the Line of Fire, when he encounters Frank and Al in Leary's house in Phoenix.
Next:
"It's for the kids!"
-
Is it Dr. Canterbury in Bronco Billy?
-
Nope. Newer. :)
-
Is it in the movie A Perfect World?
-
Nope. But it is from a movie with a couple of prominent kids in the cast.
-
Is it Wes Block in Tightrope?
Well, that was dumb!! :knuppel2: :knuppel2: Of course it isn't Wes Block! It's a NON-Eastwood quote.
Back to the drawing board. :-[
-
One of the kids is playing Clint's character's kid. The other one ... isn't. ;)
-
Is it in one of the following?
True Crime
Unforgiven
Tightrope
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Or, have I forgotten one?
-
Hmmm, and it takes a woman to do it. Bless their hearts.
SKIP this one until we answer the one above. I got lost there for a minute. :-[ ::). I'll bump it after we figure out who's talking about the kids in KC's post.
(Just a reminder....no giggling behind the scenes. :knuppel2: :knuppel2: I'll figure all of this out one of these days.)
-
Is it in one of the following?
True Crime
Unforgiven
Tightrope
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Or, have I forgotten one?
It is.
Which one has two prominent kids, one of whom is not Clint's character's kid? :)
-
By process of elimination, I don't think it could be Unforgiven because the two prominent kids are both Munny's and no other kids come around. In The Outlaw Josey Wales the only kid is Josey's but he is killed early in the movie. As for Tightrope there are two prominent kids but both are Wes Block's and I don't remember another kid in that movie.
That leaves True Crime. We have Everett's daughter, Kate (played by Francesca Eastwood) and we have Gail Beecham, (played by Penny Bae Bridges) but I don't remember them on screen together. I don't recall any other children. However, I must ask....is the movie True Crime?
-
It is! :D
-
Great! But, you're probably not going to let me off that easy, are you? >:(. I guess I'm supposed to tell you who said it and to whom! Right? :tickedoff:
Well, if anyone else can jump in here, that would be great! I moved a few years ago and I'm not set up to critique these movies like I used to. IF....IF I get myself set up anytime soon, I'll try to find it. ::)

It's for the kids!
-
Finally! It took the Eastwood Challenge to do it! ;D
Got a new one for us? :)
-
Wait, I forgot it was mgk who got the movie! :D And she already posted a new one:
Hmmm, and it takes a woman to do it. Bless their hearts.
SKIP this one until we answer the one above. I got lost there for a minute. :-[ ::). I'll bump it after we figure out who's talking about the kids in KC's post.

Should be a cinch! ;)
-
Mgk's is Ben Rumson to Pardner in Paint Your Wagon.
And now....
You heard what she said about your own people? You gonna sit there and take that sh*t?
-
I don't even remember this one I posted, but it sure do sound familiar. Anyone?
-
Sounds like the sheriff (Bill McKinney) to Shockley in The Gauntlet?
-
Hey, that's it! You're up!
-
Hey, SK, write another quote, I miss playing this :)
-
Anyone who wants to jump in and get the game going again, go ahead. :)
-
Well if someone want to play, an easy one:
You know you did everything you could. Don't you?
-
"I don't know nothing. Not one damn thing."
Sally Gerber (Laura Dern) in A Perfect World
Next:
He couldn't convict Hitler.

Josephson to Shockley in The Gauntlet.
Right? ???
I will think about a next one.

That's right, Aline! :)

It's my brother.

Is that Dinah (Frances Fisher) to Tommy Nowack (Eastwood) in Pink Cadillac?
