I say the Steelers. They have a good defense and Rothlesburgher is on a roll. Actually, its not just Rothlesburgher, its the whole team. They just took out the # 1, #2, and #3 teams in the AFC.

Go Seahawks!!!
After what happened in the Bengals game, I hate the Steelers even more than I did before. (And no, I don't think it was a cheap shot, but it was heartbreaking.) And had Palmer stayed in that game, it's very possible, and very likely, that the Bengals would have jumped to a big lead before the Steelers started playing their game, and who knows, it might have been too late at that point. We can't know, but it was a very disappointing game, and I'd love to see the Seahawks trounce the Steelers.

I´ve been backing them for the entire season, and if you think that the steelers are on a roll, take a closer look at Seahawks stats.
But i do have a fondness for the steelers as well (especially after seeing them kick Manning and Colts out of the season) so i don´t mind if they win the bowl, no matter what, i think we´re in for one hell of a fight O0

I don't follow NFL much, but I have a particular fondnes for Seattle, and the Seahawks get overlooked, so I'm backing them to win...

so it wasn't a cheap shot, but you HATE them for something happening which was as you put it an accident, thats a bit harsh no, i'm going for the steelers as i've followed them since i got into NFL about 2 and ahalf years ago. i love a good running team.

Jerome Bettis is going to retire with a Super Bowl win in his hometown. Nuff' said.

Well, little bill, what's wrong with hating a football team? It's sports for God's sake. It's not like I wished their plane to go down. ::) I've been a long-time fan of the Cowboys (going back to the Superbowls they played against the Steelers in the 1970's), I was born in Cincinnati, my parents are big fans of the Bengals and had season tickets for many years, so yeah, the Steelers aren't one of my favorite teams.
-
Sigh ... you know you're a hopeless baseball fan when the Super Bowl is on and you're watching Venezuela play Mexico in the Caribbean World Series ... :-\
-
I don`t understand american football but Rolling Stones were good as always :)
-
Man, I took an hour off to watch Bleak House and this thing is still going on ... it's worse than Jarndyce v. Jarndyce! :o
And the baseball game is still going on too! :D
-
For once I was glad to be working last night and I was able to watch the Super Bowl. I was cheering on the Steelers. I enjoyed the game and the Rolling Stones. Their faces might need ironing but their energy is just as great as it was in the 1960's. ;D

Well, little bill, what's wrong with hating a football team?
no fan of football could possibly HATE another team, there is so much wrong with that statement it's incredible.
two words Sports and Rivalry, HATE has no place with those two words.
if you don't like one team you cheer for the other, hate doesn't need to be in the equation at all

Whatever! Okay, I don't like the Steelers. I root against the Steelers. I wasn't using hate in any way to indicate that I wished bad things on them (except for them to lose the game!). I sincerely don't want to see their players hurt, I don't want to see their stadium leveled by an earthquake, and I don't want to see their team dismantled or sold to another city. See? Hate is a relative term. So get off of my back.

other then to say HATE is not relative is solely means to absolute detest, irrespective of how incorrectly it is used.. i'm gone, way off "your back"

Maybe I should let this go, but I want one final say in this very strange exchange. One, I didn't start it. You jumped on me for what simply appears to me to be the fact that I don't root for the same team you do. So what! My best friend from work is from Pittsburgh, and is one of those delirious fans for whom the whole world revolves around the Pittsburgh Steelers. I respect his dedication, and he knows I'm not going to root for the Steelers anytime soon. And there is no animosity. When he made some comment about hating the New England Patriots, for whom I couldn't care less about one way or the other, I didn't jump on him about his use of the word "hate." I didn't automatically assume he'd like to see the New England Patriots wiped off the face of the earth. I took the comment for what it was, that it simply meant he wished to see them lose. It's nothing against any of the players on the team, it's nothing against any of the coaches or owners or against any of the fans. He has his loyalties and he has his emotions, and that's that. I didn't read any deeper into it.
So, really, what is your problem?! It's exchanges like this that make participating on Internet websites a waste of time. Then you write a "sentence" (and I put that in quotations, because this is no example of any sentence structure I ever learned) like:
other then to say HATE is not relative is solely means to absolute detest, irrespective of how incorrectly it is used..
What the heck does that mean? Can anyone decipher that for me? You use big words like "irrespective" to make yourself sound important, when the whole onslaught of words add up to absolutely nothing.
I don't root for the Steelers, and you have this huge problem with it. Why didn't you just say, "Sorry for giving you a hard time. It's all right." What the heck is wrong with you?
-
doug what i was simply trying to put across is that depsite what you said, there is a huge gulf between the sentiments of dislike and hatred, and that i didn't believe that you truly Hated one team just because they beat your favourites.
it's not a case of yuo not liking the steelers at all, i'm on many forums where i've been talking to seahawks fans without argument it's just thatone word,
i dunno maybe i am jumping the gun on it, maybe i am totally overreacting, but the last couple of days in the media we have been baraged with this onslaught of protests over the whole danish/islamic mess and hearing protestors talk of their hatred for the people responsible, it was shocking for me to see the word then used in respect to a football game

as a familiar actor once said , i looked it up ;)

Doug and little_bill, please don't squabble. You both are valued contributors to this website and you both should be above this kind of person-to-person bickering. Both of you could stand to review the Community Standards (http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?topic=3322.new#new), points "Flaming/Bashing Other Members" and "Respect Everyone's Opinion."
Doug, from now on, when you say "hate" with regards to sports teams ... use a smilie. :)
little_bill, if someone uses a word you don't like, try not to jump on them. It's only an Internet board. :) If you think a post is truly offensive, please report it to a Moderator rather than chastising the offender yourself.
Thanks for your cooperation.

ok
sorry KC, i got out of hand.
sorry doug for jumping on you.

Congratulations on steelers winning the superbowl Little_bill, I guess i´ll be chewing on the humblepie myself ;)
I found the two teams to be pretty equal, it wasn't until 4th quarter when seahawks got intercepted (which just about broke their spirit totally, to my mind) that the game became kinda "dull". it was nice that seahawks wasn't pummeled until 4th quarter, then we at least had an "exciting" game up until that.
Just out of curiosity, how much did you win (when you betted the steelers would win the SB at the start at the season) ??
-
I was hoping the Seahawks would win, but c'est la vie. The game was sloppy and a couple of controversial calls and record-setting plays kept me awake. 8)

i won 330 euros which is about 400 dollars, but i never saw it dane, i bet online so it went back into my credit card, it cleared the balannce but it never felt like i won as i never had the money, the bookies gave it to the credit company.
i placed a smaller bet in person and won 50 euros that felt like a much more satisfying win.

I watched it. Like Jed, I was hoping the Seahawks would win. They lost. I got over it. But still :(
a couple of controversial calls
You can say that again, Jed >:(
Like Roethlisberger's alleged touchdown. There was no touchdown!! >:( >:(

I know the feeling. i placed a few bet myself at an internet bookmaker, but not on the seahawks. we´re limited to two random games each sunday over here, so i only placed bets on games i had no big interest in to spice up the excitement about watching them.
It went pretty well all in all. throughout the entire season i came out with a winning of 180 euros (won some, lost some) All the money went to the credit card, and were used to cover the christmas expenses.
