Title: Storms in the U.S.

All is well where I live in TN. We had some bad storms, a lot of rain, and some power outages, but nothing I'm not used to after living so long in Florida.

I heard about the rain in Chicago (because I was watching that game last night) ... and I heard about the rain and the threat of rain in Oakland (because the Yanks are playing there) ... and I knew about the rain in New York (because I was out running in it) ... but I missed the news about the storms and tornadoes in Tennessee. :o

I was complaining about our weather today as it only got up to 13 degrees, but after seeing what's going on in the States,I've got nothing to complain about.

Personally, I was only affected by the baseball game getting rained out on Saturday and rescheduled on Sunday ... so I guess I have to count my blessings. It was getting quite annoying having to carry an umbrella and rain jacket to work every single day, though.

tgy, I trust that is 13° C! :o

Hold down the ALT key, pres 0176 on the number keypad, and let up the ALT key. ;)

I do it another way but that way will work.

Post by: Lin Sunderland on July 01, 2006, 03:19:03 AM: Thank you for clearing the degree symbol mystery KC. I tried a couple of the others on the shortcut website you posted but I wasn't able to get the 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 to work. The fractions are what I really want. :(

I hope the storms have passed now and you can leave your umbrella at home. :)

They work for me, Lin ... are you sure you're using the number keypad, to the right of the main keyboard? :)

You can also download a little freeware program from the Internet and just use easy to remember shortcuts ... it's what I use.

I cannot remember the last time we got thunderstorms here in July and I have been here all of my life.The rain and thunder is very pleasant and nice because death seems easier sometimes then Texas summers.

I'm surprised to hear you seldom get thunderstorms there in July though ... it's probably the biggest month for them up here.

Post by: KC on July 12, 2006, 07:54:50 PM: Violent thunderstorms with drenching downpours off and on all day today in New York ... and a tornado in Westchester County (just to the north)! :o

I got caught in a couple of downpours on the way home from work (fortunately, in Midtown Manhattan there's plenty of shelter) ... then went out for a run in Central Park in stifling humidity, but no rain and actually quite a bit of sun. I then betook myself about a mile downtown to visit a friend who's just moved into an apartment on Tenth Avenue with a stunning view of the Hudson. When I left around ten P.M. ... no rain in sight. I no sooner got indoors and turned on the computer than it began to pour outside again ... and I hear the thunder rumble. I should probably turn the thing off till this passes.

We had one of the wettest Junes on record, and it's beginning to look as if July won't be a heck of a lot drier! :o
