Yup, Chessie, that would be 2:00 PM for you on the west coast. Masterchief, this would be a Sunday night for you if you're in England... around 10:00 PM. Fortunately, Dirty Harry is one of the shorter films, so if we start on time, we'd be done by midnight. Is that acceptable?
so do we watch the film as we discuss it ???
Everyone should turn off their cell phones during the movie in case Brendan decides to join us. ;)
Matt, do you ever actually delete a private message?
Christopher got chatty this month. ;);D
;D
I'm only about 30 or so behind you.
Is there a capacity limit to the number of PMs our inboxes will hold?
I think I've got at least that many calling me a fascist pr*ck. ;
I think I've got at least that many calling me a fascist pr*ck. ;DBTW, just so no one makes the connection, I may have gotten chatty, but I'm not belligerent. ;) ;D
BTW, just so no one makes the connection, I may have gotten chatty, but I'm not beligerent. ;) ;D
In regards to the point of this thread... ;) My computer doesn't have a DVD drive (I know, I know, I'm so last century ;)), and our DVD player is in another room than the one the computer is in, so I really can't participate.I was wondering whether people were planning to watch on the computer, or on a TV set. I could do either but since I have a big screen TV at a reasonable distance from the computer, that's probably what I'll use.
If it's tonight I can't make it... :'(Next Sunday, D'Amb! 8)
wkc, if you or any other Aussies had posted to let us know you were interested, we would have taken that into consideration and tried to find a time that would have worked for you too. Let me know the time difference where you are. What time of the morning did our film night start for you "down under"?
Yes, that's 16 hours ahead of U.S. east coast time. So, we started last night at 9:00 AM your time. How's that work with your schedule? I know we can't start later than we did last night because our British members had a hard time keeping with us until midnight. The only possible chance is earlier, but that would only be worse for you there.
I am sure Americanbeauty would like to see Play Misty as well. You guessed right Lin ! ;) but I wouldn't mind if you guys decided to watch OJW ... I like them both ;)
Well Masterchief, we can't have you missing out so I guess we ought to pick another movie.
Been reading Orwell, masterchief? ??? ;)Yep ;D
Any plans for another movie night?
Hope you can make it Matt, and things aren't too nuts in a bad way.
Well, for the next few weeks, or even months, my house is on the market, and realtors may be calling for me to leave so they can show it.I guess moving/selling is always stressful, I hope it goes well. They must do things differently over there, here we've always shown potential buyers around ourselves - no annoying estate agents (as we call "realtors" in that weird Brit speak).
But, you know if I can make it, I'll be here.
... does Katie have to leave the house too when the buyers show up? (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/boardwink.gif)
Is this going to be a "Girls Night Out"? We need some more testosterone if I'm going to be anywhere near this month's movie night if it winds up being Bridges. Masterchief, Dannyman, Brendan, D'Amb, Christopher? (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/boardhuh.gif)
Tightrope will be on the poll for next month's Movie Night. If the girls get too hard to take during Bridges, we'll comment all through Tightrope about how sexy Becky is. (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/boardwink.gif);D ;D ;D ;D aaaahhhh ... you guys ;)
Can we just check the time on the web please so that there is no chance that we miss anything. Are on we Central time? :) That is 6 hours ahead for us in the UK
Tightrope will be on the poll for next month's Movie Night. (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/boardwink.gif)
Either way, I have no life here ;) :D;D ;D
(I apologize if I offend the women who stuck with discussing the film last month. I mean no offense to any of the wonderful women here. I'm just stating a concern I have, whether it's right or wrong.)
This Sunday at 5:00.
I'm losing it. Sorry, Brendan. I did say the 20th. I don't know why I was thinking it was this weekend. (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/scratchhead.gif)
Yes, it's the 20th at 5:00 PM.
DAmbrosia, Enjoy Myrtle Beach and your golf.
I voted for Play Misty for Me ... just in case I can't make it, I wouldn't want you to discuss Unforgiven without me.From KC in the other thread.
You consider Play Misty for Me a romance, Gimpy? (http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/boardhuh.gif)
What kind of love life has gimpy had?!
Two romances in a rowMy first thought was that if romance was like that, I'd rather stay a bachelor for the rest of my life. ;)
And there is that interlude to The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face... :-*Very true. It might sound odd for a guy to say this (though maybe not odd for me to say this ;)), but I do consider that scene to be one of the best "love scenes" I've ever seen in my life.
It might sound odd for a guy to say this (though maybe not odd for me to say this ;))
(http://home.swfla.rr.com/mattreigns/lol.gif) You got that in there before Conan or I had the chance to.I should probably clarify that I don't view Misty as being a romantic movie either. As I said, bachelor-city if it was. ;D
Maybe it'll draw more attention to our Movie Nights and get us even more participation.I do think it will 8)
That's a very good idea you've had here O0
I'll be at the next one so long as it is on a Sat/Sun when I'm not working. Don't forget me (http://www.discodelic.netfirms.com/sad-sniff1.gif) Please
I've had a request for the next one to be on the weekend of April 16-17. How's that for everyone?
I'd love to put Bronco Billy on the poll, but I know that hasn't been released on R2 DVD yet. We have all the Eastwood films on R1 DVD, but I thought only about 60% have been released on R2. Is that right?I'd say rather 80%. You can find them all, but for some of them you have to search really hard ;)
Bronco Billy. Really..! I've never seen it.You can find it here. Region 2 8)
I didn't think the Every/Any Whch Way films or The Beguiled have ever been available on region 2.The Beguiled was available in France, now out of print, under the title "Les Proies", as for AWW and EWW there are a few R2 copies on eBay, but as the DVD is long out of print they're pretty expensive....
Just to make this clear (as everybody seems to be saying everything).
The Beguiled
Every which way but loose
Any which way you can
Bronco Billy
Breezy
Bird
Honkytonk man
White hunter black heart
City heat
Tightrope
The Rookie
These are the titles that are either not released in reg 2 or are not for single purchase.
In other words you may lose people if you play these films.
Philo .
is it time for Unforgiven... :)
Well for one reason they will be SECAM.True, I'd forgotten that detail. Is it possible to view a SECAM video with PAL equipment, the way (as I understand it) most of today's PAL sets can display NTSC videos?
Just to make this clear (as everybody seems to be saying everything).

Why don't you guys do The Rookie ... since I'm going to be on vacation for half of July! :D
why does that let you off :o
you can still run the vhs - i don't think you get out of it that easily
(I'm logging in tonight from Stockholm, Sweden! ;) )
and the ketchup...
If KC can join us, of course ;)
Lin, what's your Sunday schedule look like for the next few weeks?
I wish it worked for me.:'(
I wish it worked for me.
As for your other question... yes, I use the "Refresh" button on my browser. I know that KC knows of a keyboard shortcut method that refreshes your browser too. (KC....... ?)
shortcuts: hit alt+s to submit/post or alt+p to preview
We had talked about doing Unforgiven again, maybe on a Saturday night, so some of the people who missed it in November could have a chance to join in. Is there still interest in that?
And if we did Bronco Billy, maybe Lin would grow more of an appreciation for it. ;)
Bronco Billy could be fun... if those non-Region 1 members are able to find the DVD.
I could participate too, I have speakers now 8) I'll have to check my schedule when I get home, I hope I can make it. I'm travelling around Finland (holiday!) and I don't have my schedule wiht me. I'll be back later.. 8)
Oh, is it stil going to be Thunderbolt and Lightfoot? I'll have to buy that one, I hope I can find it somewhere.. ???
Well, maybe it's time to start talking about what movie we'd like to do? Any suggestions? :)My suggestions are 1. Million Dollar Baby or
I'm 16 hours into the future so it would be 9am here. :)
I had another thought.
Tightrope would be a good choice as it's still our current film discussion film and after watching it we might want to add to those threads.
And when the next film discussion starts maybe we could have that film as a movie night.
I know a lot of people like real "chat" programs, but I think it's nice to have the discussions posted here for people who might have to miss the movie night itself but would like to know what fellow Eastwood Web Board members had to say as they watched it.
hope there'll be enough popcorn for everyone! ;)
Maybe it's time to call for a "show of hands." Who CAN join us to watch Tightrope on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 5:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time?
Maybe I can find a copy and watch Tightrope on my vacation. I will post comments then. Is that cool? I have only seen that film once and to be honest, I do not remember that much about it. I definitely need to view it again.
Pale Rider was the first film I thought of when it was mentioned that we might watch a western,I'm sure AB wouldn't mind watching that one. :)Aahh, you know me too well, Kid ;) Besides, Pale Rider happens to be one of the few Eastwood films I brought with me when I moved here.
But you know me I'll watch anything so I'm easy to please.Same here. Whichever film you guys decide to watch is fine by me O0 As long as Eastwood's in it :D ;D
Pale Rider happens to be one of the few Eastwood films I brought with me when I moved here.
Why doesn't that suprise me.It's the beard isn't AB? :DIt is :D ;D
We did talk about having an encore presentation of Unforgiven. Can you believe that it's nearly 18 months since we had it!18 months already??!! :o
We did talk about having an encore presentation of Unforgiven. Can you believe that it's nearly 18 months since we had it! Where does the time go?
We did talk about having an encore presentation of Unforgiven. Can you believe that it's nearly 18 months since we had it! Where does the time go?Thank you Kid. I would love to do Unforgiven. It is a film that I have scene many times and I would love to share my thoughts with all of you while watching that masterpiece.
I think CL and Richard said Sunday nights were better for them too??
And here is the place for a show of hands of those who can and will be here for the event! 8)
Or buy the DVD ... it was filmed in beautiful Canada, you know! ;)Yes I know, and I should get around to buying the DVD!! But I could bring my laptop and watch the VHS I guess!! O0
Aw, I'm sorry, Jaffe. It's hard to find a time of day that's possible for Clint fans all over the world.
Would it be easier for you if we did another Saturday Movie Night next time? ???
Yeah, I know it's difficult to set a time that suits everyone... Saturdays would be easier for me and I think for many european members.
Well the August movie night never eventuated. :(
Anyone interested in a movie night in September? Again I'll only start a poll if we get at least six members interested.
Or should we wait for the end of the baseball season? Actually when does that finish?
Any suggestions for a film?
How about a Movie Night for October? ::)
OK, we'll try to keep it on Sunday, the 28th, then, if that works for the others. And, of course, if two more people "sign up" here!
Hmmm Magnum Force yeah. We haven't done a Magnum Force movie night yet, have we?
It sounds like Satu, Lin, Richard Earl and AB are all ready and willing to do this on the 25th ... and the film can be Magnum Force ... and the Kid has volunteered to be our leader! :)Sounds good to me as well. O0
Is everyone happy with Magnum Force on the 25th?
Also do you want to start the film at the usual time of 2:00pm (USA West Coast) / 10:00pm (London) or an hour earlier like we did for Every Which Way But Loose back in July?
Great you will be able to be our leader Kid. O0
The usual starting time is better for me and I think that would suit satu as well if she has to work.
Don't you mean earlier as it won't finish as late?
Does anyone know what Clint films have not been done on movie night?
maybe Hang 'Em High.
Have we a date in mind?
Clint gets hanged in the opening scene!
February weekends are 2/3, 9/10, 16/17, and 23/24.
I notice that there are many board members that are online late at night. I would love to do a Sunday night movie night at around 11:00 pm Central Time. I would do many of them. O0 Is anyone interested in this possibility?
[/quote
That will be only for the moment because of mysterious " Grand Torino" ! :( But for me 1 hour of delay is OK , & since yesterday
to the end of October, we are in the summer time ! O0

O0 Is anyone interested in this possibility?I am like, the BIGGEST night owl EVER ;) So yeah, that would totally work for me, provided that I can get the film.
Since we had a low turn-out in March and Lin had PC problems on the night, is anyone interested in an encore Josey Wales movie night on Sunday April 27?
Sunday? At what time would it be? ::)
I think I may be celebrating Russian Easter that night (since our usual Easter group couldn't get together on "regular" Easter).
That does sound very weird Lin :D
The only thing I can think of that would make that happen would be if the OJW DVD had some sort of DVD-ROM features that autoplay when you put the disc in and that your PC isn't getting on well with it. Although mine doesn't do that so its very strange!
Damn. It doesn't look good :-\
In the Line of Fire is good for me.
In the Line of Fire is good for me.for me too & 21:00 UTC. Nice to get T.S.KID, too ! 8)
Tommorrow is fine. The problem is I don't have the movie. :-\ I'd love to see it, but I just called my dad and he said we don't have it.
Of course I can rent it.
As suggested by Higashimori we will be watching Honkytonk Man on Clint's birthday, Sunday May 31, 2009.
There won't be a poll for our next movie night in May.
As suggested by Higashimori we will be watching Honkytonk Man on Clint's birthday, Sunday May 31, 2009.
It's still 6 weeks away, so if you want to join us but don't have the film, there's plenty of time.
From Sunday May 17, I'll be asking for anyone who will be joining us to post here, so I can send the usual reminder PM's to those board members the night before.
Looks like I'll be here on the night(Morning). 8)
I'm playing golf tomorrow and again next Sunday, so I'll want a break the following week before playing two weeks in a row after that. So it's all come together nicely. O0
We'll be starting an hour earlier, Satu, if that will help.
You mean 11pm here? Sorry I don't know how to use the time zone calculator.
But I will join anyway, I don't have to work on Monday morning. ;)
Glad you can join us, Satu! :)O0
Unfortunately I can't make it because I'll be at work. :(:(
These should be the starting times in various places:
In CDT (U.S. Central Time Zone) states - 3:00 PM
In EDT (U.S. East Coast) states - 4:00 PM
In Great Britain, Portugal - 9:00 PM
In France, Italy - 10:00 PM
In Finland - 11:00 PM
In Sydney and Melbourne, Australia - 6:00 AM, Monday June 1st
Ohhh cut the malarchy and post the next "Vote for October movie night" thread will ya. (http://www.allposterforum.com/Smileys/classic/grin.gif)
You'll just have to wait a few more days. Just like Collingwood for that Premiership. :D
And thanks to YOU, SK! You're the one who's making the "each month" thing happen!
Hooray!
Just two more weeks to go until we watch White Hunter, Black Heart. :)
KC's PC is back, and hopefully 2M will get his back too before the night.
Welcome back KC and 2M. Now you can both join the movie night. I was worried. :(
I wouldn't miss this one. If my computer goes down again, I'm posting from my phone ... though it took me half an hour to get a PM to SK last week, when my computer first died!
I would be happy to have a movie night in December.
Maybe a few more members might attend this as it is one of Clint's most popular films, especially by the ladies.
All are welcome. 8)
Also I would love to see the old gang back including SC, Greeneyes, Lin., E77, KC and SK plus the others who took part from time to time, along with the new members. :)
Sundays are pretty good for me right now. Would love to take part in another movie night. March and April are about the same for me. I'm good with any of the movies mentioned except Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, which I only have on VHS (but the machine doesn't work anymore).
I sure missed our Movie Nights 8)
I'd be happy to join if I can.
... just have to keep my fingers crossed that Tracey doesn't go into labour half way through the movie!
TwoMules, if we wait till April, could you make it then?
KC, I will be busy most of April working away from home but I will try and make the 28th. :) Do you know the film yet?No, I thought I'd wait until we had a few people agreed on a date.
No, I thought I'd wait until we had a few people agreed on a date.
Elizabeth77 and JSE, could you make it on the 28th? It's not really good for me but I will do my best!
No, I thought I'd wait until we had a few people agreed on a date.
Elizabeth77 and JSE, could you make it on the 28th? It's not really good for me but I will do my best!
The 21st would be better for me, although at a pinch I could make 28th.
Congratulations JSE. Hope all goes well for Tracey and the new arrival. :)
SK you are forgiven however you will be missed. :(
All right, we have Elizabeth77, JSE, TwoMules, Lin and myself who can all make it on the 28th. Now all we have to do is decide on a movie!
Thanks TwoMules :)
Are we to have a poll for the movie choice? Doesn't have to be the three I mentioned, I'm happy to watch any movie!
Thanks KC. :)
We'll elimintate Thunderbolt and Lightfoot since Elizabeth doesn't have it. That leaves:
- The Beguiled
- The Eiger Sanction
- Every Which Way But Loose
Any other suggestions before we set up the poll? For the record, Every Which Way But Loose is the only one that we didn't have on a Movie Night in 2011; it has only been watched here once, in 2007.
I'm in! I'm GMT +2(Paris).we'll see if I'll have something interesting to say about it lol
Is it time for another Movie Night? Any movie suggestions from those who would like to join us?
