I just read through the media that Clint has agreed to lend his voice and talent to a new series of video games that are based on his legendary character of "Dirty Harry." Great idea! But someone should also let him know that the world would love him to do the same with his character of "The Man With No Name," from Director Sergio Leone's "Dollar's Trilogy." This character led to the Spaghetti Western craze of the late sixties and early seventies, with many clones of this character. Leone's "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," is still in the minds and hearts of many and considered one of the best western films of all time. And who could forget the music of Ennio Morricone, who luckily is still with us today. Not only could Clint lend his talent to a project such as this and continue the "MWNN" legacy, it would also pay homage to the late great Sergio Leone. And could we also get Morricone to lend more of his magnificent and timeless western music? Wow, think about this possibility! Can anyone out there possibly get this message to Clint? I'm sure some others out there are thing like me too. Good luck also to Clint at the Oscars!

sounds great! I think they already have something "inspired" by the Man with No Name with the game called Red Dead Revolver. Very spagetti western type game.

By Chris Marlowe
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fans everywhere will be judging how lucky they feel now that Clint Eastwood is bringing the Dirty Harry franchise to video games.
Eastwood will lend his voice and likeness to reprise his internationally famous role of Inspector Harry Callahan. Even more significantly, the Academy Award winner is consulting on key creative aspects of the game design.
"This will be an opportunity to satisfy the many requests over the years to continue the Dirty Harry legacy, only now in the video game medium," Eastwood said. "Creating Dirty Harry video games will also introduce this memorable film character to new generations on a medium they appreciate."
Eastwood's Malpaso Prods. banner is partnering on the project with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which is overseeing development of what will be the first title in a game franchise.
The project is in an early stage, so no release date has been set. However, all of the franchise's titles will be for the imminent next generation of consoles such as Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox.
Reuters/Hollywood Reporter
I'm glad he'll have creative input and will help oversee the project. At least that way it has potential to be a good game.

This appeared on MovieHole today http://www.moviehole.net/news/5133.html (the webmaster's name is Clint):
Hi Clint,
Love this site. I just read that Clint Eastwood is making a "Dirty Harry" video-game. Does this mean he will do a new "Dirty Harry" movie, too?
WK
WK,
One of Hollywood’s up-and-coming screenwriters is out to convince Clint to return to the role of ‘Dirty Harry’ Callahan. The scribe – who wishes to remain nameless, if only so it doesn’t jinx any prospective film – says his idea for the film would be to have the ageing cop take on a copycat killer. The kicker? The crook is copycatting the crimes of the original film’s villain. Nice. Will it happen? Dunno.
-
Don't know about the movie but the video game sounds great . yet another excuse for me and my 12 year old son to battle it out on the Playstation .
-
Hey, the site I work for just posted a longer article on the game: http://ps2.gamezone.com/news/02_24_05_10_28AM.htm
-
Wow great news O0 O0
Go for it Clint !
(Anyway I think he already made his decision 8))
I think it's a good idea, and that way die-hard Dirty Harry fans will only be half disappointed about Eastwood's decision not to take up again his role as Dirty Harry Callahan ... at least they will have this game ... to make up for their frustration.
They could name it "Dirty Harry 6" or "DH the return" or "he's back" ^-^
It will be just like in the old times, just as if Eastwood/Callahan was back O0
I sure will buy it O0 O0 O0 O0

Steven - I merged your topic with one that already existed.
This is a video game set to release in 2006. If you will look on the IMDb page, you will see that it has (VG) out beside it which indicates that it is a "video game."

Dirty Harry: Quick 'n' Dirty Q&A
We check in with Warner Bros. on the just-announced next-gen series.
by David Adams
February 24, 2005 - Earlier today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced a series of next-generation console games based on the classic Dirty Harry films. The first title, to be developed by an as-yet-undisclosed studio, has the involvement of Clint Eastwood himself, who will provide creative input as well as lend his voice and likeness to the title.
We checked in with Jason Hall, Senior Vice President at Warner Bros. Interactive (and former CEO of Monolith), to get some more Dirty Harry dirt -- at least, as much as Hall is able to offer.
IGN: Did the Dirty Harry project originate at Warner Bros. Interactive, and then involve soliciting Clint Eastwood, or did Eastwood come to you?
Jason Hall: We thought Dirty Harry would be a perfect property and character for video games, and we were delighted to find Clint was more than receptive to collaborating with WBIE on bringing the franchise to gamers.
IGN: What is it like working with Clint Eastwood?
Jason Hall: Clint Eastwood is an absolute gentleman. We are excited to get the chance to work with such a creative legend and look forward to working with him more as we progress in the development of the game.
IGN: Will the Dirty Harry games recreate the plots of the films, or are you working on original storylines?
Jason Hall: The games will have original storylines based on the established character and world from the films.
IGN: Have you recruited anyone else from the original Dirty Harry crew, along with Eastwood?
Jason Hall: Our partnership with Clint Eastwood is all we are announcing now.
IGN: How will Dirty Harry play? Are we looking at a straight-forward action title, or maybe something along the lines of Grand Theft Auto, as EA seems to be doing with The Godfather?
Jason Hall: We will have more game details to announce soon.
IGN: You've announced Dirty Harry as a next-generation console game. What will distinguish the game as distinctly next-gen?
Jason Hall: Those details will be disclosed later.
IGN: Does Warner Bros. have other classic films set to be reborn in games?
Jason Hall: You'll have to wait for future announcements but rest assured we are taking a close look at all of our options.
IGN: Most importantly, for our records, what's your favorite Dirty Harry film?
Jason Hall: All of them!

I know that alot of you don't even play video games, but you got to admit, thats just freakin' ownage! :D
-
I've heard about this project. The only interesting part of that interview is that they are working with Clint, the rest of it is a waste. He can't answer anything about the game itself and then won't even man up to single out his favorite "Harry".
-
i'd say thats cause the game will try and incorporate parts from all the movies into one game.
-
i'd say thats cause the game will try and incorporate parts from all the movies into one game.
It probably will, but his answer to the favorite "Harry" question sounds like typical PR speak to me.
-
I don't have a games system (unless you count my PC). I will be eager to see this game when it is released. It would be good if they didn't make it too far fetched, but I guess that could be the case.
Philo .

I've merged this topic with the one we already had going. :)

sounds great! I think they already have something "inspired" by the Man with No Name with the game called Red Dead Revolver. Very spagetti western type game.
I'm a video game junky! and yes, I have Red Dead Revolver too, the character Red is very similar to Eastwood... and the music is very Morricone like as well.
Fun game!
I can't wait for the Dirty Harry game... I hope it comes out for Xbox.. cuz that's what I got. ::)
Oh by the by... here is Red.. and how similar he looks to Clint...

I hope they include a level based on that miniature car that pursues Harry in The Dead Pool. ;D I watched that film again the other night and love that sequence, such a clever variation on the standard car chase schtick. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the whole movie!

I agree, it gets some overly harsh reviews both from Clint fans and regular movie joes. "The Dead Pool" is more formula relative to the rest of the "Harry" series, but its no "The Rookie" by any means.
-
good news for gamers - i think
and if the godfather game is anything to go by they should get a good likeness and some of the bond games are good as well
if they can't get a good likeness then i suggest they don't bother

i am DYING...to see this game :o...i cannot wait...till dirty harry comes out ... O0 i will b definitely rentin it!.. O0
-
A game?! Aww, crap. Why do people think this is a good idea. The movies should stay as movies. I haven't played a good movie game yet (exception to GoldenEye for the 64). They are also doing this to other great movies like Scarface, The Godfather, The Warriors, even Jaws where you play as Jaws! I'm afraid just because they hired Clint to do the voice acting, doesn't make it a good game. Well, we will just have to wait and see. I have a bad feeling about this game.
-
Did someone mention The Good, The Bad & The Ugly video game that MGM Interactive is developing? Because that's in the works too.
-
There is a first person shooter western coming out pretty soon simply titled "Gun." Its a PC game; I don't know if its coming out for consoles. The developers claim it to be more than just a shoot-em-up in the west.
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/gun/index.html
Its not basd on a Clint movie obviously, but I'm sure parts of it will be Eastwood and spaghetti western inspired.
-
It's believed that the game will follow the same storyline of the film in which the San Francisco detective is tracking down a serial killer called Scorpio.
Link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Harry_(video_game))
Ok, this is only a rumor, but still. What about Magnum Force, The Enforcer ... ? :(
I've always thought that it would be a mix of all the Dirty Harry movies.
I hope a PC version of the game will also be released.
Will it be a platformer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_game) -why not? :D, or a first-person shooter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_person_shooter), or a third-person shooter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_person_shooter)? ???
What do you think?
I like shoot'em ups 8)

Big news today concerning the upcoming Dirty Harry videogame. Gene Hackman and Laurence Fishburne have signed on to lend their voices as Police Supervisor Al Bressler and Rev. Carlton Clay, respectively. As previously reported, Eastwood will lend both his voice and likeness as Harry Callahan.
Warner is also planning to release a "Definitive" edition of all five films in 2007. Each will be a HD DVD title, and Eastwood will also be helping out with the extras.
You can read the full release here:

Wow, sounds good. O0
-
For the DVD release, all films from the celebrated franchise -- Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact and The Dead Pool -- will be upgraded to HD DVD with completely revamped sound and, with the help of Eastwood himself, may feature some never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage and many other bonus materials.
Need I state the obvious? Please, Warner, include the original theatrical mono tracks.
-
Hi All
First time poster here (uk). Been a massive Clint and harry fan for over 20 years now. Whilst checking my usual sites for movie news today came across this interesting piece. Not sure about the sound of the 'New' harry movie, I think the idea sounds a bit lazy to me, though the game is sounding promising, especially having Hackman aboard, popeye vs callahan - now there's a game in it's own right. Check out the link: http://www.moviehole.net/news/20060511_the_return_of_dirty_harry.html
Marcos :)
p.s. I am also a writer/filmmaker - Dirty Harry fans oughta check out our No Budget films - Bluesmoke - which are basically one big in joke with homages to Dirty Harry and 70's Cop shows, as well as many other classic movie references. All our films are totally free to download: http://www.bluesmoke.org.uk/downloads1.htm :D
-
That would be GREAT!!! I want just one more Dirty Harry film.
-
Wow, sounds good. O0
Yep, it sure does 8)
Still no release date for the game? :-\

:o :o Did I just read what I think I read? "EXTRAS" and "BONUS MATERIALS"?? :D A dream comes true :D
-
I'm looking forward to the Dirty Harry Video Game coming out next year. O0
But yet another reason for Warner to re-release the movies and squeeze more money from the fans just like MGM are now doing with the James Bond Ultimate Editions DVDs.
Only 2 or 3 years down the line and these versions will end up redundant to make way for yet another new editions. It will never end. :(

Enter 'Dirty Harry' in search, and two videos come up = one with the trailer and the other video from the event, with Eastwood himself talking about the game.
-
thanx... it looks cool... especialy the voice
-
Also cool to see that it takes place in the 70's.
"Dirty Harry takes place between the first and second films. Set in 1970's San Francisco,...".
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/707/707408p1.html
Also, some more info:
The trailer is neither CG cut-scene nor actual gameplay. Instead, WBIE gave their models and engine schematics to an animation house, which produces the trailer. It's a simulation of the gameplay, which is promised to equal the game quality already seen in house. The level of detail was impressive. The hills of San Francisco have never looked better and the '70s vibe was in full effect. Dirty Harry's face is a spitting image of the movie version. Most impressive was how perfect developer The Collective captured Eastwood's steely gaze.
The highlight was when Harry shoved a crook's head in a vice and was squeezin' it, a la an interrogation scene from The Punisher. "The head in the vice gag," Eastwood quipped, "I never thought of that one before."
WBIE was reluctant to release details on the gameplay or the plot, but offered a few hints. The story, while not a 100% connective thread from the first to second Harry flick, will "explore the character more." While it was never confirmed, it sounded like Harry would offer a free-roaming San Francisco. "The city of San Francisco can be a character," WBIE VP Jason Hall said. "It can live."
One key aspect of gameplay was discussed in slight detail. As in the films, Harry walks the line between bad cop and psychopath. Players will also walk that line. The game features reactive AI, both for crooks and cops. While there was no further explanation, it appears that if you are soft on crooks, they may not take Harry seriously. On the other end, going to nuts will put you in trouble with the police chief.
Dirty Harry won't arrive until the first half of 2007.

Much more dignified was the appearance of an indisputable film legend at E3. On Thursday afternoon in a closed-door session attended by only a few journalists, Clint Eastwood turned up to promote his forthcoming Dirty Harry game for next-generation consoles. Though he'll turn 76 at the end of the month, the Oscar-winning actor-director seemed energetic and affable, and announced that two stars of his films, Gene Hackman (Unforgiven) and Laurence Fishburne (Mystic River), will lend their voices and likenesses to the Dirty Harry game.

Normally I hate any videogame that is made after a movie. Because when it is all said and done, the game isn't anywhere as good as the movie (i.e. The Godfather, The Warriors). But with Clint's approval and support of this, hopefully it will change my views.

Just saw the trailer.The voice....
Can't wait for this one although I'm not a fun of vg's.Suppose I'll have to buy playstation3,but it doesn't matter, because this one is a lifetime expectation.

Uh... if you arn't a big gamer, then I would suggest getting a Xbox 360. They go for $400. I say this not because I'm a fanboy (which I am not by the way), but because the PS3 is going to cost you $600. And if you arn't a big gamer, and DH is also going to be on the 360, then there is no reason to pay that much more.
-
I'd pay at least 3 times more,if I had the chance to enjoy it today. And if I'm allowed to repeat ...THE VOICE....
-
It has pbbly been mentioned earlier in this thread, but will it be released on PC too?
Because as much as I want to play it, I don't intend to buy the X Box or the PS3 just for this game.

Glenny, I merged your topic in the Dirty Harry forum with this one in the News forum. We'd like to keep all the news about this video game in one place.
Because I wanted to keep the existing topic title, I edited your post to explain that it's about the trailer. :)

Thanks, ;)
But, what is the game storyline?
Just Dirty Harry or all the films?
-
I thought it would be a mix of all the films -I thought I had read somewhere that it would be -logical if you consider that there were 5 Dirty Harry movies, but informations concerning the storyline seem to vary depending on the source ???
From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Harry_(video_game)): While Callahan seeks to clean up the streets as the only way he sees fit, it's believed that the game will follow the same storyline of the film in which the San Francisco detective is tracking down a serial killer called Scorpio.
Guess we'll have to wait and see ;)

THE DIRTY HARRY VIDEO GAME IS A GREAT IDEA. I CAN,T WAIT TO PLAY.I HOPE THEY MAKE THE CHARACTER LOOK LIKE HE DOES IN EACH DIRTY HARRY MOVIE AND USE IDEAS FROM EACH DIRTY HARRY THRU TO SUDDEN IMPACT.ALSO, I HOPE HE CREATES A WESTERN VIDEO GAME ."THE MAN WITH NO NAME" IS A MUST FOR A WESTERN VIDEO GAME.THE VIDEOGAME WORLD WILL BE INCOMPLETE WITHOUT ONE. ALSO,IDEALLY THE GAME COULD HAVE DIFFERENT LEVELS: ONE WITH JOSEY WALES ,ANOTHER WITH HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER ,ANOTHER WITH PALE RIDER.OR THEY THEY EACH COULD BE MADE AS SEPERATE VIDEO GAMES.GOOD LUCK! SINCERELY , ANTHONY O.

I just re-watched the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uDIyJBPsWQ&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpopoholic%2Ecom%2Fpop%2Dvideo%2Dyoutube%2Ephp%3Fid%3D9uDIyJBPsWQ%26title%3DDirty%2520Harry%2520Video%2520Game%2520Preview). It looks like they changed the name of the killer from Scorpio to "the Gemini killer" ???
I don't remember it said "Gemini killer" when I first watched the trailer a few months ago. Why would they change it?
-
Huh? That's the wrong zodiac sign altogether! ???
-
A little bit of disappointing (or at least slightly worrying) news on the development front for Dirty Harry: The Game.
Looks like there has been a bit of a re-shuffle with The Collection stopping development on the project. Warner have confirmed that they will release sometime in 2007 however...
Here's the full story anyway Gamespot News Story (http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6166620.html)
-
Looks like it'll be good. They could do a little more work on Harry's face, though. ;)
Judging from the video clip (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2780), sounds like they've compiled audio snippets from the original movie and possibly other films, because that's definitely a younger Eastwood's voice. In that cafe scene he mutters, "Now who might you be?" to the punk. I know I've heard that line before, but just can't recall what movie it's from. I think it was High Plains Drifter?
-
The Enforcer ... the scene with Mrs. Grey! :D
-
Now I remember! It was the scene with Mrs. Grey in The Enforcer! I knew it would come back.... ;)
Thanks KC. :D
-
Those look like cutscenes. I'd be curious to see what the actual gameplay is like. If Monolith takes over development that would be a good thing; they have a solid track record.
-
Those screen caps look pretty darn creepy.
-
They could do a little more work on Harry's face, though. ;)
You can say that again! That looks terrible! The suit however is bang on ! O0 ;D ;D
-
If you made his face green in the last photo--the "You've got to ask youself one question" pic--he'd look like the bad guy from The Mask, or at least that's who it made me think of.
-
Yeah I'm not sure I like him with a green face....looks more like a horror-based game. Or he could be an invincible Callahan that comes back from the grave, wreaking total vengeance on all the rotten punks in society... 8)
-
How about this instead?
-
(http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/5510/dhjokermd2.jpg)
That's Huey Lewis!!!! :D
-
No, it's The Joker!! :D
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9d/Joker-ritz.jpg/464px-Joker-ritz.jpg)
He does look a little creepy on that last cap.
-
Or we can combine the two and make him a Dirty-Harry-Joker vigilante:
We need to send these ideas to the game developers.... ::)
-
And Clint said he'd never make a comic book movie. ::)

here is a trailer..i dont know if its real
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uDIyJBPsWQ
-
Yep, that's the one O0
Except it's not made by The Collective anymore, from what I understand.
-
I was re-watching the trailer, and ... are we sure they used Eastwood's current voice? It sounds pretty young to me ??? Not that Clint has an "old" voice, but he sure doesn't sound like he did 30 years ago.
Maybe they used audios clips from the film ???
-
Thats exactly what I thought Americanbeauty.

When he says, "Is that tan Ford still parked across from the bank" it is definitely taken from the movie. If you listen to how it is said in the movie, it is exact.
Anyway, I have been very excited about this game for awhile now. Still looking for a solid release date.
-
It`s most likely that I won`t buy this videogame since I never buy them but I got to say that this one(the trailer anyway)looked pretty damn cool O0
And I believe too that Harry`s voice is taken from the original DH-film but so wath.It worked beautifully.

Heard this game got canceled or put on hold at least. Anyone else heard that?

Collective staff cuts follow Dirty Harry 'transitioning'
Source close to Foundation 9 division claims 30 staffers laid off following abrupt stoppage of work on film license; Warner Bros. asserts development will continue at new studio.

In the seminal 1970 crime thriller Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood uttered one of his signature lines. "Do you feel lucky?" he asked a wounded bank robber looking down the barrel of his possibly empty .44 magnum revolver. "Well, do ya, punk?"
Today came word that the developer of the Dirty Harry game is feeling very unlucky indeed. This afternoon, GameSpot received word that The Collective, a division of Foundation 9 Entertainment, is no longer working on the adaptation of the seminal Warner Bros. film. According to a source close to Foundation 9, approximately 30 Collective staffers were handed pink slips today after the studio was summarily pulled off the project.
Though a Foundation 9 spokesperson declined to comment on Dirty Harry's status, she did say an effort to "optimize" its suite of internal studios had led to staffing changes. "When this optimization leads to job loss at one studio, we make every effort to find a place for displaced employees at another of our studios," said the rep. "Foundation 9 is currently hiring for 40 positions in our studios across North America and is still in a state of growth with more than 30 projects in development."
The aforementioned source also told GameSpot the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment team managing the project had "been dissolved." However, newly installed WBIE senior vice president Samantha Ryan appeared to have a strong hand on the helm, proclaiming that a Dirty Harry game will be released...eventually.
"We are moving forward with the Dirty Harry next generation videogames and will be changing our development plans in keeping with the best interest of the franchise legacy," Ryan said in a statement. "WBIE is dedicated to creating a game that will bring Clint Eastwood's legendary Detective Harry Callahan character to the interactive space with a new story and great gameplay."
Ryan's other job as CEO of WBIE-owned Monolith Productions (F.E.A.R., Condemned) raises the prospect that her studio may take up the reins of Dirty Harry development. A source close to WBIE did confirm that the game is "transitioning" to another shop but did not disclose where the project was going.
They should set the game up at Rockstar. Now that'd be a Dirty Harry game worth playing. 8)

Thanks for that. And yeah that'd be cool.
By the way, who made those Dirty Harry/joker/the mask pics?
-
I made the Joker picture and another member, Agent, made The Mask pic.
-
Oh cool. I'm no good at that kind of stuff but I get curious. How'd you make that, what you use?
-
Not sure about Agent (though I assume he used it too) but I used Adobe Photoshop.
-

Yes, Photoshop and ImageReady for the animated one.
-
Ah, cool.
The Mask one reminds me of the villain from the movie.
-
There is limited info about this, I have read stuff on IMDB and would like to know if anyone has info on release date, game types etc.
-
Bigtimefan, I've merged your post into the existing thread on this game. (Thanks to Conan for pointing us to the older thread.)

The Collective, the company that was making it, is not anymore so the project is up in the air, if it ever gets made. Warners has said, however, that they still want to make it.
-
Has anyone heard anything regarding the Dirty Harry Video Game first reported by in 2005?
-
Here is the latest news...It appears to be delayed, at the very least.

Thanks, Conan!
And thanks for your question, jeffwerrnes. I merged your post into this older thread about this project. :)

I hope Clint will be still interested in the project by the time they'll make up their minds or else the dream will become a nightmare.

I was just wondering about this.
Too bad. I looked forward to it.
Sounds like it's still a "someday" at least...

Glenny, the link you posted is over a year old. Brendan already posted it in this thread:

I don't see any reason to start a new topic to cover this "old news," so I've merged your thread into the exiisting one. :)

My God... ::)
Where the hell have I been?! ???
-
That really sucks.
-
Yeah, the game's been CANCELED, but...
http://www.unseen64.net/2008/04/29/dirty-harry-x360ps3-cancelled/
at least, they put up more pictures from the game.
I don't think we've seen the last of the video game though.
-
The trailer they have posted on that link above is really cool. Any word on why they cancelled it?
And I'd agree, there's always a chance they'll pick it back up again.
-

The company was going out of business. My guess is that another developer has the rights to the game, so yeah there is a chance.

Don't get excited everyone I just wanted to put some screen shots up from this Video Game. A very cool idea indeed...

Found some more screen shots and a recent article. Damn this game looked great!!
From The Article:
"The more I think about this “lost” game, the more I want to weep. It has awesome written all over it. Well potentially. Okay, at least conceptually. But like whether Kurt Russell survived in the end of The Thing (not a spoiler by the way, as you should have seen it by now), we will simply never know.
What? There are some of you who didn’t know there was a planned Dirty Harry video game? Well there was. Let us sit of the floor, crossed legged and lament what could have been.
Simply titled Dirty Harry, the game was to be developed in association with Clint Eastwood’s Malpaso and The Collective Inc to be published via Warner Interactive. The idea was that the game would continue the story of loose-cannon police detective “Dirty Harry” Callahan as he sought to clean up the streets of San Francisco. The events where to take place immediately after the “Scorpio” case. Clint Eastwood was reprise his role as the character in the game, lending his voice and likeness as well as consulting and creative input to the game. The game was scheduled to be released in 2007.
It all sounds very interesting and it is easy to imagine a finished game that had elements of GTA and the FPS genre. At the time several other classic film franchises were being developed into games of a comparable nature, with both critical and financial success. The Godfather, The Warriors and Scarface are but a few examples.
So what went wrong? Why did this game never reach the consoles or the PC? Well there were apparently some internal problems with the developers and staff got laid off, allegedly. Warner Bros. pulled the studio off the project and claimed that work was being transferred to another studio. Nothing has been heard about the game since, prompting realists to believe that the project has been cancelled and the overly optimistic to dream that it may still emerge one day.
So the trailer and a smattering of screenshots and production art is all that really survives from this lost game. It is obvious that quite a substantial amount of development had gone in to the project. Please note that the trailer does not actually show any footage from the game engine. It was animated by a production house, using the concept artwork to simulate what the game may have ended up like. However, you will notice that it is very much in the idiom of the screenshots which are in-game footage.
So there, you go. The story of the lost Dirty Harry game. It would seem that not only does a man have to know his limitations, but so does a game developer."

To all the true fans, It looks as though the game is not going to happen. Alas, there is always Dirty Harry pinball. I have been looking for a reasonably priced refurbish for some time now and haven't had any real luck. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction. This pinball machine is at the top my "probably never going to have but darn it I'm gonna try" list. Think Clint might spare one? He's gotta have few laying around that he might want to "'donate" to some of his loyal fans.
Can somebody make my day? Regards, Chef Matt in Mass.
-
Good luck, chefmatt! Every time I've seen one of those Dirty Harry pinball machines (on eBay, if I recall right), they have been really, really expensive.
-
There was also a Dirty Harry game for NES that came out a long time ago. Obviously the graphics are "dated" to put it nicely.

That pinball game was fun. Yea as KC says Ebay is your best bet, though you would probably be limited to somewhere within driving distance.
-
I was curious to know what happened, and then I read on Wikipedia that the development company that was working on the game was listed as "defunct". Apparently it went under in '07. Too bad, it looked promising...
-
This article explains pretty much what happened.
Make My Day
Announced on February 24, 2005, Dirty Harry was a video-game based on the movie. Warner Bros. Interactive broke the announcement and explained that they would be working alongside Clint Eastwood, the house-hold name who bought the infamous lead character to fame in the 1971 film, as well as Eastwoods own Malpaso and The Tehama Companies. Eastwoods involvement was explained as that of a creative consultant, as well as voice actor of the legendary cop.

Here is some information I found about the companies involved with the development of the game.
Shiny Entertainment
California-based game development studio, founded in 1993. Shiny turned heads with its first game, Earthworm Jim, which later spawned a Marvel comic book and a syndicated cartoon series on TV. In 1996, Shiny entered the PC market and produced the highly successful MDK for Interplay.
On October 2, 2006, Foundation 9 Entertainment -- the largest independent game developer in North America -- announced that it acquired the non-game assets of Shiny Entertainment Studio from Atari, Inc. in an acquisition funded by Foundation 9's investment from Francisco Partners.
Shiny Entertainment merged with The Collective in October of 2007 (since both studios were under the Foundation 9 umbrella) and now the single combined studio operates under a new name.

Since articles on this game are so few and far between I thought it necessary to at least acknowledge this one.
