A number of video clips have been posted lately on the board ... and I noticed that we didn't have a thread for videos :o :D So there. Practical and time-saving.
And to inaugurate the new thread ...
Charlie Rose (Jan 14, 2005) "An Hour with Clint Eastwood" (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=727251948521586728&q=clint+eastwood+charlie+rose&hl=en) --> Million Dollar Baby

Lots of cool clips on this page (http://60minutes.yahoo.com/segment/10/clint_eastwood) -follow Clint on the golf course, in his helicopter, and listen to what the two women in his life have to say about him

Did you notice how in this clip they happen to zoom on Clint right when Julia Roberts says "And the Oscar goes to ..." Strange coincidence ^-^

Looks like Clint and Dina are taking some down time. Very short video clip up at Splash News in the Video Section. It was taken at a distance though so not a real clear video. (Clip will be on the third row down but the clips rotate quickly so it won't be there for long. Click on the "guest" archive.)

It isn't unusual for the cameras at awards ceremonys to rehease the where abouts of at least the nominees.

Hi folks,
I´m new here and I´m a big fan of the old so called tough guys like Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen or Lee Marvin etc....
Recently, I visited the website www.youtube.com and I discovered a video in which Clint Eastwood got a "Lifetime Achievement Award. That was in 1986 when his movie "Heartbreak Ridge" just came out.
During this video (it takes 4 Minutes) his daughter Allison and his son Kyle were introducing their father. Clint came up from backstage and shook hands with some people in the audience.
One of them was Charles Bronson. Clint discovered Charlie, greets him with the words "How you´re doing?" and Bronson responded "Congratulations". That was so great to see these two tough guys shaking hands with each other...
Take a look and watch the video:
www.youtube.com - All Star Tribute for Clint Eastwood.
There are two videos about the event. One video is about Sammy Davis Jr. saying kind remarks about Clint. The other video is about the event which I just told you.......
-
Under the link is only one video.
www.youtube.com -Clint Eastwood and James Stewart
Then you will get both videos of the show!!! :)

Thanks, Mr. Pacino, and welcome to the Eastwood Web Board! 8)
The specific YouTube links are:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3FLPjDoL-4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHGxr7V4AOA
This tribute has come up a few times in discussions here ... it is the only time, as far as I know, that Clint Eastwood's sister Jeanne appeared with him in public. She is sitting at Clint's table with Clint's kids from his first marriage, Sondra Locke, and Clint's mother. I think the gentleman with her must be her husband.
-
I think that I might have viewed that when it aired. I had thought that I saw a salute to Clint on his birthday many years ago in the mid 80's but this might have been it.
-
Thank you Mr. Pacino I am going to click on the link right after I say hello and welcome.
-
Sorry I should have watched the videos first before I posted. Not only Charles Bronson but I love the way Sammy Davis sang Misty. Another good movie "Play Misty For Me" !!
Thx again..
Also a question for anyone. At the end of the second video where Sammy sang, he introduced Jimmy Stewart. Does anyone know if that part of that tribute to Clint is on you tube anywhere? I would have loved to have heard it. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the speech Jimmy Stewart gave to Clint isn´t on youtube. But hopefully very soon.......

Cool vids O0
I love seeing new stuff. I wish someone had recorded all these docs and ceremonies -which we'll probably never get to see again broadcast on TV, and then put them on YouTube.
Can I add something? *...............* Eastwood is absolutely handsome :P
-
I'm watching this now. It's brand new on YouTube. It's Clint interviewing Ray Charles. Pretty cool.
Anyone know when this is from? I'm guessing not long before RC passed away, maybe '03 or '04?

(wait after the first one is over because there is another segment, "the early years", also 2 minutes long)
It's mostly stuff that's been talked about over and over again, but this being said, it includes footage (notably from interviews) that I had never seen before.

Nice, though I could have sworn they said Bird was from 1980 (should be 1988). And he was drafted into the army in 1951, not 1950.

This isn't a Clint video, but this seems like the place to put this. Here's an interview I found with Dina. It's about some skin care product & she's not in it until about four minutes in. She mentions Clint once.
I think I've only seen one other interview with her, at the Oscars a long time ago.

These are nothing major, but I figured this would be the best place to post them, being that they are Clint Eastwood videos. :)

Lets kickstart this thread again.
Its great to see all these little gems.
How about this one......Clint doing a helicopter saftey short. Super cool as usual.
Made by the FAA, its pretty dated now, going by the terrible background music, I`d hazard a guess at the late 80`s.
Remember.........ALWAYS check your fuel gauge.

I 've been checking Youtube over the years for this and it's finally been posted.
Evidently I haven't checked in awhile since it was posted last January.
Anyway, if it's already been posted here somewhere, my apologies. If not, watch it quickly as it may be pulled over "copyright" issues. So many things are on Youtube.
These are pretty hilarious actually.

Now this one would be a dream come true not only for the director but for all of us
Joe Carnahan’s Sizzle Reel for defunct Gemini Man Project with Clint Eastwood
Over the summer, Joe Carnahan released two sizzle reels – one PG-13, and one NC-17 – for his pitch for a Daredevil movie. Sadly, the clock ran out on the project, with the rights reverting from Fox back to Marvel, and the sizzle reels are set to be all we’ll ever see of Carnahan’s take on the comic book hero.
The writer/director has now put out a reel for a different project he’d been hoping to work with alongside Jerry Bruckheimer at Disney, and his pitch included the ever-brilliant Clint Eastwood in the lead.
Splicing together clips from other films (with a great shot of Frasier’s John Mahoney opposite Eastwood in In the Line of Fire), the sizzle reel is an interesting look at what could have been.
“Sizzle reel for a defunct movie project that I was interested in doing with Bruckheimer at Disney. I was really fired up to work with one of my heroes: CLINT. That was the big reason why I put this reel together.”
It appears Gemini Man won’t be arriving on the big screen any time soon, but here’s Carnahan’s pitch, to give you an idea of how it could have looked. Enjoy.

Hello again JSE, nice to see you back here again.
Thanks for sharing the links. Both really good, I had not seen any of them before.
Have you came across a "Making of" The Gauntlet on your travels?
-
Hi Davy,
I've not seen the Making of The Gauntlet either, I'm still keeping an eye out for anything I haven't got...I'll have to get around to posting a complete list of what I have that isn't available on DVD for trading. Recently found a copy of that 'At Home With Clint Eastwood' short on tape which I've converted to DVD. The quality isn't great as I guess someone took it from the 16mm but it is good to have a copy anyway, especially Clint in 1970!

Hi Davy,
I've just noticed that there is a 60 minute DVDR someone is selling called Behind the Scenes: Volume 4 that apparently contains behind the scenes of the making of:
Emporer of the North, The Train Robbers, Mc Q, Magnum Force, The Gauntlet, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Class of 44 and Dog Day Afternoon
I've emailed and asked if they know how long the making of segment for The Gauntlet is so will let you know what they come back with. Have you seen this one before?

Thanks JSE,

That Gauntlet video was great. I think this generation forgets how rare it was to see behind the scenes footage such as this. Check Clint out, running into the fire to save a camera O0
The Gauntlet takes a lot of stick but i love it and always have. This video has just put me in the mood to watch it again. Why oh why aren't these little gems part of DVD/Bluray releases ?

Here's a good video of Clint receiving the People's Choice award for "Favorite Motion Picture Actor" 1987.
Clint was of course Mayor of Carmel at the time so couldn't attend the award show so he is in Carmel receiving it...what he says 20 seconds in made me laugh a lot!

^ It's addressed to a lamb! ;D
-
Yeah! What tickled me was the laughter behind the camera and Clint then having to keep a straight face. A nice moment.

I just made this video to illustrate my final project in college.
is about the persona of Clint Eastwood.
It contains several passages and clichés of his films.

'The Man with No Name': Watch a 1977 Documentary About One of Cinema's Greatest Characters
The Man with No Name” started as a studio invention to sell a trilogy — three spaghetti Westerns starring Clint Eastwood, directed by Sergio Leone — but the character became a legend. It was a role that brought Eastwood to fame, making him an icon of American masculinity. Eastwood’s portrayal brought a morally ambiguous hero to the big screen for the first time in the genre — a soft-spoken tough guy who was an outsider and loner, but thought nothing of shooting first and asking questions later.
We learn more about the man behind the gun in this 1977 BBC documentary, presented by Iain Johnstone, which features interviews with Eastwood (in his backyard, petting a freaking deer). Director Leone also makes an appearance, discussing the casting of Eastwood’s character. Leone initially wanted James Coburn for the role — he later directed the actor in films like Duck, You Sucker! — but the budget for A Fistful of Dollars (the first film in the trilogy) didn’t cut it.
Leone says he saw the Man with No Name as a purely physical figure, and was drawn to Eastwood’s “indolent way of moving.” For Leone, Eastwood resembled a cat. There are a few great moments in this hour-long doc, which we first spotted on Dangerous Minds. Throw on some Morricone, and dig in for a look at the strong, silent man behind one of cinema’s greatest characters.

Wonderful. It also reveals that at one point the film's working title was "Ray el Magnifico."

I would like to share a link, which will lead you to a dialogue between Richard Schickel and Clint Eastwood, in September 1990 at Walker Art Center, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
That dialogue was audio recorded. They talked about Clint Eastwood career. White Hunter Black Heart was about to be released in the USA.
I am not sure that it is the right place to post it, since it is not a video:

Since it's on YouTube, even though it's audio only (like a lot of stuff that gets onto YouTube), I guess this is the place! Thanks for sharing that, Hocine. This was a major interview, and I don't think I've ever heard it.

Here is a link in which you can find a documentary in English version: "The Secret Album of Clint Eastwood"
It was released in 2013 on French TV and it was based on the unofficial biography of Clint by Patrick McGilligan

Hello everyone,
Here is a video in which Clint gave an interview in Paris, France, while promoting Tightrope and receiving a tribute from the French cinematheque, which organized a retrospective of his films, from December 1984 to January 1985. Just some months before he came at Cannes Film Festival, to present Pale Rider.
In that interview, they talked about a possible collaboration between Clint and director Jean-Luc Godard.
That was a funny and strange interview, isn't it ?

Very strange in places but Clint looks relaxed.. thanks for posting 👍
-
Definitely a strange interview. Even before it begins, the music and the framing of the video before he sits down is odd. I noticed something about the interview that I've noticed many times before. Most of the time Eastwood does appear relaxed, but when he is asked questions he isn't anticipating, that he doesn't really know how he should respond to, he appears uncomfortable and kind of says something very quickly hoping that it will result in the interviewer moving onto a different line of questioning.
I also find the whole theme of the interview to be a bit misguided. Why would the interviewer ask Eastwood to confirm a potential interest in working with this particular French director, and even go so far as to ask him to describe the film and whether he would plan to produce it, etc? It seems to me that unless the details have been announced as confirmed, that Eastwood would likely take a lot of meetings, many of which may occur for projects that never end up being made, so the focus on that speculative, potential project I didn't really understand.
-
Actually, that interview was made for a French TV show called Cinema, Cinemas, which was aired from 1982 to 1991.
I was too young to remember it but that show was particularly appreciated by cinema lovers.
In fact, many people from film industry were interviewed. That show was also about the technical jobs of filmmaking.
When I saw the Clint interview for the first time, it seemed a little austere and quirky to me. Or maybe half parodic. But that was the style of that show, I guess. What I find interesting about that interview is the fact Clint said that he preferred directing than acting: today, it would not be surprising. But in 1985, Clint was still a major box office star in America. Of course, Clint was already ambitious as a director, at that point of his career.
The weirdest thing about that interview is obviously the questions on that film project with Jean-Luc Godard.
By the way, I have read nothing about it. Anyway, the Clint biographies did not mention a potential film between the two men. Godard, who passed away some weeks ago, seemed to admire Clint, more as an actor than as a director. Godard even dedicated one of his films, Detective (1985), to Clint. He also presented an honorary Cesar (the French Oscars) to Clint in 1998. When presenting the Cesar, Godard told Clint: be yourself, Mr Honkytonk Man.

Hello everyone,
I would like to share this 2022 documentary on Clint, which is made for Arte, a French-German channel TV.
It is called Clint Eastwood, the Last Legend. Though the narration is in French, many parts are in English.
That video is available until March 19, 2023.

I was looking forward to watching this, but I live in the U.S. and unfortunately, when I try to watch this, it says that it cannot be viewed from here. Hocine, do you have a link that might work for the U.S. I think it may be blocked here :( Has anyone found a workaround that can be used?
-
Hello AKA23,
I am sorry about that.
I have consulted the FAQs of the Arte TV website: it says that if Arte TV has the broadcasting rights of a video in a foreign country, then the video can be viewed from that country, from the Arte TV website: www.arte.tv
You can try it. If it is not available, I hope that the documentary will be broadcast someday in the States.
I have to say that the documentary is pretty good, though the diehard fans will not learn something new.
If you have seen many films, many other documentaries and read many books on Clint, then the documentary will look very familiar to you.

Thanks for the link :)
That said one has to admit that this doc is probably the worst one ever about Mr Eastwood.
It's really laughable the way they narrate another -probably public domain or at least cheap enough- previous effort on the same subject.
Seriously now ?
