General Discussion / Re: In the Line of Fire and Space Cowboys

I think that I saw it as an excuse to get all these old actors together and that is why I did not enjoy the film as much as I probably should.  I tend to dislike star studded films cause sometimes it seems like they use the famous names to sell the film and because of this take a break on the script.  Don't get me wrong I did not dislike the film I was just dissappointed with it.

General Discussion / In the Line of Fire and Space Cowboys
« on: June 04, 2005, 11:24:28 PM »
TNT was showing In the Line of Fire followed by Space Cowboys Saturday.  I had never seen it before, but aside from it being fullscreen and a TV edit I really liked it.  I think Clint showed how good his acting abilities really are in the film. Especially in his dialogue with Rene Russo near the first.  Like I said I really enjoyed it.  Space Cowboys on the other hand I was dissapointed with.  I felt that the script was lacking, and aside from Tommy Lee Jones and Clint Eastwood I thought the other acting was kinda bad.  So let me know what you think of either film.

As for replicas Uberti makes some of the best.  I also recomend them.  They are reliable and not to expensive.

Clint Eastwood Westerns / Re: I did it. [I saw Unforgiven]

I think that Unforgiven portrayed the old west  accurately.  I doubt people back then really cared how PC their language  was.  One of the reasons I liked the movie so much was because of the gritty realism that it portraid.

Clint Eastwood Westerns / Re: Best Showdown
« on: January 07, 2005, 04:43:51 PM »
GBU is my favorite, but I also like FAFDM and FOD.  I think one that stands out though is Unforgiven, it's not exactly a shoot out, but I've always thought of it as a showdown between Little Bill and Will Munny.  I think the emotional power of Clint in that scene is just amazing, so I always consider that one of the best.

I agree.  The emotion used by William Munny at the end of Unforgiven is awsome, and is what makes the showdown so good.  It is definitely one of my favorite showdowns.

People like Wyatt Earp were not angels back in the old west.  I'd wager that  Little Bill was a so called law man but most likely he was corrupt to a level. I'm not really sure though.

I didn't like open range either, but I did like Tombstone.
I do however appreciate the fact that Duvall gave a great performance and tried. It's just Kevin Costner sucks. I dare say that ,in my opinion, Costner could destroy most any movie .....Ever!
