It would be such a shame if it didn't continue and I wasn't aware of exactly how popular it has been since i left. To me it was always a very full and detailed place to come for questions and discussions of all sizes.
I will try and stop by more, as i said to the kind member who informed me of the sad news today, I didn't leave under any kind of cloud, I just felt i had given everything I could to the board.
I would certainly hate to stop by only to find it wasn't here anymore.

Good evening everyone,
I was informed of this very sad news earlier today and have returned tonight to pass on my condolences.
As some of you may know I was a fully contributing member for many years from the boards earliest days and focused on the technical side of Mr Eastwood's work.
Kathie was always fair and decent to me, even when I could be described as err ..... difficult. I always respected that and i feel the respect was mutual.
Her knowledge was vast and she soaked up topics such as aspect ratios and sound mixes like a sponge.
I do stop by now and again but want to wish everyone who posts the very best at this difficult time, the board will continue but a mine of information has sadly been taken away.
Thankfully her archive of posts remain and she will continue to live on through those posts and the continued help they will give to new members eager to learn ..... Everything Eastwood.

Love to all

Philo

Thank you so much.
Slightly later stopping by this year but it always touches me that you continue to wish me well.
Sadly I don't feel I can stop by here ever again as I'm afraid I know virtually nothing about Scott Eastwood!!
Lol
Best to every member of this fine board.

Well I'm not here all that often but do like to stop by for a quick catch up from time to time.
I'm sorry to hear this too and will drop Lin an email as we have lost touch (apart from a brief hello on here a while back)
Best to everyone
Philo.

Wow!!
That is real touching that you bothered to do a thread for me.
I'm still around and have just popped by to see what's new.
I originally left the board, not for any bad reason, I just felt that I had said and contributed all I could.
I've now stopped by two days running and perhaps I'll be on here a little more.
My collection keeps going but have been in a very special relationship for a year and a half and that takes you to different places in life and even ...... collecting!!
Great to see the board going from strength to strength
Love to you all
Philo xx.

Great to see that footage.
Hope you are all doing well.

General Discussion / Re: Eiger Sanction DVD

I just want to confirm everything that KC said.
Full screen versions .... It took us years to get rid of them.

Widescreen is essential for the correct composition of Mr Eastwood's films.

This the hardback edition that I have from 1975

It has a message from Clint inside the paper cover stating he liked this book so much it is going to be his next motion picture.

Is this a first edition under the "Gone to Texas" title.

Yes I have one of these to and they are very rare.
The scene with Doc and his fingers was cut by a few frames to get the film the lower "AA" certificate. I have a billing that also lists it as coming soon and passed "X".

CIC (The films UK distributor) obviously had some posters sent out early before the change.

This is only the third one I have seen over the years.

Good luck to whoever gets it.

Clint Eastwood Westerns / Re: josey wales remake
« on: June 23, 2009, 03:54:52 PM »
Perhaps. But I'm sure Clint wouldn't want to be the one to do it.

Did Orson Welles ever consider remaking Citizen Kane?

No he did those sherry commercials instead !!

Lin ....
I couldn't have put it better myself.
and with all the money it costs to do, that is the HD version the world is now stuck with.

Thanks for the best wishes

Thanks KC,
The way the job market is, I will need it !!

Seriously though I am not leaving in need of another full time job, so anything part time would be fine.
This is sort of semi early retirement for me.

Sorry this is off topic

Let's get this out of the way, no need to lock the thread, the faces haven't been smoothed over with cosmetic surgery  ;D

Has anyone else seen this release yet?

I hate it when they overdo the noise reduction.

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDReviews45/good_bad_and_the_ugly_blu-ray.htm

Yes here they go again.
People who do not understand how a motion picture should look.
Do not waste your time on this blue ray edition if it has been over noise reduced.
When are they going to hire someone to oversee these transfers to make sure the life of the film image is retained. I will spell this out in capitals ....
DON'T REMOVE THE FILM GRAIN, IT IS ITS LIFE AND IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE !!!
I have stopped shouting now
These films more than any other will suffer, when the cheaper Techniscope process was used the trade off was film grain. To try and remove it literally kills the film and it then looks like a soft mess.

I might as well share with you what Lin already knows .... In just over a week I am leaving the BBC after 24 years. I am currently working on my CV/resume. I will be sending it to every studio and post production company in the US I can think of.
I hope someone hires me !!
