Philo,

I'm with you--they should fire the #$!!@&%%$ idiot who put the DIRTY HARRY pic on the back of TIGHTROPE. That is a major league mistake in my book.

I like to think that I am a detail-oriented person who knows a bit about Clint's films,  and since I have been recently laid off as a technical writer, I just happen to be available.  

Has anyone contacted the studio, or have we given this up as a lost cause?

Thanks for answering, guys, and sorry it took me so long to reply.

I'm trying to explain to my piano teacher the type of music I'd like to play, and I thought I could let him hear the slow, melodic "phrasings" that I feel Clint played in some movie. It's not from the films you mentioned, though. Maybe I'm completely dreaming it, but I remember him playing something pretty that didn't necessarily sound like any recognizable song. I'll keep looking. Thanks again!

What about TRUE CRIME? Anyone remember piano in there?

Hello All!

I'm trying to remember the films where Clint plays the piano. I know he plays in IN THE LINE OF FIRE and HONKYTONK MAN, but I feel he plays a couple of times in other movies (not necessarily a recognizable song, but just kind of putting some phrases together and making nice sounds).

If not a movie, do you remember him playing in a documentary or interview? I know he played on EASTWOOD AFTER HOURS  and the "Eastwood On Music" piece that was on VH-1 some time ago. Anything else come to mind?

Walt,

I guess I'd have to say my absolute favorite Clint item is my Dirty Harry pinball machine.  The combination of the cool graphics, clever game design and Clint's own voice makes one awesome game.

I also have a personalized photo of Clint that my aunt obtained for me which is also special to me.

Lastly, I also have a bunch of stuff (T-shirts, hats, etc.) that I obtained when I visited Clint's Mission Ranch in Carmel. While not rare, the items are special to me and bring back some wonderful memories.

Van Peebles' "performance" is the main reason I don't watch HEARTBREAK RIDGE more than once or twice a year.

I always start out like, "Gee, this isn't bad at all. What was I thinking?"

And then once Van Peebles starts getting screen time, it all goes downhill. The singing scene is particularly pitiful.

It bothers me too that Clint could have fixed this and evidently thought it wouldn't hurt the movie.

Clintfan:  What is your least favorite Eastwood movie and why?

THE ROOKIE and CITY HEAT are my two least favorites, and of the two, I'd have to say that CITY HEAT wins. It's just so bad from beginning to end. Bad writing, bad acting, etc. I know they were capitalizing on the popularity of both Eastwood and Reynolds, but this was just the wrong vehicle for it.

As I think you said earlier, "It's the one Eastwood film I can regularly pass up without stopping to watch." (I own it, I just don't like it much.)

At the moment, I can't come up with a question to "tag" someone with. Please forgine me!

Clintfan: Can you name one piece of Clint memorabilia you'd like to own, but have never managed to "score"?

Well, there are any number of things, but there's a plastic surgeon/sculptor on the web who has made a larger-than-life bust of Clint, and I'd like one of 'em. Where to put it--and what to tell my wife--are just two of the problems I run into whenever I give this serious thought.

Philo: If there was one Clint film you could completely re-do the video/audio for, which would it be?

I HIGHLY recommend getting the CD and DVD (whenever possible in your region). The lineup of jazz greats, both young and old, who gathered to pay tribute to Clint and his career is simply astounding. More people need to be exposed to their fabulous music in order to keep jazz from dying a slow death.

There's great music from a lot of Clint's films, Clint himself plays a bit at the end, and KC looks absolutely stunning in her evening gown. Who could ask for more?

If I'm right, there was a Headliners and Legends episode about Eastwood back in November, and McGilligan was brought in quite a bit to make comments about Clint's life and career. The show didn't Clint-bash as blatantly as the book does, but to me, the show was definitely slanted toward McGilligan's take on Clint. I only caught the last 30 minutes, though. If it's ever on again, could someone give a shout?

Well, I did my part and bought Blood Work this morning. I had to argue with the girl at Best Buy, though. She said that all new releases come out on Tuesday. (Now, I'm thinking, "Don't tell me what day a Clint movie comes out, lady" but I didn't say it.) I asked her to humor me and check on their computer system. Sure enough, it was in there, and she went to the stockroom and brought out the case of Blood Work DVDs, as they were not on the shelf yet.

I think Warners messed up (yet again) by releasing it on a Friday. I saw a few TV ads, but I bet most people are unaware that it's available. Where do you submit a resume to the Marketing Dept. at Warners? Marketing is not my background, but I bet I couldn't do a worse job of making decisions.

Go out and buy it today!

That would leave about 8 pages, Vik! The end papers, the frontispiece, the dedication, and the end papers! Everything else, well....

I believe that in an interview Clint said something like, "I've been around so long that people have pretty much made up their minds about me. I don't have to prove anything to anyone."

At the time I think he was talking about one of his movies, but I'm sure the idea carries over to his personal life as well.

I bet St. Martin's Press is regretting their decision right about now.

I hope Clint wins!

McGilligan's book is a piece of crap. I've had it over a year and I'm still only halfway through it. It's nothing but a smear job, and McGilligan finds fault with everything Clint does. (To exxagerate just a bit--If it was a known fact that Clint preferred a certain brand of ketchup, McGilligan would pounce on that and go to great lengths to explain how that was the selfish choice and how Clint has always chosen the ketchup that was best for him, totally disregarding the ketchup preferences of his family and friends.)

I don't know about 10 million, but I sure hope Clint gets something, just to teach the guy some manners.

I doubt the book has hurt Clint; I feel he regards it as "pesky" and an unnecessary distraction.
