The Dirty Harry Films / Re:One more Dirty Harry Film
« on: April 29, 2004, 05:21:50 PM »
I hate to say it, but the chance of Clint starring in another Dirty Harry movie is about as likely as Paramount bringing back Kirk or Elvis returning for another comeback.  As Clint (Frank) said in the "In The Line Of Fire" ad, "That ain't gonna happen."  Still, it would be great to have Callahan come out of retirement to solve another homicide.

Didn't take you long-I'll have to think of tougher ones.  I believe when one of his marines tells Gunny he doesn't want to die (or not to let another man die), Gunny's response is, "That's not up to me."

Looks like I need to watch Hang 'Em High again!  :-[ No problem about not responding last night-"forgetaboutit".  Allrighteethen, here it is: "When's the last time you saw chickensh*t Jim-Bob, when you were shavin' this mornin'?"

I reckon so.  Ok, Cooper was telling one of the men at his hanging that he didn't hold him responsible.  Jed caught up with a few men at a house and the old man attempted to hang himself; Jed brought him back and convinced the judge to pardon him. Cool beans?

Clint Eastwood Westerns / Re:Josey Wales vs. Unforgiven
« on: April 28, 2004, 02:13:06 PM »
Howdy.  Funny, before Unforgiven, Wales was considered Clint's "masterpiece".  I love 'em both, favoring Unforgiven slightly because I was disappointed with Pale Rider.  Also, at the time Unforgiven was advertised, I'd become jaded after Clint's last 3 efforts ('Pink Cadillac', 'White Hunter, Black Heart' & 'The Rookie').  I thought, "Ok, that's the end of the line for Clint."  I'm glad to have been proven wrong time and again.  Another reason I favor Unforgiven is beause the overall quality (direction, production, photography and acting) is superior to Wales.  Still, both are among the greatest westerns of all time.

Ok, my question would be, "When will the rest of your filmwork be available on dvd?" (Rawhide, Francis In The Navy, Tarantula, Revenge Of The Creature, Lady Godiva, The Witches, Never Say Goodbye, Escapade In Japan, Ambush At Cimarron Pass, etc.-I'd probably get shot for even mentioning 'Ambush' because Clint hated that one!).  No doubt his response would be "Get a life!"

Hi KC, I'm stumped.  Also, I forgot to mention that Clint's talking on the phone when he says, "That's me at the door."

Ok, I guess this was tougher than I thought.  Here's a couple of clues; both are thrillers-the first one was released in the early '70s, the second in the late '90s.

General Discussion / Re: How'd you become a Clint fan?
« on: April 26, 2004, 05:54:28 PM »
I became a fan in the winter of '81; Clint's spaghetti westerns & Dirty Harry was on tv quite a bit and I became hooked.  I had already seen "Every Which Way...", "Escape From Alcatraz" & "Any Which Way..." with a friend of mine in the theatres; as much as I enjoyed those, I did't become a fan.  Since '81, though, it's become tradition for me to see every Clint movie possible (I've only missed "Honkytonk Man" & "Bird"-due to limited release).  My wife & I have carried this tradition on with "The Bridges Of Madison County" (how fitting our first Eastwood movie together would be a love story).  I have to admit to being jaded w/3 clunkers in a row; "Pink Cadillac", "White Hunter, Black Heart" & "The Rookie"- but was overjoyed when he bounced back with "Unforgiven".  I even remember joking with my friends after seeing the trailer, saying Clint was 'unforgiven' by Warner Bros. by those last 3 movies!
("White Hunter..." isn't all bad).  Ok, enough of my babbling!

I hope I'm not stepping on toes by taking another stab at this before hearing back from KC, but I won't be around again until Wednesday, so, my next guess is "True Crime".

I just discovered that Kay Lenz was nominated for a "New Star Of The Year" Golden Globe award for her potrayal of Breezy. (That's Alice Edith Breezerman)

I'll have to take another look at that scene for the sunglasses.  In the meantime, if anybody can verify whether Kyle was in this movie, I'd appreciate it (it's the scene where Holden takes Lenz shopping).
Agent-I like your Gauntlet quote-good one!

I hope nobody's thought of this one yet; name the 2 movies in which Clint said, "That's me at the door."
