Eastwood News / Re: Donald Sutherland has died at 88
« on: June 21, 2024, 09:52:13 AM »
Donald Sutherland was such a great actor. I love him in Kelly's Heroes and he was good in Space Cowboy too.

Gant, I haven't seen Don't Look Now but I always hear that's good. I need to check that out. I just watched him in Klute last year and liked that a lot. I enjoyed him in the Hunger Games movies too. And of course there's the original movie version of M*A*S*H.

I wouldn't call it one of his best, but I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer just a few days ago. It'd been years since I'd seen it. I like the movie, and I think Sutherland is one of the best parts about it playing the guy who trains Buffy to be a slayer.

Can Richard be reached? I haven't seen him on here in a while. Is the administrator usually over both boards?

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: What Was The Last DVD You Bought ?

I've posted a couple times about orders I've made from the Disney Movie Club. Disney recently shut down the club, so they had some sales that I took advantage of. Here were my last two orders from the month of May.

The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2
Night at the Museum
The Hustler
Wreck-It Ralph
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I still haven't seen J. Edgar or Richard Jewell. I do have a DVD of J. Edgar though. It would be fun to watch back through all of these, actually. I've only seen a few of these once. But just looking over the list, I might say Letters from Iwo Jima is my favorite. I'd have to go with 15:17 to Paris as my least favorite.

I haven't been on there in a long time. Not sure if my account is still on there.

Who is the administrator of this board?

I did pull a couple box sets out but didn't get to any of them today. I have that A&E Biography DVD that you mentioned before too.

Happy birthday to Clint!

That's an interesting mix of movies, Rawhide! I don't have anything planned right now, but maybe I'll pull something out soon.

Has anyone ever noticed the dog ( Meathead ) changes sex during Sudden Impact ?
I hadnt but I heard it mentioned in a podcast recently..
Is that when the dog is hurt? I don't think I've ever noticed the difference because the shot is kind of quick, but I wonder if it's meant that the dog is castrated. It's been a while since I've seen Sudden Impact, so I might have to pull that one out soon.

Some film critics thought that Jersey Boys would have been a better fit for Martin Scorsese, since it is about some Italian American guys which were linked to the mob. Even Joe Pesci was in the story.
That would have been interesting. I enjoyed Jersey Boys when I saw it years ago, but a Scorsese version would have been fun, I think.

Wow, I wouldn't have expected the movie to get a rating so soon. I wonder when this is going to be released.

It was 10 years ago today that my wife and I saw Jersey Boys on Broadway.  8) 8) 8)
That's cool!

I was browsing the selections on Max recently and came across Jersey Boys, and I was surprised to see that it's been nearly 10 years since this movie came out! :o I never bought a copy of the movie, so maybe I'll watch it again while I have Max.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Solar eclipse, August 21, 2017

I was curious if anyone had written anything on the board about the recent total solar eclipse that happened a few weeks ago. I didn't remember seeing anything on here, but I did a search for it anyhow and found this thread.

I'm amazed at my last post here--I have no memory of this whatsoever! :o :D :idiot2: ;D

I was able to use a welder's helmet to view it for a little bit, but then the clouds came in.

Gruv does have a date now for the American Sniper steelbook. It's set for May 14, 2024.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Tom Cruise to Remake The Gauntlet!!
« on: April 23, 2024, 06:31:00 PM »
I saw something in the news about this too. I guess it would be something that Tom Cruise does with Warner Bros. since he has a deal with them now. I like Tom Cruise, so I guess I'd be curious about it if he does end up doing this. I've always had some mixed feelings about The Guantlet, so I'd be interested in seeing what they did with it.
