Clint's own article for Parade (mentioned by KC on page 1) is now on line.

I don't believe this but that statue behind Tom Brokaw looks like an enlarged version of the bronze statue that we (The CEAS) (The Clint Eastwood Appreciation Society) had made and presented to Clint. I'm sure it is!
I'm going to contact Dave Turner the founder of the Society and see if he agrees with me  :o

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: 2006 Scorsese Film: The Departed

Just got back
I have to say I thought it was a terrific movie, pretty faultless performance by the cast and I wouldn't be surprised if Jack gets a nod when the nominations are announced.

I'm rarely disappointed after seeing a Scorsese movie and I'm not ashamed to admit, I think Di Caprio is maturing nicely as a top class actor. He certainly couldn't be in better hands.

A great two and a half hours.

That's OK KC no problem, and Yes I do have my friends permission.

Hello WKC, I think it certainly proves one thing which is that these people are certainly willing to help contribute to the projects. The real question of course is, are they ever asked?:(

52
Hello Richard, (I would guess) Highly unlikely it was Escape from Alcatraz  but there was quite a good and well respected film (made for TV) around that time in 1980 Alcatraz The Whole Shocking Story which featured Ed Leuter as Frank Morris, I seem to recall Telly Savalas also starred.

Escape from Alcatraz II (I like it)  ;)

I really wish I had known about it in advance Lin, I just switched over and it had just started.

Wondered if anyone saw this great episode on TV in the UK this week? The 2 presenters (and 1 extra) attempted the escape under the same conditions, using the same materials and everything else. The program also contained some really great original newsreel footage (pity it didn't make it to the DVD). The real dummy heads etc, really marvellous to watch AND they actually did make it to shore! Really glad I caught this.

When you quote someone, how are we to know it wasn't from a previously published article if you don't specify where you're quoting it from?

Hello Matt, and I take your point and one I perhaps did not consider at the time. I'm sorry again.

It wasn't necessary to seem annoyed in your response to her

Can I just be clear on this point, that at no time did I ever think I was coming across as "Annoyed"? I just re-read my original response to KC and I still cannot see where this could be deciphered. I was simply trying to explain myself. Sorry KC?

And I certainly was not being Sarcastic in apologising to the board, I was just trying to do what I believed to be right, I'm rather troubled by this.

Please do not misunderstand me.

I should of course also apologise to all board members.

Well I thought that rule was attributed to a piece that was previously published or posted elsewhere and not between two friends, one of whom I know would have no objections to me posting his personal review of the film. That just seemed a little long winded and frankly rather pointless.

(Actually with hindsight, I'm thinking it would in some way make it unique to this board) :-\

I did actually consider posting something like "I got this in an e-mail from Lee Pfeiffer" but after careful consideration I felt that it may be construed as being either "big-headed" or "Conceited" which I certainly didn't want, therefore I simply chose to post it fuss free, or so I initially thought.

Anyway, sorry it caused the board so much trouble.

Yes, so is Variety.

mary mary, please remember that we need a link for all quoted materials and make it as specific as possible. If your quote is from a print source, please give us that.

??? Er it's not, Lee is a close friend of mine, he emailed me when he got back from the special event, these are Lee's own words (hence the quote), I had edited it already, leaving out the more personal elements, such as
"By the time Janet and I went for an Ice Cream we didn't get home until 1.00am"
So I've tried being as specific as possible and that's why there is no link, other than that, I'm not sure what else I can do ???
