Off-Topic Discussion / Re:Five movies you HIGHLY recommend
« on: November 18, 2004, 10:52:55 AM »
This is a cool thread...much more light hearted than "name your fav movie" kinda threads, since you only have to name a few flicks that are good, and not scratch your head to know your favorites :P
So anyways, heres a few recommendations, and Ill try to get through without naming movies realted to bands (the doors, the wall, etc..)

1-The Hudsucker Proxy...Watched this recently, Its a pretty fun flick starring Tim Robbins and Paul Newman.Watch out for a few scenes feat. Bruce Campbell

2-Speaking Of Bruce...EVIL DEAD 1, 2 and 3 are always good to spice up a  dying party

3-I recently bought "The man from elysian films" starring Andy Garcia, james coburn And SIR mick jagger, and even though I had only bought it to satisfy my curiosity, beeing a rolling stones fan, I admit I was pleasantly surprised. Well crafted story, and yes, Jagger can act.

4-Clownhouse...Pretty decent horror flick by Victor DE SAlva (jeepers creepers) he actually went to jail after the movie for clowning around a bit too much with the 3 child stars but hey- a good flick nevertheless

5-Class of ''89..a pretty cheesy flick from..yeah from 1989, about a bunch of violent punks terrorizing a teacher at their school. the plot sounds corny but the fight scenes are good and the acting isnt that bad...I though it was rather enjoyable

6-Starsky and hutch(2004)-My fav movie of the year. STiller and Wilson are Hilarious together. This is great stuff

7-Cheech and chong's up in smoke- always a good movie to bring at a party :)

8-Signing in the rain. I love this movie and I uaually hate musicals so this means it's good stuff

9-Bowling for columbine/Fahrenheit 9/11-both good flicks no further comment

10-School of rock....So beautiful-I wish education was really like that :)

So here are my 10 (woops I doubled my share) recommendations, notice I tried to step away from both the horror genre and movies about bands so this is one huge step for me ;)

My personal fav...I dont know, maybe Jerry seinfeld :)
I like chris rock and martin lawrence also

Personnally, I think Adam Sandler is great.
I dont know why people keep putting him down...Of course his humour is not really smart or anything , but then its not meant to be that way. His movies are just light hearted comedies and if hes always playing the same lovable goof character, its because thats the way his fans like him.
I wish people would take art (movies, music whatever) more for what it is..accusing Adam sandler of not beeing funny because he's not intellectual enough is like saying Evil dead was a bad movie beacause its not realistic :-\

as for JIm Carrey..I watched man on the moon yesterday and its definately his best performance to me...I like him in a couple other flicks but I dont think I can sit through any of the Ace Ventura's

I like John stewart too

Questions & Answers / Re:RPG?

I think what he means is like to start a thread where all participating members would have to be online at the same time and then start off with a basic idea for a scenario thats clint related..everyone has a character and interacts with the others as that character...
all im saying is, it wouldnt take that much space...just a regular thread that would end up a bit longer than the usual and could be erased at the end of the game
Ive seen a lot of other boards do it..it wouldnt be too complicated

But if it happens/im probably not in  :P
Never liked role playing games much

im just saying it wouldnt take as much space as you all seem to think... :)

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Quentin Tarantino
« on: October 06, 2004, 04:47:26 AM »
even though Ive only seen Pulp Fiction and the two Kill Bill's I must say I am a big fan of tarantino's work (from what ive seen of course... :))

Pulp fiction I though it was great although maybe a bit overrated but still great

Kill Bill volume 1 was simply awseome I liked pretty much everything about it
Kill Bill volume 2..I think I like it even better than the first. I find it deeper and more character-oriented and both those movies are sorta like modern day spaghetti westerns if you will with the over the top action and camera angles and all.

I usually do not like martial-arts type movies and stuff like that but kill bill has a genre of its own and I though it was just awesome :)

:othis thread is still going on?

I went to a friends house the other day and had to sit through a seagal movie (one I hadnt seen before)...this time it was half past dead...how was it?

Well lets say at the end I was half past dead bored  :-X

oh now I see a resemblance to eastwood-they both did a movie about alcatraz

 :P

no really..seagal is unbearable to me

almost went with true crime but I just had to go with ITLOF
I love that movie ;D

the US one sheet advance posters is actually one of the ugliest posters ive seen in a long time
no offence :-\

but as far as the other 4 , I really like all of them a lot

I think I like style A the best..awesome artwork

style B, I dont like it as much, a little too foggy to my taste, even if I know it was intended to be that way

Style C I like, but I think theres too much emphasis on the artilery and not enough on the actors, it makes it seem like a blow-em-up action movie, when its really more of a story-oriented movie

Style D is good, I like it a lot, but I wish they'd have shown bridges on there too..

so my vote goes to style A- great stuff

I loved Clint in that movie

I think t&b is in my ever changing top 5 eastwood flicks, and if not, well its in the top ten for sure

I would rather agree with Dina about clint beeing closer to robert kincaid, because...well...she should know better than me ;)

but apart from BOMC I would guess that TB is as close as seeing the real clint we ever came to onscreen, yes

he was even more laid back in that role, more relaxed and funny...

 as MGK said, very pleasant
indeed

I think bridges was perfect for this film :)

awesome acting, very convincing and natural, I like his high-pitched laugh, its funny.

I though he was awesome in the final scene and also in all the scenes interacting with geroge kennedy
hilarious

I saw him recently in k-pax (it took me a while to see this one because of the ridiculous name and awful cover) and I have to admit, I liked the movie a lot

bridges is definately a great actor
I guess the apple doesnt fall far from the tree :)
