Ah, Hardy Krueger ... or Krüger, as some of us prefer to spell it ... best known for obscure Euro art films, the kind I used to view catch as catch can in small cramped repertory theaters ... espresso in the lobby ... but he also worked in Hollywood occasionally, and almost every one of his English-language films that I clicked on had a Clint connection or two ...

  • Aldrich's The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) ... with George Kennedy (Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, The Eiger Sanction)
  • Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1975) ... with Marisa Berenson (White Hunter, Black Heart), and (as narrator), the eternal Michael Hordern (Where Eagles Dare)
  • A Bridge Too Far (1977) ... with Gene Hackman (Unforgiven) and everyone else on the planet except Michael Hordern
  • ... and The Wild Geese (1978), with Richard Burton (Where Eagles Dare)

Horst was also in The Magnificent Seven (1960) ... with none other than ol' Tuco himself, Eli Wallach. That's actually the one I had in mind. ;)

Another one I know "off the bat" ... so to speak! Gene Wilder was in Young Frankenstein (1974) with Madeline Kahn (City Heat).

Gene and Madeline also shared screen time in Blazing Saddles!

I forgot that Gene Hackman was in Young Frankenstein. And, I forgot Gene Wilder was in Bonnie and Clyde!  :o

Jeanne Moreau (I assume that's who you meant, Hemlock) was in Monte Walsh (1970) with Lee "Paint Your Wagon" Marvin and Matt Clark, who had small roles in three Eastwood films ... The Beguiled, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Honkytonk Man. Richard Farnsworth, who had a bit part in The Outlaw Josey Wales, was also in that one.  :D

What a coincidence, Hemlock, I was just on Bogie's IMDb page!

I should let D'Amb do this one, but, oh well ... It'd be nice if I could find a link in the Bogart starring vehicle The Enforcer (1951) ... or in The African Queen ... but I don't see one. But what about The Caine Mutiny (1954)? Starring Bogie as Lt. Cmdr. Philip Francis Queeg, and featuring no fewer than three future Eastwood co-stars: Tom Tully (Coogan's Bluff), E.G. Marshall (Absolute Power), and Lee Marvin (Paint Your Wagon).
