Nearly new year here in England. Just to say I wish everyone a very happy new year and hope that 2016 is a good year for you all X

You too, Ally.  :-*

(And thanks for helping us turn the page and get back to the holiday spirit.)

My pleasure. I'm going to bed in a minute, I'm not staying up as I've just been having a quiet evening indoors (in fact the last few new year's eves have been like that – I live a fairly sedate life!) so all the best for 2016!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I almost made plans to go downtown and see the fireworks... but the crowds. I just can't do the crowd scene anymore.

Tim, that picture is beautiful. Have you ever gone there to see the fireworks display on New Year's Eve?

Last night was the first time ever I've seen the new years eve fireworks in person. We didn't go into the city but on the other side of the harbour at a place called Balls Head (Circled on map below). Friends have been going to the same spot for years and they got there at 9am to secure their spot. We arrived just after 4pm and just sat, ate and played trivial pursuit before watching the 9pm fireworks show. As much as the midnight show is much bigger, we left after the 9pm show because trying to get home after midnight is a nightmare.

What's it like outside your apartment? Are you close enough to the ball drop to have thousands of people on the street? Can you see it from your part of the city?

Close enough for there to be blocked-off streets (including mine) and cops everywhere. Basically, I never go out on New Year's Eve after 7 PM or so.

I can't see or hear anything from my windows, but if I were to walk a block east, to Broadway, I probably could at least glimpse the mob.

:(  I would make you go if I was there. I've always wanted to see that, but never wanted to drive into the city (when I lived in NJ) and deal with all that traffic. But you are SO close and can do it on foot.

I thought I typed faster than that. Damn... I didn't expect it to be 2015 when I started and 2016 when I ended.

I don't like crowds ... not THAT kind of crowd, anyway! :o

We'd be quite a pair... both of us hating crowds, and being in Times Square at midnight on New Year's Eve.  Okay, probably a bad idea.  ;D

My New Year's Resolution is to watch more Clint movies. Specifically, to watch all of them, which shouldn't take long really. I'm about to start Changeling. I couldn't sleep last night, and couldn't wake up today, so it feels like early evening to me still.

45 minutes til 2016 in my time zone.
