Are you going to have a thread where everyone can track what they watched?
I guess you mean like the Movie Journal thread... everyone has one post and they update it?  Not a bad idea.

If you'd like, go ahead and start one in the General Discussion forum.
Sounds like a good idea!

The WEEK 2 THREAD is up, in case anyone wants to get a jump on watching the movies this weekend. Week 2 officially starts on Monday.  So if you haven't watched A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More yet, get to it! You won't want to fall behind.  :)

We've got another! Xichado is a week behind, but plans on catching up and will try to do the full Challenge with us! It's SO great to have him here! He's one of our oldest members, and always writes great posts with lots of insight. We've also named him "The King of Symbolism", and I look forward to reading his posts on all these movies as we go through them!

So our total is 22! And it looks like that might be all of us. It will be hard to catch up much as we go along. So if you have any friends of Eastwood who either are or aren't members here yet, tell them about our Challenge and see if they want to register for the board and join us now before it gets too late.

Here's the list of participants:

I've added a separate and pinned thread for the schedule so it's easier for anyone to find it without searching through this thread. You'll find it pinned to the top of General Discussion, or just go here:

Also, here's another call to ANYONE ELSE who might want to do the Challenge. Once we get past Paint Your Wagon Movie Night, it's going to be very difficult to catch up to everyone. Since we put a "Catch Up" day in the same week as the Paint Your Wagon Movie Night, that means there's about two weeks from now to watch the first 6 movies, and then the 7th "live" with us on February 21.

*ringing the last call bell*  Anyone else?   :)

The two movies next week (The Beguiled and Play Misty for Me) are two of my absolute favorites!

Yeah looking forward to those. I want to watch The Beguiled with my wife. She has never seen it and love seeing her reaction to films like this.

You'll probably have to tell her they didn't really cut off Clint's leg! :D

We're one month into our challenge and have seen 9 films. 10 if you saw The Witches.

How would you rate the movies in order?

A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Hang 'em High, The Witches, Coogan's Bluff,  Where Eagles Dare, Paint Your Wagon, Kelly's Heroes, Two Mules for Sister Sara

My list would be:

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
For A Few Dollars More
A Fistful of Dollars
Hang 'em High
Kelly's Heroes
Paint Your Wagon
Where Eagles Dare
Coogan's Bluff
Two Mules for Sister Sara

Will I be accused of "fighting" if I disagree with you?

Never mind, it's really not very important to me.

My list, best at the top and going down to worst....

The Beguiled
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
For A Few Dollars More
A Fistful of Dollars
Play Misty For Me
Paint Your Wagon
Coogan's Bluff
Hang 'em High

I've already watched Beguiled and Misty, have never yet seen those erased from the copied list.

SK, my list is very similar to yours... I just moved Coogan's Bluff up a few notches, and Where Eagles Dare down a peg or two.

I didn't put lots of thought into this beforehand but just ranked them. So the ranking could potentially change if I did it again in a few days. Who know?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
For a Few Dollars More
A Fistful of Dollars
Coogan's Bluff
Kelly's Heroes
Two Mules for Sister Sara
Hang 'em High
Paint Your Wagon
Where Eagles Dare

And if I included this week's movies like the Man With No Aim did, there's a chance they'd be in the top two or three. We'll see after this week's viewings. 8)

How great has this challenge been so far? Watching these films as they were released, reading everyone's thoughts on them. No matter how many times we see certain films, it's always great to read what others have to say about them.

Fantastic idea, Matt.  8)

I'm really glad I did it too. I knew I needed the refresher if I was going to join in the discussions here, so I was doing it for me, and on a whim decided to see if anyone wanted to join me. I had no idea we'd wind up with the kind of turnout we did. It's been great. :)

Thanks, Matt, for the challenge.  I tried it two years ago, but couldn't handle the darkness and depressing aspects of some of the films while I was sick, so gave it up.  Now that my mind is in a sunshiny condition, it's fun.  I'm looking forward to watching the ones I've never gotten around to watching, even though I own them.  It's so much more fun having some encouragement along the way. :)

When the idea for this challenge was first mooted by Matt, I thought I'd struggle to keep up and I know there's a long way to go. We're not even half way yet but as I said last month, this has been great watching the films in chronological order.

I've been able to get ahead and get next week's challenge done already. I'm sure a few of us have probably slipped behind a little or even further than you would like but I urge you not to toss it in. I pm'd a lot of members taking part in the challenge a couple of week's back and said the same.

I am struggling to write my thoughts down about each film. I've always had that trouble though.

Yeah things were looking rough there for me, I had gotten three weeks behind. But I will endeavor to persevere! I can't believe how much stuff I forget when I watch these now. It's been great getting reacquainted with all of them. I'm going to try to close the gap this week and get back on schedule.

I fell three weeks behind, but I got caught up this week! Whew! I was a little worried there!

The Challenge Week discussion threads are getting shorter and shorter. I think people are dropping like flies. Who's still with us and keeping up?

And if you've fallen behind:  Endeavor to persevere! That's right, this is a make-up week, so set a new goal to get caught up this week!

I'm actually ahead of the schedule. I need to be as I've got two weeks off next month and I won't be spending much time in front of the TV.
