Are there any actors or movies you've changed your opinion about over the years?

One for me is Adam Sandler. I've always thought he seemed like a cool guy, but haven't always been a big fan of his. There's been a few movies over the years that I've liked, but I've really come around to becoming more of a fan. Also, Eight Crazy Nights is one good example for this too. I saw the movie at the theater with a friend when it came out in 2002 and didn't like it at all. I watched it again a few weeks ago... and I liked it fine.

A completely different example would be the Friday the 13th reboot from 2009. I didn't care much for it when I saw it in 2009, but now I'd have to say it might be the best overall Friday movie. That's a crazy swing in opinion, and I'm not sure if it's because of expectations when I first watched it, and then coming back to it years later I don't have those same expectations. So I'm judging the movie just on its own merit instead of whatever I was expecting years ago.

Does anyone else have any thoughts about this?

Oh yeah happens to me a lot. A ton of movies I watch first time and I don?t like them at all. But then second or third watch I do a complete turn around. Some examples are step brothers, Napoleon dynamite, Broken arrow Jimmy Stewart western, They Live. Just to name a few.  Whatever reason I didbt care for these first viewing. But I did a complete turnaround after second and third watch. It?s usually movies with me. But I use to not be a big fan of burt Reynolds acting. But I?ve recently watched a few and I like him much better now. He?s an icon for sure. But for me I never cared much. Until recently watching some of his movies in a marathon type thing.  I can see thst happening with Adam Sandler with alot of people. Great topic!

Charles Bronson

I was aware of quite a few of his movies and enjoyed them.. but recently I?ve discovered a
lot more. He was a very good actor and made some interesting films..

Interesting topic. Outside of Clint Eastwood movies this really doesn't happen to me though. The reason for that is because if I don't like a movie the first time, I almost never watch it again, unless there is a compelling reason to revisit it, which I usually don't have. I also can't think of an actor that I strongly disliked that I have changed my mind about later.

What causes this for us? Why do we choose to rewatch a movie that you didn't like the first time? Also, if you do, what factors motivate you to re-appraise either a film or an actor you used to dislike that you later decide you now enjoy?

For me some films can change a lot as I age..
There are films I enjoyed when younger that upon  re-watching now no longer have quite the same effect on me.
and other films that  didn?t really do it for me before I now  find I can appreciate  more..

I always liked Charles Bronson but as times gone on I seem to appreciate his work a lot more than I did ..
I can?t think of an actor or film I really strongly disliked that I?ve reversed my opinion on..
