The link is Kuniko Miyake ... who was in both Wim Wenders's Bis ans Ende der Welt (1991), in which Amália had a bit as a "Woman in Street Car," and Escapade in Japan (1957), the next to last of ten films Eastwood had insignificant roles in before he landed a fairly major part in Ambush in Cimarron Pass ...

I'm afraid my knowledge of fado is woefully small ... I take it Amália Rodrigues is a legend in that art form?

The one-stepper I had in mind was a different one though  . Amália Rodrigues was in Les Amants du Tage (1955) with Marcel Dalio and he had a role in Lafayette Escadrille (1958) with Clint.

Amália was/is a legend. She is the soul, the heart and the voice of Fado and of the portuguese soul. Her (small) movie career was also very good.

Stephen Ray was in Michael Collins (1996), which starred Liam Neeson (The Dead Pool). He was also in The Crying Game (1992), which undeservedly won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar over Unforgiven, with Forest Whitaker, who starred in Bird, but I guess we aren't including Eastwood's "director-only" efforts in this game.
