Cliff won the Academy Award  for Best Actor as 'Charly' (1968) which co-starred Ruth White (Hang 'em High) and Dick van Patten (Joe Kidd.) The film is based on the short story, "Flowers for Algernon,"  a personal favorite.

Don't give up, Hemlock! You're one of our best at this game! ;)

To repeat the current puzzler, since we "turned the page":

OK, next, another director who often turned up as an actor in his own films (and sometimes in others'): Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

Rainer Werner Fassbinder starred in the 1976 film, Schatten Der Engel (Shadow Of Angels) with Klaus Lowitsch who was General Vladimirov in Firefox (1982).

I'll be out of town until the end of the month so hopefully that's correct.

Next, one of my wife's favorites: John Garfield
