Years ago I had the 12 Dane Hartman "Dirty Harry" books, but can no longer find them.  There are several sources on the web for the used books, but after shipping the total always invariably ends up being well more than twice the cost of the books themselves.  Does anyone have any idea where best to buy the entire series (new or used), without getting robbed?    ???

Thanks

Welcome to the Eastwood Web Board, Ferg.

You might try www.bookfinder.com and search for Dane Hartman books.  I just did a quick search and found quite a few "Dirty Harry" books.  However, I did not check each one to see how much they cost.

So, if you haven't already looked there, you might try that site.

Only place I can think of is eBay. You might find a complete or nearly complete set there ... and save on shipping.

This guy has nine of the twelve in one lot ... #1, 3, 6, 7, 8,  9, 10, 11, and 12.

He doesn't say how much shipping will be, but this guy ...

... has no. 1-5 in the series for only $3.00 shipping.

Keep looking for a while, and a complete set will be sure to turn up. (I searched "Eastwood Hartman" to find these.)

You could also organize your home library, and find your original set. ;)

KC - I had looked on Ebay previously with little luck, but found one of the two you had mentioned, the gentleman with #1-5 and plan to buy those.  Could not find the other posting with the remaining books that you mentioned, although I tried Eastwood Hartman as well.  If I can find that guy, I should be able to replace the entire set.  Would LOVE to find the ones I've had for years, but between work (FULL time military) our two toddlers and the two more we just had a couple days ago,  :o  I probably won't even have time to read the ones I buy, let alone find the old ones   :-\

Thanks for the inputs, gents.  Most helpful.  You have quite a site here.

Cheers,

Ferg, I actually put a link to that first auction in my post (the words "this guy"). You may not have noticed it. I'll repeat it ... there are still three days to go, and the starting bid's a dollar ... and there are no bids yet.

Here is the link "spelled out":

Good luck!

P.S., remember to select "Search title and description" when searching eBay. You'll get many more results. ;)

To those of you who have read these books, how would you rate them as an enjoyable read for a Dirty Harry fan?

WKC.

I read them all as they first came out.  I enjoyed them, but then I was younger.

I thought there were different writers as the series progressed, but I could be wrong.  I do remember that the quality varied from book to book.
