What is your favorite quote from The Outlaw Josey Wales? Describe the scene. Who says it and to whom?

Saloon

Bounty hunter : your a wanted man , Wales !

Josey : reckon im right popular , you a bounty hunter ?

Bounty : mans got to do something for a living these days.

Josey : dying aint much of a livin' boy.

Josey says something about you can live if you leave now,

then the bounty hunter leaves for a moment then returns.

Bounty hunter : I had to come back.

Josey : I know you did .

Josey shoots the bounty hunter dead ...

this from my memory , and remains the outstanding quote of the Josey Wales , Abe.

Josey -
Quote
Sometimes trouble just follows a man

I found this line very intresting, and also quite true.

One of many that stick in my memory:

"You ain't supposed be able to sneak up on an injun", Josey.

"White man been sneaking up on us for years", Lone Watie.

Others:

"You can't kill 'em all Josey", boy.

"I reckon not", Josey.

"Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining Senator", Fletcher.

"Why those liying blue scum bellies".  Boy at the river barge crossing talking with Granny Hawkins.

"You can pay me next time ye see me Mister Josey Wales", Granny Hawkins.

Ah, I could go on and on. The film TOJW is just full of meaningful, succinct, direct quotes that make it the briliant film it is and always will be.

Josey Wales : "Whenever I get to liking some one they ain't around long."
Chief : "I noticed when you get to disliking someone they around for long neither."

 josey wales
"Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"

josey wales
this a classic - good for a buisness meeting
Do you suppose these gentlemen will be available to discuss business before long?"

but my favourite because it just sums him up - it took alot to make him mean

josey wales
"When things look bad, and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb mad dog mean. Cause if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win, that's just the way it is."

"Well, are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"

Yup-that's my favorite quote from Josey Wales; always has been.  Josey exits the store with bundles in his arms only to run into 4 military men who don't know their asses from their elbows and freeze when they realize who they're up against.  That scene wouldn't have been as good had he just dropped his bundles and started blazing away.  That quote was a great break in the tension and added to the excitement.

Wow, there's so many great ones. In fact, all the ones mentioned already in this thread are great.  One that always gets a laugh out of me is this one that "ItsForYou" already added... :

Quote
JOSEY:  Chief, I was just wondering... I suppose that mangy, red-boned hound's got nowhere else to go either. (Spits tobacco at the dog)  He might as well ride along with us.  Hell, everybody else is.

JOSEY: I came here to die with you. Or live with you. Dying ain't so hard for men like you and me, it's living that's hard; when all you ever cared about has been butchered or raped.

Favorite: "we all died a little in this damn war"

least favorite: The boy calling out to Josey (I'm paraphrasing). let's get Fletcher, this is a trap (well, nice catch, boy, I thought it was a pick-nick :o. Or a diversion  ;D ;D)

Favorite: "we all died a little in this damn war"

It's a quote worth getting right...  "I guess we all died a little in that damn war. "

Quote
least favorite: The boy calling out to Josey (I'm paraphrasing). let's get Fletcher, this is a trap (well, nice catch, boy, I thought it was a pick-nick :o. Or a diversion  ;D ;D)

::) Jamie never told Josey that they should go after Fletcher. He tried to get Josey to get out of there while he still could--before he got killed. And until Jamie told him about Fletcher being involved, Josey had no idea that their friend and leader had been a part of the plan to have their entire group slaughtered. So Jamie was informing Josey of the depths of "the trap", which wasn't as crystal clear at that moment to them when they were fighting for their lives as it was to the audience.  (Although we know that Fletcher profited from turning the men over, only the audience knows that he didn't expect them to be killed... neither Jamie nor Josey know this). Here's the dialogue from that part of the scene:

Quote
JAMIE:  Josey, they'll be comin' after us! We gotta take to that brush!

JOSEY: You get goin'!

JAMIE:  You can't get 'em all, Josey.

JOSEY:  That's a fact.

JAMIE:  Well, how come you doin' this then?

JOSEY:  Cause I've got nothing better to do.

JAMIE:  Josey, Fletcher was in with them. It was a trap!

JOSEY:  (Stops shooting and turns to look at Jamie, visibly shocked.)  Fletcher?

JAMIE:  (Nods.)

JOSEY:  Never would have figured that.
