Others:
"You can't kill 'em all Josey", boy.
"I reckon not", Josey.
"Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining Senator", Fletcher.
"Why those liying blue scum bellies". Boy at the river barge crossing talking with Granny Hawkins.
"You can pay me next time ye see me Mister Josey Wales", Granny Hawkins.
Ah, I could go on and on. The film TOJW is just full of meaningful, succinct, direct quotes that make it the briliant film it is and always will be.
Regards,
Wombat

JOSEY: I came here to die with you. Or live with you. Dying ain't so hard for men like you and me, it's living that's hard; when all you ever cared about has been butchered or raped.

Favorite: "we all died a little in this damn war" least favorite: The boy calling out to Josey (I'm paraphrasing). let's get Fletcher, this is a trap (well, nice catch, boy, I thought it was a pick-nick . Or a diversion )

Favorite: "we all died a little in this damn war" It's a quote worth getting right... "I guess we all died a little in that damn war. " least favorite: The boy calling out to Josey (I'm paraphrasing). let's get Fletcher, this is a trap (well, nice catch, boy, I thought it was a pick-nick . Or a diversion ) Jamie never told Josey that they should go after Fletcher. He tried to get Josey to get out of there while he still could--before he got killed. And until Jamie told him about Fletcher being involved, Josey had no idea that their friend and leader had been a part of the plan to have their entire group slaughtered. So Jamie was informing Josey of the depths of "the trap", which wasn't as crystal clear at that moment to them when they were fighting for their lives as it was to the audience. (Although we know that Fletcher profited from turning the men over, only the audience knows that he didn't expect them to be killed... neither Jamie nor Josey know this). Here's the dialogue from that part of the scene: JAMIE: Josey, they'll be comin' after us! We gotta take to that brush!
JOSEY: You get goin'!
JAMIE: You can't get 'em all, Josey.
JOSEY: That's a fact.
JAMIE: Well, how come you doin' this then?
JOSEY: Cause I've got nothing better to do.
JAMIE: Josey, Fletcher was in with them. It was a trap!
JOSEY: (Stops shooting and turns to look at Jamie, visibly shocked.) Fletcher?
JAMIE: (Nods.)
JOSEY: Never would have figured that.
