Denis Weaver played Chester in Gunsmoke and then as the leading man of 70s series McCloud (based on Clint's Coogan character) He died of complications from cancer on Friday at his home in Colorado; he was 81.

I also remember his fine performance in the 1971 Spielberg picture Duel, where he played the terrorised driver persued by crazed truck driver.

Very sad to hear he is no longer with us.

I really liked the McCloud T.V. series when I was growing up.I didn't even know it was based on Coogan's Bluff back then. And I definitely have to get a copy of Duel on DVD soon, great film.

Three great actors gone over the weekend. :'(

Very sad news.     Duel is a brilliant movie and I always like McCloud.    I will remember him as Chester in Gunsmoke.
I loved that character.
