National Football League 2006

Is anybody excited that the football season is now officially here, with a Steeler's victory tonight over the Dolphins 28-17? 

I have two favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, whom I've rooted for since the seventies when I was a little kid, and the Cincinnati Bengals, as I was born in Cincinnati and my parents are huge fans and had season tickets for many years, even after we'd moved to Dayton, until it became too expensive.  Now the Bengals are actually contenders and it should be an exciting year, and I hope things work out better this year than last.

I'm just disappointed that Dallas brought Terrel Owens onto their team.  What a $#%&!!!  And this guy's an eleven year veteran and his behavior seems to only get worse each year.  Oh, well, I can't root against Dallas, but I can certainly root for TO getting a limited playing time. 

Anybody else's favorite teams and thoughts on the season?

  It bothers me to...but it helps to basically think of him as a "hired gun", as opposed to the real deal Cowboys like Greg Ellis, Julius Jones, Roy Williams, Jason Whitten, etc...and he sure won't be thought of years down the road like Dat Ngyun, Larry Allen, Aikman, Randy White, Bill Bates, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Staubach and those guys.  He is just there to catch passes.

  As for the NFL, I'm eager for this Sunday.  I'm back in VA and NC until next Saturday, and I plan to watch as much football and highlight shows as humanly possible.

I am glad there are Dallas Cowboy fans here. I am a die hard Cowboy fan and have been since I was a child. Drew Bledsoe better pull his head out of his a@# and play the way that he knows how to play. We have the Washington Redskins to play Sunday night. I am looking forward to playing thoses guys. I despise the Redskins with a passion.

I gotta say that game between the Cowboys and the Jaguars the other night was good.  So happy I picked the Jaguars to win.   

Anyone catch the Chargers/Raiders game last night.  Damn... Bad.

And, as always I'm rooting for the Tampa bay Buccs, I think Gruden is a great coach.

I've already resigned myself to the likelihood that the Cowboys will be just like they were last year, a dangerous 9-7 team that just doesn't have it all together, and they're going to p!ss me off again when they have a chance to put away the other team but prefer to run three running plays in a row at the other team's thirty yard line and then kick a field goal for a three point lead so the other team can come back and beat them in the last few minutes.  They just pulled that crap again in the first game, running a friggin running play on 3rd and 14 and then the kicker hits the upright and misses the field goal.  Ah! That burns me up.

On the plus side, the Bengals are looking good.  Before the season began, the Vegas sports book had the Bengals at 30-1 to win the Super Bowl, then it was 25-1, and someone told me they're now at 10-1 with their win on Sunday.  If I bet sports I would have loved to get in on that 30-1 odds.  Not a bad bet!  But alas, I have enough ways already to throw away my money, I definitely don't need to add sports betting to the list.
