Plans to use old warship in movie may be abandoned.Plans to use a World War Two ship in Evansville for scenes of a Clint Eastwood movie may be scrapped. Officials had hoped that a film crew would come to Evansville to shoot scenes involving the LST 325. But the ship's commander, Captain Robert Jornlin, says the craft will not be used because movie officials wanted to take the ship to Iceland for filming. Iceland's terrain resembles the Pacific island of Iwo Jima, where the film "Flags of Our Fathers" is set. Jornlin plans to meet with movie officials in Iceland next month. He hopes to persuade them to film at least the inside of the ship in Evansville. Eventually, the L-S-T will be permanently docked on Evansville's riverfront as part of a World War Two museum. Similar ships were built at the Evansville Shipyard during the war.
