August 17th and only $9.92 (Aus)

I can't remember if this has been released in Australia before or like the UK was still waiting for it first time around. Good news as it will be Pal system.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be another NTSC copy on PAL format like the R4 Bronco Billy was. But if it's a proper PAL transfer I'll be getting it - especially at that bargain price.

It is proper PAL.

The cover is the same the world over. Not great I agree, has a Gone with the wind look about it.

I posted this comment re this disk about a week ago:

Interesting to see The Beguiled on offer at www.ezydvd.com.au for only Aus $9.92.  More interesting to see it is being advertised as 1.66:1 ratio.

imdb.com says it is 1.85 and the region 1 disk says it is 1.85:1

I wonder what gives?  Maybe just a typo at ezydvd?

WKC.

Any new comments welcome....

On the subject of cover art. I don't think they have ever got it right.

Here is the first UK vhs rental release cover.

There were later sell thru covers with Clint sat in a field which also didn't do the film any favours.

Hi everyone.

The Laserdisc cover (below) was more attractive, shame they didn't use it for the DVD release.

I'm glad I still kept hold of my LD collection, most of them have unique cover art.

Wow, that one really does make Clint look like a paedophile.

<<<that ld cover isn't right either he never chased them with a gun>>>

Hi,  :)

Clint got the gun out near the end of the movie when he started going a little nuts, not long after he had his leg cut off.

Here is the original cinema poster I got off ebay a few years ago.
The LD cover is the closest to it.

This is a bit more like it .

At least it has a darker theme to the artwork. No gun either.

still makes the film look violent which i don't think it is

i know you got to sell the film but ...

it's a thriller but the plot isn't about killing him

actually its a interesting film if they had murdered him in different way it might have stood out more, not to say i don't like the ending

and it shows the difference in interpretation and selling of the films in different countries

The only thing I think you could mean is the battle scarred face of Mc B.

I think on those terms the artwork is correct.

Where is the violence in the image?

The idea of a suffering Mc B at the bottom of the image was also used in one of the covers of the book.

the blood on his face is kinda showing an image of violence

but actually the film is not really about the civil war - its placed in the civil war

at least i saw it that way

Well I think it is still better than purple and those other "scratch your head" designs.
