The Swimmer
1968

Staring Burt Lancaster.. who at 55 looks in great shape in this drama..

Cult movie about a man who decides to swim home using all of his neighbours swimming pools..
The further he gets into his journey the more he appears to find out about himself...and all is not as it at first seems..

I havn't seen this film in a long time but still enjoyed it..
I've always admired Lancaster.. an actor not afraid to take on interesting, offbeat and uncommericial projects
interspersed with more usual star fare... sound familiar ?  ;)

Enjoyed seeing the first three of these again and the last one for the first time.  Laughed at all of them because horror films don’t scare me.

Meh.  Not even Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis could save this film.  It’s as insipid, irrelevant and insignificant as Rise Of The Cobra.

The Ugly Duckling 1959

A comedy take on the Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde story starring English comedian Bernard Breslaw, Jean Muir and future Dr Who Jon Pertwee..
A Hammer film thought lost for many years until a copy turned up in the States last year..

Quite possibly where Jerry Lewis got his inspiration a few years later for The Nutty Professor..
Decent little comedy  enlivened by Breslaws performance..

Saw this last week and while it was basically ok, it wasn't scary.

The Small World of Sammy Lee
1963

Starring Anthony Newley..
Great little British movie filmed mainly on location in London's Soho district.. A nightclub entertainer has one
day to raise the money he owes gangsters...or else..

I've always been a big fan of Newley, as a singer, songwriter (he co-wrote Goldfinger) and as an actor.
He's great in this.. I worked in Soho back in the 80's and it's great to see the area how it used to be..

Witness for the Prosecution (1957)

Another adaptation of one of Agatha Christie's books that I like to watch from time to time. The twists gets me everytime. Charles Laughton is wonderful.

Body of Evidence

I bought it because the sinopsis said it contained elements of Witness for the Prosecution but aside the court scenes and Madonna wearing like Marlene Dietrich (the beret, the suit and hair style) I thought it has much more elements of Basic Instinct than anything else. I didn't remember the whole cast but besides Madonna and Willem Dafoe there are Julianne Moore Joe Mantegna and Annie Archer that are great too. What you guys think of Madonna as an actress? I really like her, she is perfect in this role. It has been a while I watched this, I didn't remember the ending , it's very surprising.

Finally caught up with

Black Panther

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole movie..

I'm not a major comic book film guy ( tho I've seen a few now) but I don't think it matters if a film stands up
and I think Black Panther does.. Good story, great acting and the whole film looks amazing..

Great flawed hero and a great ensemble cast.. I actually cared about these characters, I felt emotionaly connected..not something I've felt with other films of this type..
