Woman director, originally known as a comedian, her former partner in comedy became a much more celebrated director ... She only directed four films, the last one was one of the most infamous bombs of the era.

I can't think of what that movie might be, but thinking of Casavettes and Falk always makes me think of A Woman Under the Influence, which Casavettes wrote and directed and stars Falk and Gena Rowlands. I saw the movie some years ago but my thought at the time was that those two gave some of the best performances I've ever seen on film.

Oh well ... the film I had in mind is Mikey and Nicky, Elaine May's gangster movie and her darkest work as a director. It is still quite funny in places, but it's definitely not a comedy.

I hadn't realised John Cassavettes guested on Rawhide. Incident of the Gloomy River. I havnt seen that one.
I wonder if there's any pics of him with Clint..

Watched Rambo Last Blood earlier today. I liked it very much.  Stallone was great. Isn't everyone's cup of tea. But I enjoyed it. Movie critics don't think much of it. But I've never cared what they think. The people audiences seem to like it. And I like it. Guess that's all that matters if you personally like it or not.

This 2007 action movie was a disappointment.  So much so that I shut it off one hour into it.  I’ve seen a lot by Statham that I’ve enjoyed and some by Li.  They’re both great in The Expendables film series, too.  I try to sit through any movie I start, but after this I believe I’ll change that policy.

The Apartment starring Jack Lemon and the awesomely talented and attractive Shirley McLaine.
Can't believe I've never seen this before.. Fantastic performances, very funny too. Great film.

My favorite movie I watched in all of last year was The Night Stalker, which was a 1972 TV movie that led to a sequel and then a TV series called Kolchak. I rewatched those movies last month (and I'm making my way through the series too, some of which I've already seen), and I watched Duel again, which was also a TV movie. So this has led me to start seeking out horror/thriller TV movies from the 1970s. It's too bad the major TV networks don't do this sort of thing anymore. I've read that TV movies just aren't considered to be very profitable for them now. I don't know--Hallmark does all right with them (by the way, I don't list them on my movie journal but I do watch some of the Hallmark mystery movies and enjoy those).

I watched a few of those older movies last month and am going to watch more, but the standouts have been Home for the Holidays and The Last Child, both of which were directed by the same director as The Night Stalker.

I feel like this is a quirky thing to suddenly get into. :D

Looks like youtube has a good quality upload of the movie, which is where I've been finding these movies (except for Night Stalker, Night Strangler, and Duel--I own those on DVD or Blu-ray).

Bad Words is always funny.  Saw Happy Death Day for the first time, a different, effective take on the Groundhog Day film.
