'Mr. Holmes' (2015)
-Ian McKellen

Plot: IMDB
The story is set in 1947, following a long-retired Holmes living in a Sussex village with his housekeeper and rising detective son. But then he finds himself haunted by an unsolved 30-year old case. Holmes memory isn't what it used to be, so he only remembers fragments of the case: a confrontation with an angry husband, a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife.

Phantom's Review:
If your a fan of big budget, action packed special FX blockbusters, then do yourself a favor and don't watch this. If you like, smaller, brilliantly acted dramas, an intriguing mystery and good story, then settle in and watch 'Mr. Holmes'.
Ian McKellen is marvelous as the aged Sherlock Holmes living out his twilight years in the English countryside. The film deals with many concepts. What it's like to old, memories fading, regrets and how one deals with loss as you get older. The film also has an interesting mystery at it's core, that is told in flashbacks. In fact, there several flashbacks that tell different points in the story. This is a character piece and it's told at it's own speed. I enjoyed this film tremendously and I am a life long Holmes fan. If you are too, then watch it. you'll enjoy it.

Just had to watch this today. October 21, 2015.

The day Marty and Doc go into the future, although after today it will be the past.

Not as good as the first film but enjoyable.

3/5.

I had the opportunity to see Back To The Future (1985) and Back To The Future Part II  (1989) on "Back To The Future Day" this past Wednesday, October 21 at National Amusements in Revere, MA with a couple of old friends.  It was great seeing the first one again this way, bringing back memories of the first time I saw it over 30 years ago with my brother and his friend.  I actually didn't mind seeing the second film, but the second half of the movie is better than the first.  It's too bad this couldn't have been done on a weekend day to include the third film.  At the conclusion of the double feature were some mock commercials referenced in the sequel such as "hover-boards" and "Jaws 19".  Afterwards, Christopher Lloyd appeared on screen for a special message recorded to commemorate Back To The Future Day.  I'm glad and grateful to have been able to share the experience with a couple of old friends.

Bad Words (2014)

Very funny.  A lot of crude, vulgar humor but still an entertaining comedy.  Justin Bateman's deadpan delivery of some of his lines had me in stitches!

Halloween and Halloween2. Michael Myers always terrifying.  Those two are among my favorite Halloween/horror movies. Jamie Lee Curtis is fantastic in these movies. I can't imagine not watching these two movies around Halloween time. Normally I would watch these two movies on Halloween night. But this yr I have to work late halliween night and then turn around and work early the next day v

I used to watch the first two Halloween movies or so around Halloween, but I haven't done that in a while. They are great and suspenseful movies.

I watched the Back to the Future trilogy recently. With the various documentaries that were recently on, I wanted to watch the movies before checking out some of those. The series is my favorite trilogy over all, with all three movies being very entertaining.
