Movies I have watched this week

I'll watch it eventually to see what Scott Eastwood is like in a starring role. Any thoughts on his screen presence or acting?

I have seen The Longest Ride.  I went into it thinking that it was going to be centered around the longest 8 seconds in sports...riding bulls.  I was delightfully surprised that it was mostly about a much longer "ride."  I won't give it away but, if you watch it, let me know what you think.

Reap the Wild Wind (1942)



I'm humored by this poster.  In the actual film, Ray Milland gets top billing and the girl at the end of the story.  John Wayne does a nice job as the good guy/bad guy of the story.  The film is just fine, but isn't served well by the recurring theme about the importance of America's sea power.  The monologue during the opening credits doesn't really have anything to do with the story.  It's just 1942 propaganda.  That said, I still like the film and thoroughly enjoyed  the time spent with it.

Nope.    I started watching the first sequel this morning.  I always enjoy the first two, not looking forward to the third because upon first seeing it I was disappointed.  That was eons ago, though, so now I'm willing to give it another chance.

I've begun watching Godfather III.  I'm not getting into it very much, finding myself waiting for it to either become interesting or just end.  I'd say I'm about halfway through it now.  It just seems like they shouldn't have bothered with a second sequel.

The Bible: In The Beginning (1966)



I was curious to see the movie that was number one the week I was born.  It was definitely interesting.  I can just imagine what this would look like if it were remade today, with all the cgi technology available.  I recognized Richard Harris, John Huston, Peter O’Toole and George C. Scott here, but not Ava Gardner.  To reveal my religious history ignorance, I didn’t know the outcome when Abraham was bringing his son Isaac to be sacrificed and was prepared to bawl my eyes out.  I couldn’t help but get emotional as I watched him tie his son up, lie him down and begin to light the fire!  MAN!  Just the THOUGHT of it!  What a relief to find he was spared!

Today (meaning Saturday) I watched on TCM Cape Fear (1962), Sabrina (1954), The Bridge on the River Kwai, the DVD of Dirty Harry, and two episodes of The Flash. I haven't watched that many movies in a while. And it didn't even feel like much. I wonder why I don't do that more often... Oh, right, I remember, a three-year-old at home. It helped I'd seen those movies all before except Cape Fear, though I've seen Scorsese's remake.
