Does anyone know who plays the music at the beginning of Play Misty for Me, when Clint is driving on the coast road? This is driving me crazy.

The music was composed by Dee Barton for the film, but I don't know who played it, sorry.

Other than Roberta Flack and Erroll Garner, the only musician mentioned in the "full cast and crew" listing on the IMDb is Mike Deasy (uncredited), a guitarist. I don't know if that helps ... I don't hear a guitar in that opening selection.

My guess would be that the musicians were an ad hoc group hired for the movie. If one had access to the archives of Universal Pictures, their identities might be revealed there.

Universal will have music cue sheets that would give more details of who was involved with the recording of the music.
